Last night's newly new
Bungie Weekly Update was an informative little bugger as team Bungie talks, reveals and explains how they plan on fixing
Halo 3's controversial melee. Their explanation of the melee fix and subsequent comparison of
Halo 2 and
Halo 3's melee is a lengthy read, so here's the cliff notes version. After the fix, the melee in
Halo 3 should feel less random and there will be more "dual melee deaths", because Bungie employs smart people whose sole purpose in life is to fix melee problems. Just trust. Bungie also mentions that the auto-update (which includes the melee fix and uber l33t Elite Commando shoulders) has been passed on to MS cert and shall descend on the masses sometime this month.
Oh yeah, Bungie also confirmed plans to add a "best of" community Forged maps playlist in the near future. Oh shoot, they also mentioned that there's going to be a Valentines Day playlist beginning next Wednesday. Oh double shoot ... ah, heck with it. There's just too much goodness in this week's Bungie Weekly Update, so make the jump and get learned. That's what we did and so should you.

Finally, a melee system fix!
I'll still totally suck at Halo, but at least I can't blame it on the BS melee system anymore.

Bungie is the best

I'm beginning to agree more and more everyday.

Whats your email?

Bout time Bungie actually acknowledges the fan base and come down off what they think is there godly gaming position. (COD4 taken top spot anyone). If this truly is a fix to the melee system I could possibly be convinced to return to play.

Bungie recognized and talked about fixing the melee for a while now, among other things. They aren't "finally getting off their high horse." It's just finally being implemented after being worked on for weeks/months/whatever. They've been acknowledging the fan base for a long time.

Oh, and Dustin, I think you meant "new playlists" in the title. Sorry, don't mean to be a grammar nazi, I just don't want some n00b giving you crap...like me.
Dustin Burg @ Feb 10th 2008 2:04AM
fixified

TEAM SWAT?! where are you....
n0thx1ng @ Feb 9th 2008 3:50PM
I can see Double Kills occurring more after this "fix". Just like when two people are sword fighting, some guy throws a nade and kills both of them.
Orenthol @ Feb 9th 2008 4:13PM
Now if only they'd add a custom game search.
But then that'd make sense.. and they're afraid of taking people away from their precious matchmaking. (They actually said so, locked topics about it, became incredibly unresponsive, and hid it under the rug, all whilst the moronic fanbase didn't give a single damn, save for a few select people... not to mention the websites/blogs that ignored it!)

Game has been out since Sept. IMO talking about fixing and fixing are 2 totally different things. Bungie said they were going to be releasing a fix for it long ago and they never did. The only reason they are deciding to do anything about it is because they have gotten a reality check from top played xbox live game list. They are not invincible they have to listen to there fans or else the WILL lose fans.BTW I was the one waiting in line at midnight to get my 170 dollar legendary edition. The SP was the only good part about that game.
Erik @ Feb 14th 2008 7:39PM
Don't you mean $130? Because thats how much I payed at release, and if you payed $170 for it, you got ripped off. But it's a good thing they fixed it, I haven't had high speed for a while and would like to come back to a fixed Halo 3.
Jayslacks @ Feb 9th 2008 6:56PM
Thank God. My dreams are finally being answered. Now, Otogi and Otogi 2 on Backcompac please. Like, right now.
Jeramy @ Feb 9th 2008 7:16PM
i played a lot of halo 2 back in the day. when they released the auto-update that drastically changed (in my opinion) a few gameplay elements, i found the game appalling. people started throwing grenades like crazy and using melee every damn second. it really pissed me off that i basically had to reformulate my strategy for the whole game. unless i play a lot right when the update's released, i'm going to be at a disadvantage against people who have adjusted to the new system.
George Arauz @ Feb 9th 2008 7:41PM
Another reason why i love Bungee
Tricause @ Feb 10th 2008 2:54AM
I agree with Orenthol. Search for custom games needs to be added, or I'm not coming back.
kyle.massin @ Feb 15th 2008 12:00AM
@Eric
I'm from Canada and it cost 170$ for the legendary edition. As it did for the legendary edition anywhere in Canada.

you can have energy sword fights if you time your sword lunges wellenough(your swords hit with the other swords instead of the other player)
