In a recent interview with
MTV Multiplayer, Mr. loose lips himself,
Shane Kim (VP of Microsoft Game Studios) talked up Microsoft's 2008 lineup and let slip some Rare news. When asked about the status of Rare's ever secretive and once thought to be
canceled Banjo Kazooie 3, Kim responded saying that he was "super-excited about what they're doing with 'Banjo'" and that he thinks it will "be a big hit for us this holiday." Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let us repeat that.
Banjo Kazooie 3 will be a big hit for Microsoft
this holiday. This holiday! So, if Kim can be trusted, we guess we'll be seeing some fuzzy bear and bird fun sometime later this year. And that's a good thing, because another year without
Banjo news would have been nearly fatal to hardcore Rare fanboys.

This is gonna be a console seller i seen a million pissed fanboys that aint getting this on there ps3 that are contemplating buying a 360 for this.It will be the best decision rare and microsoft make this year.
Ravage NZ @ Feb 12th 2008 3:02PM
why would ps3 owners be pissed this is not going to be on their platform?
Knight Marquise @ Feb 12th 2008 11:13AM
Never played prior versions of BK, is this truly a title to be excited about?
flameofdoom666 @ Feb 12th 2008 11:37AM
Yes it is.

When did punctuation die?
Tony @ Feb 12th 2008 11:29AM
I'm a lot more excited about this than I was initially. I'm sure different teams are involved, but my faith in rare has increased since Viva Pinata came out. I hope BK remains true to that... I remember in an interview they admitted they relied too much on collect-a-thons, so hopefully that will remain rare in this title.
The 360 really needs more platformers. If this does well enough, maybe it might convince some other developers to bother too.
flameofdoom666 @ Feb 12th 2008 11:39AM
Why did you loose faith?
I really think Grabbed by the GHoulies, Kameo and maybe Perfect Dark Zero are veryyy underrated. The art style and creativity is insane. Perfect Dark Zero is really the only disappointment, but it is still a great game.
Tony @ Feb 12th 2008 1:06PM
Well, we also have to factor in the later N64 days and the GameCube days. I simply don't think those three titles really made up for all of that. PDZ is fun in co-op to me, but so is any FPS. Kameo was neat at first, but I got tired of it very quickly.
I would agree they're underrated in the sense that they're unfairly maligned, but I certainly don't think they compare to Rare's earlier efforts or Viva Pinata.

this year?
is it a good sign that no one has seen anything from this game yet?
Jonah Falcon @ Feb 12th 2008 12:42PM
No one saw anything from Dead Rising til the demo sprung out of nowhere. How'd that work out?
Gary Harwell @ Feb 12th 2008 1:10PM
Rare is notorious for being incredibly secretive about their projects. I happen to be one of these said "fanboys" who have followed them since the SNES days. They, *ahem* rarely, ever release material or information prior to the release. A strange method of going about things for sure, they've always believed it allowed them to work at their own pace. Of course that means there is still a very good chance, knowing Rare, that this game gets pushed to 2009 (or even to Xbox720, for that matter).
rockeranimefreak @ Feb 12th 2008 12:27PM
This game is on the top of my holiday 08 list! definitely!

Oh hells yes. FINALLY. I have been waiting for this one for a while. Original Banjo was amazing. 2nd was great, but never recaptured the first's impact for me personally. That game made N64 worth having for me as a kid.
Edzo04 @ Feb 12th 2008 3:39PM
