Yahtzee showers praise on Call of Duty 4

As a general rule of thumb, it's usually a bad thing when Zero Punctuation reviews a game you like. The reason for this is quite simple: chances are that Yahtzee (ZP's fast talking, wisecracking host) is going to tear your favorite game a new one. If you happen to be a fan of Call of Duty 4, your wait is over. Call of Duty fans should have no fear, however, because Yahtzee has nary a bad thing to say about it all. As a matter of fact, he apparently loves it. We're currently fortifying the walls of Fanboy Towers for the oncoming flame war. You see, Yahtzee wasn't quite so kind to Halo 3. You may watch the extremely not safe for work review of Call of Duty 4 after the break.

This guy is a fucking genius.
NoTomorrow @ Feb 6th 2008 4:27PM
One of his funnies videos ever. We knew this was coming though, he said he would do it at the end of last week's video.
Still funny.
mcwattersm @ Feb 6th 2008 4:29PM
Haha I love Yahtzee.
Manvir (El Homer) @ Feb 6th 2008 4:33PM

NoTomorrow @ Feb 6th 2008 4:34PM

elementalj7 @ Feb 6th 2008 4:46PM

Token White Guy @ Feb 7th 2008 12:46PM
Fuck you pal.
Some one ban this dumb ass.
Deck @ Feb 6th 2008 4:46PM
That was one of his best ones I must say.
If Yahtzee likes it, y'know the game must be doing something correctly!
Dragod @ Feb 6th 2008 4:54PM
Meh. CoD4 was far from amazing for me... It did what it did, and it did it well. Should we impressed that a game did what it should do?
I bought CoD2 because I love the History in a GOOD WWII game. I was one of the few who actually watched the black and white films from the History channel..
In CoD4, it seemed like they were just trying to outdo the average games... It did everything it should have, but that's it. There was nothing beyond Multiplayer and Campaign...
I'm just bitter because I want my Bumper Jumper, and I miss my file sharing.. =K
Cal @ Feb 6th 2008 5:15PM
At least it had a decent campaign and online multiplayer (which I recently quit), none of which are true for Halo 3 in my eyes (although vehicles, customisation and file sharing were well implemented).
Dragod @ Feb 6th 2008 5:18PM
I loved the campaign... And the Multiplayer is one of the best I've ever seen. Matchmaking is great, and when the host quits, you only have to deal with a short reconnection, instead of the entire match being ended.
mcwattersm @ Feb 6th 2008 5:33PM
Don't forget arcade mode which is very fun.
But seriously I would of been happy with just CoD multiplayer + class customization.
stukorn @ Feb 6th 2008 5:07PM
really funny stuff, long live the yantz!
TORO @ Feb 6th 2008 5:22PM
No many games Yahtzee likes....so COD4 is a winner!
Sammy D Kat @ Feb 6th 2008 5:47PM
I liked COD4 but it really felt like Wack-a-mole after a while with all of the "shoot the guy when he pops his head out of a window". I don't even remember which level came before the airplane epilogue. It was fun & well done, but not earth shattering.
Ranus Studios @ Feb 6th 2008 6:12PM
This reminds me that I still have to play the game. It's been sitting atop my 360 for two weeks now.
And he was dead accurate about Halo 3, get over it. I'm like him- I only play for the campaign.
Which is why I agreed so much with him about Bioshock, of which I am still a colossal whore/fanboy.
Who Flang Poo @ Feb 6th 2008 6:56PM
I thought COD 4's campaign was horrible, it's so repetitive same enemies over and over and over and over and over and.............
Gemini Ace @ Feb 6th 2008 7:06PM
ZP rocks! He needs to go solo instead of being stuck on The Escapist.
Sora267 @ Feb 6th 2008 7:20PM
Then he couldn't review games...
The Escapist pays for all his games.
Gemini Ace @ Feb 6th 2008 7:22PM
Yea, but independence is better! Screw The Escapist!
derickoleary @ Feb 6th 2008 7:23PM
But The Escapist buy him games ... and pay him Ill bet... very well too. He'd want to be getting paid judging by the amount of traffic he is generating to the site.
Gemini Ace @ Feb 6th 2008 7:38PM
His own site could be getting that traffic.
Who Flang Poo @ Feb 6th 2008 7:09PM
I mean the first playthrough was kinda fun and additcing, but I have no intention of replaying it, because all the levels involve killing the same enemies with pretty much the same weapons over n over again. The only level that was slightly different from the rest of the game was the gilly suit one, but i played that one a few times and eventually got bored as hell.
refinedsugar @ Feb 6th 2008 7:29PM
The MP is where its at. The single player campaign has some dramatic touches, but it wasn't revolutionary story or gameplay-wise for a shooter.
JCFG @ Feb 6th 2008 7:29PM
by far the best episode ever!
Josh @ Feb 6th 2008 7:33PM
I go with the opposite of what he says. The games he hates you should buy, and the games he likes you should stay away from.
Robo @ Feb 6th 2008 7:50PM
I liked COD4. It's a good game.
The only flaw that truly frustrated me was that the game chose to throw a million respawning baddies at you, with gameplay focused on terrain control. That works for the majority of the game, except for certain situations where it turns into utter pain. Like the inside of the TV station.
That said, COD4 also handled modern day world politics much more tastefully than Yahtzee ever could.
quesadia19@hotmail.com @ Feb 6th 2008 9:46PM
this guy is so boring really a fast talking accented fool who cusses and shows cute-funny pictures while he ridicules and praises games on his meticulous views on what he thinks is good and bad. Well if internet stardom is that easy here I come. X3F, I will be seeing you in the future and maybe you will display my nerdy half hearted videos someday.
Ranus Studios @ Feb 7th 2008 12:57AM
Here's hoping that you're funny.
Easo @ Feb 7th 2008 12:16AM
Whats funny about this review, is that he praises how he praises COD4 as if its a reinvention of the war genera, when in fact its really just COD2 with a new time setting and a fresh coat of paint. I think the reason he likes it is because it makes the SAS look the finest assemblage warriors since Leonidas's 300 and shows the American military in a slightly negative light.
Simon @ Feb 7th 2008 7:05AM
Fucking hilarious!
(Can we say "fucking" on this site? Oh well.)
Maestro @ Feb 7th 2008 9:49AM
In a world of nose picking video game players, this guy is a freakin g-d!
Maestro @ Feb 7th 2008 9:50AM
Err...isnt he Australian? Why would he give a fuck about the SAS?
Token White Guy @ Feb 7th 2008 12:47PM
He's a Brit, but he moved to Australia.
Benny @ Feb 7th 2008 6:18PM
There is actually an Australian SAS regiment.
And New Zealand I believe...
Now I just sound like some sort of weapons whore
