The Club one-ups GoW's Seriously achievement
The humorous and ever so witty dev team over at Bizarre Creations got a little creative with their achievements for upcoming title The Club. So creative, they somehow managed to one-up Gears of War's "Seriously" achievement.Looking over The Club's achievements one will quickly notice an achievement by the name of "No, Seriously" which can only be earned if a player gets 10,001 kills in ranked multiplayer. This, of course, is a direct reference to GoW's famous (and nearly impossible to obtain) "Seriously" achievement where gamers must rack up some 10,000 ranked kills. As you see, The Club's "No, Seriously" requires an extra kill. Nicely played Bizarre, nicely played.
Though, we're sorry to say that Gears' "Seriously" will forever be held high atop our list of most respected achievements and can never be replaced or duplicated, even if it only requires 10,000 kills to unlock. Heck, "No, Seriously" will only net you 40 Gamerscore, ten less Gamerscore than the the original "Seriously". It must not be as l33t of an achievement as it's made out to be ... just saying Bizarre, just saying.

nerrrrrrd @ Feb 7th 2008 4:38PM
either = each other...
it's been a long day
RudyHuxtable @ Feb 7th 2008 4:44PM
Then Gears 2 will come out and feature "Dude, Seriously?" which will require you get 10,002 kills and 1 assist, and the cycle of oneupmanship will continue ad nauseum, culminating with Halo 7's "Are You *#@^*# Kidding?"
ZEBRA NINER @ Feb 7th 2008 4:47PM
Or an achievement that said "Dude... where is my car?". Then you could get blow up 10,000 cars.
ZEBRA NINER @ Feb 7th 2008 4:44PM
Hmmmm, they should have made the achievement worth 51 points. THAT would have been funny.
RudyHuxtable @ Feb 7th 2008 4:48PM
HA!
Boff @ Feb 8th 2008 9:42AM
Beat me to it!!
colin @ Feb 7th 2008 5:01PM
it will still be tons easier than "seriously". 10,001 kills in the club will be like 500 kills in gears.
mike @ Feb 7th 2008 11:17PM
I agree. I just finished getting the 10 000 Kills achievement in undertow and it only took me around 8 hours. I imagine the club 10 001 will take only around 15-20 hours vs GOW 150+ hours.
In GOW, anex games did not count, remember. This meant that only the no respawn matches let you get the achievement. So if you played 19 round games and were really good, you usualy got around 30 kills average after 30 minutes of play. Thats 166 hours of gameplay alone to get the achievement. Then once we include the waiting time required to start another ranked game everytime, then the fact that sometimes it was hard to get kills either because of bad allies, too good allies, or good enemy players, your looking at an average of over 200 hours to get the achievements.
Im sure in the club we are going to be averaging 100 kills in 10 minutes with its fast paced style and im assuimg their ranked matchup system will be faster then GOW.
so GOW still wins for the true seriously achievement. I just hope it does not return for GOW2

somebody needs to fix the gears wikipedia page ... there are some errors when referring to achievements and annex
Jason @ Feb 7th 2008 5:12PM
If I made a game, it would have a single 1000 point secret achievement
Bourega @ Feb 7th 2008 5:32PM
"Buy this game"
Jason @ Feb 7th 2008 5:43PM
Pretty much. Same thing happened with avatar. My friend bought it because he couldn't find it for rent anywhere. Luckily for him, he struck a good deal with the gamestop guys who sold him the eval copy and bought it back full price.
xenocidic @ Feb 7th 2008 10:11PM
Pretty sure M$ policy dictates 5 as the minimum number of cheevs for a game.
cf. Avatar, CSI: Hard Evidence.
AnOffday @ Feb 7th 2008 5:19PM
Gears still has the up on them, considering they refuse to fix the broken achievement and it can sometimes take an extra thousand just to unlock it.
Marrvia @ Feb 7th 2008 5:57PM
I don't know anything about this game, but in Gears of War, in a five round match, getting 10 or more kills is considered good, so that's why it is hard to get 10,000. But for all I know, this game can be like COD4, where you can get easily get 20+ kills per match.
Therefore, getting 10,001 kills in this game can potentially be twice as easy as Gears of War(or even easier). It all depends on how easy it is to get kills.

Cute, Bizarre... real cute...
Does this remind anyone else of The Price is Right?
Dirk Dorkelson @ Feb 7th 2008 6:31PM
There's a guy on my friends list who has the "Seriously" achievement. Amazingly, there are other achievements he's missing, some of the ones for playing as Dom and some of the COG tag ones.
Jayslacks @ Feb 7th 2008 7:34PM
Jesus, Dustin, does Epic PAY you money to post about Gears of War once a week...

cool off. This is something funny, and nothing "Serious" lol...Would you rather have no news today or something to have a good laugh at?..
thought so;)
In my opinion, GOW2 should have a achievement were you get 20,000 kils, and GOW 2 will have one with 30,000..Imagine the fun of that:P
ThisIsChamp @ Feb 7th 2008 8:17PM
Typo:/ I ment GOW 3 should have 30,000 kills....
:P

One thing I always wondered was what if there was a really good multiplatform game coming out and the developers refused to put achievements in the 360 version? Like they just didn't care for them in their game. Would Microsoft budge?
Graham @ Feb 7th 2008 10:58PM
"GoW's famous (and nearly impossible to obtain) "Seriously" achievement" Far from "nearly impossible" if you have enough spare time on your hands.
Mr.ESC @ Feb 7th 2008 11:29PM
Shouldn't it be "yeah really" or "O rlly?"
The difference is that you can kill more than 10 opponents per game in the club.
In gears basically you have to kill 100 opponent’s per day so in 100 days you can get the seriously achievement. Basically the requirements are: Being superb at Gears of war, having an extraordinary connection so you can be the host 90% of the times so you can either abuse of the host advantage or just keep the game going, (Hosts in GOW are f*gs, the moment they lose, the moment they abandon the match and that screws everything. For some reason GOW only counts the kills if you finish the match and only in Ranked) and finally having literally an assload of patience, I simply couldn’t play GOW more than 3 weeks in fact forget GOW I couldn’t play any game online more than 3 weeks. Multiplayer simply bores me unless I pwn and I mean pwn not just being good at the game but being the first.
Why developers force people to play in ranked? Yeah very nice if you plan to spend your life playing online but for the rest is such a pain in the balls. Epic could learn a lot from valve.
Tah @ Feb 8th 2008 1:37AM
i dunno wtf the deal is with nearly impossible seriously achievement....its really not hard if u dont suck and u actually enjoyed the multiplayer enough to actually play if for any period of time......i have friends on my list with 60,000 kills at this point and granted, gears is his life, but, im up to about 14,000 execution kills now and i only played for 1-2 hours like 4 days a week..it just took 3 months to do so....so its not hard, again, if u dont suck and u actually want to get it
mnemo @ Feb 8th 2008 3:09AM
You guys obviously didn't notice Gears of War FOR WINDOWS having TWO "Seriously" achievements: "Not So Serious ... - Kill 10,000 people in versus player match total" (20G) and "Seriously ... - Kill 10,000 people in versus ranked match total" (40G).
Dustin Burg @ Feb 8th 2008 3:20AM
yeah, we're aware of it ... it's just that we don't care about the Windows version.
mnemo @ Feb 8th 2008 4:06AM
Well, I had fun playing it on Windows again with the new content. But 2x 10.000 is even more than 10.001. ;-)
neech uk @ Feb 8th 2008 6:50AM
aint graw 1 heavyweight achievement the same baiscally but its worth less points. btw there is a way 2 glitch all the gears online achievements including seriouly so its not really that hard for all ppl 2 get, if u get it the rite way then yeah sure it takes ages but not by any means is it hard 2 get
Nessman @ Feb 10th 2008 1:48PM
the demo was really quite good so i'm thinking i might buy this one..
SERIOUSLY
