Talking with the folks over at
MTV Multiplayer, Criterion Games confirmed that new
Burnout Paradise downloadable content is on its way in the near future and they promise to not divide the community. Criterion explained that any upcoming
Paradise DLC (whether paid or free) will be released in such a way that it will allow "everyone to 'see' the content, even if they have not paid for it". We aren't sure how Criterion plans on implementing this "look, just don't play" method of DLC, but we're sure they'll make it a seamless experience. No matter how everything gets implemented, it's comforting to know that you'll still be able to play online with your pals even though your DLC purchasing habits may not be the same. That is if you both own a hard drive, but that's an entirely
different story.

It'll be how Crackdown did it.

What kind of DLC are they talking about? Additional cars or something else?

Standalone crash junctions?

A Crackdown Keys To The City-style affair would be nice: the ability to lay down ramps where you want them, alter gravity, switch your car on the fly without going to a junkyard, and so forth. S'il vous plait!

Crackdown did it.

Its fairly simple, make the actual DLC part of the live update, and make the marketplace item a tiny unlock file. Since you have to download the live update to play online, everyone would be able to see the content even if they hadn't purchased the unlock for it.

UNO does it so you can join games if the host has the special decks, and it takes a few extra seconds for you to temporarily download it.
However, you can't host a game or play offline with the decks unless you buy them.

They wont go for the 'download if the host has it' route they are going nuts with the 'no loading' concept. My guess would be the game update/unlock file path.

And if they'd only give you some reward for getting all 350/350 challenges...then I might be motivated to get past my 287/350...lol

I'm fairly certain Ultimate Alliance did it as well.
