Rumor: Upcoming Rock Band DLC discovered

After the break, we've posted what we feel to be the best guess to what the unannounced and unreleased songs are which was compiled by Xanthous over at the Rock Band forums. We say best guess because the DLC data that was found only listed the song names and not the artists. As a result, there are some song titles that could be associated with a few different bands. Also, remember that this list is by no means official (even though data like this has predicted future Rock Band DLC) and was discovered through semi-hacking means. Then again, we're rather confident that these songs will get a Rock Band release seeing that Harmonix's hmxsean already acknowledged the leak saying that these tracks are "unconfirmed and subject to change" and to "stay tuned for confirmation of Rock Band DLC closer to their release". An official statement that sounds more like an "oops, we're bad at keeping secrets" remark than a flat out denial.
Anyway, quit reading and get clicking! There's rumored Rock Band DLC to analyze after the break ... now go!

I'm glad to see some love for the Pinkerton album by Weezer. I hope to see more. =) Any Weezer would do, though.
Toby @ Feb 14th 2008 9:44AM
Holy crap, the Portal Song is on there!
Kizzle @ Feb 14th 2008 2:10PM
There are many songs with that title, as has already been discussed. Don't get your hopes up.
Rawin @ Feb 14th 2008 2:31PM
Jonathan Coulton is the writer of the Portal song, "Still Alive" so your claim that he should not get his hopes up is complete and utter idiocy. It -is- that song, not 'some other random song also by that name blah blah blah.'
Chase @ Feb 14th 2008 7:11PM
Yes, Jonathan Coulton is the writer of the Portal song, but as it says in the article, only song titles were found. The artists listed are all best guesses, not definite.
Rawin @ Feb 14th 2008 11:25PM
I don't know how I missed that part of the article. My apologies.
Jomolungma @ Feb 14th 2008 9:52AM
I'm stoked by this list. Only question is - when? With March already tentatively announced, and only two more Mondays in February, we may be waiting a bit for some of this content. My guess is, once the individual instruments are all for sale (I think the guitar will be the last), then the DLC will really start flowing.
Gemini Ace @ Feb 14th 2008 9:53AM
Sweet, Behind Blue Eyes.
Any word on when the full albums will be releasing? i see the Nirvana up there.
R0B3RT @ Feb 14th 2008 9:54AM
Why cant we get like green day or system of a down or disturbed or something other more rock worthy songs.
dunnypop @ Feb 14th 2008 10:48AM
I don't think those bands are on the same record labels.... maybe Disturbed.
Rae @ Feb 14th 2008 12:14PM
lol green day? they suck balls
we need some motley crue, skid row, van halen, and dream theater
Jeramy @ Feb 14th 2008 7:59PM
oh no. oh please dear god no.
Bryan T @ Feb 14th 2008 9:55AM
Songs I like:
Hysteria
Come As You Are
and Breed...although not as much. I am loving me some more music
Doc @ Feb 14th 2008 9:58AM
Agreed this is good news, this totally makes up for the "trash pack" and butt rock that they have been selling as of late. Just keep'em coming!
peeweejd @ Feb 14th 2008 9:59AM
there are some awesome songs there.
Wilson @ Feb 14th 2008 10:00AM
OMFG! Still Alive! I'm so getting Rock Band!
Demolition Elmo @ Feb 14th 2008 11:10AM
Same here! Shame I have to wait until they announce a date for the UK version.
This was a triumph...
Wilson @ Feb 14th 2008 6:50PM
I'm making a note here, HUGE SUCCHESS
Sofa King Pimpn @ Feb 14th 2008 10:05AM
I must say I am continuously impressed by the amount of DLC that Harmonix is releasing. This list of songs is worthy of more XBL Point Card purchases - especially for "Nevermind" alone.
cranium @ Feb 14th 2008 10:11AM
Hysteria? i need new pants. Finally some bass lovin.
Loban @ Feb 14th 2008 10:37AM
NEED MORE BOSTON!!!!!
dunnypop @ Feb 14th 2008 10:49AM
there's going to be so much Rock Band DLC...
I hope they add some extra features to the game though... especially an online Band World Tour mode.
GoldenPie @ Feb 14th 2008 11:01AM
Instead of releasing heaps and heaps of DLC, maybe they could get round to releasing the actual game in the UK/Australia?
Mal @ Feb 14th 2008 11:08AM
I keep holding my breath for more Queen, but specifically, where is Bohemian Rhapsody in all of this? I mean seriously, isn't it the point to act a bit like Wayne and Garth while playing these games?
invictus1er @ Feb 14th 2008 11:15AM
Why is everyone so excited for this? Yeah its more DLC. But its the same artists that we already have seen and heard! Why is there not more of a variety?
Nirvana (Please stop, wasn't that great of a band)
Weezer
Rolling Stones
STP
Foo Fighter (atleast give us Everlong!)
It seems that MTV and Harmonix haven't been able to or is unwilling to extend the invite to any other artist. Could this be a money issue? Do they not want to pay any more bands for use of thier songs? Is it a difficult job/task for them to ACTUALLY make the songs into Rock Band Tracks?
Honestly I would be happy if I say more of a diversity in the music that is being brought in as DLC.
maybe:
At The Drive In
Daft Punk (Robot Rock)
Built To Spill
My Morning Jacket
Mars Volta
Modest Mouse
Band of Horses
TV On The Radio
Just to name a few...
Brian @ Feb 14th 2008 1:50PM
Wow. I agree on all your points, invictus1er, ESPECIALLY the bands you have listed there...it's like you've read my mind (or stole my ipod). I'd kill to play "Wolf Like Me" or "One Armed Scissor" or "One Big Holiday" ...and while we're at it, how bout some Arcade Fire? The Walkmen? Wolf Parade? LCD Soundsystem?
Props to your taste in music, my friend. Props.
Kizzle @ Feb 14th 2008 2:14PM
Ugh.
Those bands in your list wouldn't sell as well as, say, a Nirvana pack. They're just providing what people want.
I did get a laugh out of your "is it too hard for them?"/"can they not get more tracks?" questions, though. It's EA and MTV. They can do whatever they want. They can come into your house and kick your dog.
I'm not sure what you're thinking anyway, that's a pretty lackluster list you gave. Daft Punk in Rock Band? No thanks. Maybe if they bring out Geek Band or something.
Jeramy @ Feb 14th 2008 8:02PM
yeah, it would be a shame if they continued to follow the "popular bands pretty much everyone's heard of" model for choosing dlc. i would kill for some indie music, but it's true that most songs i would gladly shell out money for wouldn't get many downloads from the rest of the community. surely they can at least humor me a little.
Barbasol @ Feb 15th 2008 3:03PM
I agree, it's not just sticking with popular bands, it's a lack of band variety in general. I'm guessing there are royalty problems or something. Not sure why... releasing a song for Rock Band should be pretty much like printing money for the band involved.
Granteezy @ Feb 14th 2008 12:02PM
OMG Pinball Wizard!!!
pasteymofo @ Feb 14th 2008 12:23PM
If Hysteria is the Def Leppard song, I'm gonna beat somebody over the head at Harmonix. Muse deserves it's own 3 song pack if you ask me. >_
Jeramy @ Feb 14th 2008 8:04PM
oh, truly. one of the few good things about gh3 is the inclusion of muse, even though they pretty much negated all of the good aspects by making it an assload of repetitive strumming.
Tr3y MoNey @ Feb 14th 2008 12:24PM
MUSE would be DoPe
chad @ Feb 14th 2008 1:53PM
Any chance of getting some Jimi Hendrix or Prince???!!!!
Kizzle @ Feb 14th 2008 2:11PM
Prince would be awesome. They need to throw "Kiss" up there. Anyone who can yell the screaming near the end should get a 16x multiplier.
Toby @ Feb 14th 2008 3:32PM
@Rawin
Thanks for speakin for me
invictus1er @ Feb 14th 2008 3:40PM
Prince in Rock Band? No thanks. Maybe if they bring out Queer Band or something.
;]
Gutcheck @ Feb 14th 2008 5:04PM
Don't worry, Hysteria is NOT the Def Leppard song. That would go against Rock Bands policy of putting FRIGGIN nothing from the 80s on their damn game. Oh..and their policy of releasing DLC from the same damn bands over and over and over again. Someone shoot me.
Mrbishop77 @ Feb 15th 2008 1:17AM
Nothing from the 80's? mmmmm Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden, Police.....
alexonfire @ Feb 15th 2008 3:05PM
WTF!!! i made the complete list of possible bands on the rockband.scorehero forum 4 hours before that xanthous guy. it's on page 3 of the thread where this was originally posted. get your facts straight!
Joe Peters @ Feb 29th 2008 7:51AM
I think Rock Band is doing a pretty good job so far they release songs i listen to so i usually buy quite a few i just wish they would release more of a variety of early to mid 90's rock bands like Blind Melon, Hootie and the Blowfish, Toadies and Collective Soul songs like these they would just be fun to play
