N+ ninja kicks its way onto the XBLA
Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday is here and it brings with it a brand new adventurous friend. An obsessive gold collecting friend that goes by the name of N+.Available today for 800 Microsoft points is Metanet Software's highly anticipated N+, a graphically enhanced version of the original N, where you get to become the ninja you've always wanted to be (sorry, no pirates are allowed). N+ features a multitude of levels, a beefy multiplayer experience and a level editor that's sort of like Halo 3's Forge, but in a 2D kind of way. In the gallery below, we've posted 50 brand new N+ screenshots for you to admire and ogle over. Ogle away kids and download N+ straight away.

Gallery links on the front page are broken, but fine within the article.

I can't wait to go home a download it... In fact, I think I'm starting to get sick now!

I tried the trial, and I liked it. I played it back on my Mac when it was just "N".
The only gripe is the smallness of the text and the playing field.

Damn you Microsoft, there are AAA games I want to play, and here you are getting me hooked on another casual game. When are you guys gonna ease up and let me play the games I already have.
The xbox 360 has too many game...
Nuff said, Im gettting a ps3 so I don't have this problem.

Casual game? Have you played N before?
Jcarpio @ Feb 20th 2008 11:02AM
i played the trial this morning and i was having problems with the controls.. Maybe it's just the flu affecting my coordination. but the guy seemed floaty.
I'll give it another shot though.

I haven't grabbed the download yet (stupid work), but I'm curious whether you played the original. The guy is intentionally fairly "floaty," as that's often part of the game's dynamic of timing jumps and skimming across the ceilings, etc. Can you clarify if you mean he seems floaty as a new user, or if you're saying he seems floatier than the original?
Can't wait to grab it, can't wait to check out the multiplayer, just can't wait in general! Such a great game.
Jcarpio @ Feb 20th 2008 12:49PM
Hey Tucker..
Nope, I hadn't played N before.. I thought the floatiness was caused by the console controls. But if it's part of the deal, then that's fine.

Fantastic little game but I cant quite bring myself to pay £6.75 for it (I wish they would use adult money instead of "points") So no sale, will play the free PC version instead. Would have bought it at 400 "points"
Etchasketchist @ Feb 20th 2008 2:05PM
Agreed. I probably will end up paying the 800 but I'm not going to be pleased about it. There need to be more 400 point games and this one seems perfect for that kind of deal.
JohnHeist @ Feb 20th 2008 4:26PM
aren't there supposed to be some 500 levels?
It was fun, I might pay for the full version.

I don't want to be accused of defending Microsoft but for the amount of effort the dev put into making this release shine on XBLA I don't think 10 bux (American) is an excessive sum to charge. The developer should definitely be fairly compensated for their work if it is quality, and in this case it certainly appears to be so. Shiny HD graphics, lots of new graphics, completely new features in the multiplayer department - this isn't a trivial amount of work.
I agree that I would buy way more games if they were 5 bucks instead, and maybe lots of others would too, but considering how easily I, personally, will plop down 20 bucks for a disc-based game of questionable quality I don't think 10 is an unreasonable sum to ask. Think of your money as funding the developer, not Microsoft.
Besides, have you seen how much Popcap charges for their similarly "simple" games? 10 bucks is a steal for items of true quality like N+, Poker Smash, Pac Man Championship Edition (really fantastic surprise, that one), or Marathon Durandal.
