Rumor: Fable 2 ships May 30

According to a listing on the Amazon UK product page for Fable 2, the anticipated sequel to Peter Molyneux's original Xbox-exclusive role-playing game, a date has been set for a spring release. The listing shows Fable 2 will hit store shelves on May 30.Take this with a giant retailer wants preorders grain of salt, but it could make sense. If Gears of War 2 was to hit in fall of 2008 (Read: naw son!) then Fable 2 could be the game that leads into the fourth quarter push much like Crackdown did in 2007. However, Fable 2 is a big franchise for Microsoft and would most likely ship during the busy holiday season. Also, retailers are sort of keen on picking release dates out of hats.

i thought this was a fall release? what's wrong with big games dropping from one month from each other?
also would GeOW 2 really show up this year?
it seems like yesterday i was having fun with the first one...also there haven't been any news updates for it like Resistance 2.

It WAS yesterday that I was having fun with GoW1 (and the day before that, and the day before that), and I bought it on release day!

I never played the original Fable so I might have to check this one out. It looks pretty impressive from what I've seen of it so far.

So it's going to release on a Friday when summer is just starting for most people instead of during the historically profitable holiday season??
I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head though already. Retailers and preorders.

I HIGHTLY doubt this is true. And furthermore I hope it isn't. I've got enough games to play as it is. I'd rather it be pushed to late Summer or Fall even.
But either way I'll be buying the game.

Launching games in the christmas period is good - yes, but look at PGR4 last year. It was lost within all of the bigger releases.
I'd welcome a spring/summer release. It gets terribly boring throughout these periods.

This rumor is complete BS. This game will be lucky to be released in 2008. Lionhead is infamous for delays and over-hyping and over-promising.

I am hoping you are correct that it isn't coming out may,,,, where is the post xmas game lull.... I am so backed up on games,,, I am counting on GTA 4 being the last game so I can catch up on the 30 some great games that have come out since last aug....

I wish it were true, but I highly doubt it. Btw didn't Oblivion end up being released in May or around there? I'm sure the game can pull in the sales even if it isn't the holiday season.

Fable 2 will not come out in May. Coming from someone who spends alot of time on the Lionhead community forums. I can tell you it'll be late October, early November. PM himself has alreay stated late 2008.........It always interest me in how people actually believe retailers........it's beyond me. You want a date? Wait for LH and MS to announce it.

I doubt it'll be released in 2008. Late 2009 is a good estimate.

I was just at three different gamestops looking for Fable the lost chapters...and while there they told me they have in their system an October release date so they can start to take preorders. So it could be anytime in October/November

when its released ima buy it right away so if lion head comes out with another fable 2 expansion that u have to buy and beat again ima be pissed it made me mad in the first place they did that cause its retarted so hopefully they use xbox live merket place to there advantage like to buy the expasion instead of buying the game again.
