iTunes offers Rock Band inspired album

Heading over to the official iTunes website one of our eagle-eyed readers noticed Apple is now offering an album that is inspired by the Rock Band track list for download to your iPod (which will make a great track list for Harmonix's iPod game Phase). The 74 track, faux-album, includes nearly every retail and downloadable song available for the rhythm-action title and rings in at an

Wow, how are we to ever get all these tracks for less? I guess we're stuck. Durrr...
R0B3RT @ Feb 14th 2008 2:42PM
I saw this earlier this week on itunes. i scoffed at the price since there is an easier and freeier way to get music.

Yeah! Fight teh system!

I suppose one could fight the system on this but.... A big part of me thinks that if these songs should actually sell well and bands begin to see that Rock Band is a money maker for them, then you just might see a lot more content for Rock Band which would be a win-win for consumers in the end.

Apple is nothing if not consistent in their monopolistic practices

Missing the Xbox 360 Exclusive tracks on the Feb. OXM disc.

I'll be downloading these tonight...for free. Piracy FTW!
SugarDaddy @ Feb 14th 2008 3:11PM
Rock Band sure has a lot of crappy music... Now a Guitar Hero album... well, that would be something. Oh wait...

I'm usually the first to stand behind an Apple decision, but this is nothing if not silly.
They offer full albums for less than if you bought each track separately...so I don't know WHAT the hell is going on. Perhaps someone forgot to flip the "pay less" switch?

Not sure which one you mean, they all seem to be operating on our end.

From http://xbox.joystiq.com all of the Gallery links for this post point to "http:///" for me.
Jomolungma @ Feb 14th 2008 4:30PM
ditto... gallery link just returns http:/// in the browser
Xav de Matos @ Feb 14th 2008 4:35PM
Oh, that's actually an internal issue. For ease of use I've put the gallery within the post and inside the actual post the images work fine. We're trying to figure it out, apologies.

Rock Band has a lot of great tracks, but I'm so much more of a full album person as it is. I don't buy compilations like this in general, let alone one that costs half of what the full game package does lol
I'd rather pay another $1 (or whatever it is) on new songs to play in the game, honestly.
bfj @ Feb 14th 2008 4:56PM
how is that a price gouge? they may discount albums, but this is basically an itunes essential, which don't get discounted. it was made for convenience, not value
Granteezy @ Feb 14th 2008 5:29PM
Hardly gouging, as 99c is the going rate for a song. It would be gouging if they were charging triple specifically for Rock Band tracks, but that clearly isn't the case.
