Left 4 Dead confirmed console exclusive to 360

The new game from the newly-acquired-by-Valve studio Turtle Rock Studios, Left 4 Dead has had a fair bit of press from the PC side of the gaming press, but we've heard relatively little in relation to a console version. Well that's over, as OXM recently revealed that the game will not only be appearing on PCs, but that the 360 version will be the only one appearing on any console. The folks from OXM got to play two scenario's (read: levels) on PC and one level on a 360 dev kit. As a minor point (but a good sign) the names of those levels recall the game's horror roots: "The Hospital" and "Cornfield."
The second part to this news is the identity of the developer who will be handling the 360 port (Valve and Turtle Rock won't be working with it hands-on). That dev is the creator of Halo 2 DLC, Certain Affinity. The 16 man team with former Halo team members will be "handle(ing) 360-specific elements like matchmaking, Live support, console customization, and 360 gameplay tweaks."

Meh, the game seems kinda lame though..

It's a shooter from Valve. That's all I need to know to get my preorder in.

I really hope this game turns out to be good because the previews look great so far.

Not surprised given Valve's (documented) dislike of PS3 and the fact that the Orange Box sold better on the 360.

When they describe it as "survival horror" do they mean that it will play like a Resident Evil or Silent Hill or is it just going to be a copy of that god-awful Clive Barker game? Maybe a remake of that Zombie's Revenge arcade game.
Woo-hoo, 4 player co-op crap! And it's exclusive to boot.
Wait a minute, the wiki entry describes it as just a stand alone version of zombies in Halo.
This is a "must-have?"
Maybe I'm wrong. I'm used to being wrong.

Take a look at the previews before you troll next time, then get back to us about "4 player co-op crap"

This, Episode 3 and another game sounds like the next Orange Box.
Could be Portal 2

It looks good, but it seems REALLY frustrating/tough
SpekOpz @ Feb 19th 2008 10:17AM
Awesome, keep them coming Valve!

Must buy. Wanted it for PC but no way my laptop can run that.
If you are a zombie junkie like me, you should get into the comic series "Walking Dead". Great stuff.

This game is basically a co-op fps RB6V game that has zombies in it instead of terrorist. Team work is critical to win. You can play as humans and zombies.
This game is gonna be hot and is a definate purchase for me. I hope more fanboys give this game the attention it deserves with it being a 360 exclusive and all.

All right I watched all the videos and read the big 21/22 page preview up on L4D411.
4 player co-op crap. I stand by it.
This could have been a CS mod. There's no point in it being a stand alone entity.
They give you a level and you and 3 buddies just keep killing constantly spawning zombies until what, time runs out and you get a score? Escape the level?
It looks more like Zombie's Revenge than I thought.
Portal is a must-have. COD4 is a must-have. So far this is an expansion pack.
Price it like one and I'll pick it up. Tell me more about the levels, goals, the point of what is essentially CS with no objective and respawning bots and I might pick it up.
There seems to be an awful lot of enthusiasm for this title floating around the net and other than it having Valve's name attached to it I don't see what makes it so deserving. Zombies, maybe? Is the hype all a bunch of 14 year old boys?
There's still along time until release and I'm sure a lot of information missing.
I'm puzzled.
Matt @ Feb 19th 2008 11:08AM
It does sound similar to Zombie Panic: Source, but having Valve's name attached to it is a big deal.
Sean Elliot of Games for Windows magazine played it a few months ago and he thought it was already a finished product...and an amazing one at that. Elliot is probably the biggest FPS junkie around...I'll take his word for it.

This is the reason I got my 360.....Co-op zombie killing fun :D
