Would You Rather ... Spartans! Edition

In our continuing effort to bring you fresh and interesting content, X3F presents Would You Rather ... a weekly feature that asks you the hard questions. The point? If you had to choose one or the other, which would you go for?
In week two of WUR we ask you to decide between a true sequel to Halo in the form of Halo 4 or a Halo first-person massively multiplayer online title. So, putting the Halo storyline aside, we want to know:

Feel free to share the reasons for your vote in the comments. We'll share the results of the poll during the next edition of Would You Rather ... which hits X3F every Wednesday.
Last weeks surprising results can be find after the jump ... Engage!

In a stunningly close race the X3F army has spoken and you decided you'd want Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots to get the Xbox 360 port-treatment rather than have the Mass Effect trilogy remain an Xbox 360 console exclusive. The arguments and points were both interesting and heated and we encourage you to discuss this week's WUR in the comments below!

I would rather play a single player Halo 4 game because I just don't have time to play online games these days what with the 17 month old twins and all.
sifer2400 @ Feb 20th 2008 12:52PM
halo 4 mmo's fail :D
Gemini Ace @ Feb 20th 2008 12:53PM
I think I would rather be Master Chief in Halo 4. I'm not sure a MMO would appeal to me. I just want to frag.
CharleyTony @ Feb 20th 2008 12:53PM
I still want halo4 to come out, but I voted Halo MMO, this series has, up to now , had only straight sequels. I want to see more types of games that take part in thi halo universe. Im sure Bungie will still get a say in the projects and that will almost assure quality games.
next would you rather ... Shadowrun ????
FatalisticDread @ Feb 20th 2008 12:57PM
A Halo MMO would fail because it's not WoW. That's it. Don't waste the time making a crappy MMO when you have a guaranteed hit by making H4.
Josh @ Feb 20th 2008 12:57PM
I'm not an mmo fan and we know that mc's journey is not over, its just getting started.
DjDATZ @ Feb 20th 2008 1:03PM
For sure MC in Halo 4.
Spartan. Not Spartain. XAV. lol
Stephen @ Feb 20th 2008 5:41PM
Spartains are so much cooler than Spartans!
Sam @ Feb 20th 2008 1:04PM
if they made the monthly payment of this MMO at $0, i would vote for it. I'd rather participate in an engaging story then frag n00bs.
thisguyrighthere @ Feb 20th 2008 1:18PM
The only thing that's kept me away from MMO's is the subscription fee. I refuse to play anything that requires a subscription.
Subscriptions are a trap. You pay for the time whether you're playing or not and if you're paying then you may as well be playing then you're stuck playing a game even when you really don't want to just because you're paying for it then if a bunch of your friends bail on it or you just get bored you stop and cancel your subscription then later if you get the urge to play it for a weekend you have to re-subscribe for a period of time just to get a day or two of game time in.
For it to be worth the money you have to play it all the time. I'd rather not play them at all then go through all that.
stinger503 @ Feb 20th 2008 1:19PM
Being a SPARTAN in an Halo MMO? Hell no! I have a grunty thirst ;)
mattclarkie @ Feb 20th 2008 1:30PM
Halo, Halo2, and Halo3 have all been brilliant games, and I feel that a new Trilogy could easily be made continuing on from the ending of Halo 3.
Alternatively a pre-quel could be made in which you play as the Master Chief, but set around the fall of Reach and the destruction of the Spartans, up until the point the chief is put in stasis on the Autumn in Halo opening FMV.
Whereas a MMO would be tedious.
Michael Paul @ Feb 20th 2008 1:33PM
I like to think the Marvel Universe MMO died due to them realizing that 100,000 Spider-Men wouldn't work out well. Same for any Main Character in any other MMO...
TORO @ Feb 20th 2008 1:54PM
agreed
Urza @ Feb 20th 2008 1:38PM
Halo 4.. if anyone was satisfied with the Halo 3 ending, they're nuts.
Etchasketchist @ Feb 20th 2008 1:57PM
I think Bungie foreshadowed the next part of the Halo story in the opening sequence of H3. Cortana talking about selecting John as her Master Chief and all that. It's gonna a prequel. Personally i think they should branch off entirely and do something on the non-human side. I think they should come up with a Halo Jr. thing for the kids. A 3rd person platformy thing where you play as a grunt. Or Lego Halo. That'd be the jam.
Ranus Studios @ Feb 20th 2008 2:00PM
Much as I don't like Halo anyway, at least in Halo 4 there would be a greater semblance of a plot. I can't stand online games, either.
Neuromancer @ Feb 20th 2008 2:05PM
I think Master Chief is kind of a dumb character, no offense to anyone but I'd rather play as my own custom made Spartan.
Mike-453 @ Feb 20th 2008 2:45PM
Then.....you kind of don't know the Chief, or much about Spartans for that. Spartans are not interesting characters personailty-wise at all, MMO with everyone as a spartan would sux.
GoldenPie @ Feb 20th 2008 2:20PM
I'd rather play as the Arbiter.
rockeranimefreak @ Feb 20th 2008 2:23PM
Halo 4! teh chief returns to earth! to kill aliens and predators whilst chewing bubble gum! :)
Zach S @ Feb 20th 2008 2:28PM
OH. MY. GAWD.
Halo MMO? Do we REALLY want the people who play Halo online right now to be TALKING and generally being UGLY and OBNOXIOUS (and 10 years old) on an MMO????!!!!
Please MAKE IT GO AWAY!!!!
I like the concept, but if it was to actually be executed, it would be such a terrible experience to play, I don't think it'd be worth it.
Mike-453 @ Feb 20th 2008 2:41PM
John-117 in his adventure after Halo 3, not called Halo 4. But preferably his attempt at survival on a new dangerous world surrounded by an entire multi-species civilization.
Neuromancer @ Feb 20th 2008 2:59PM
@ Mike 453:
Maybe I'm not steeped in Halo mythology like you are, I've only played Halo 3 but I know a silly character when I see one. At least with my own character I'd be able to put myself into the game a little more.
wickedpheonix @ Feb 20th 2008 3:23PM
As far as I'm concerned, the only game in the Halo series that had a good story was the first - everything afterward was rather predictable, and repetitive (oh, here's the library level... wondering when this was going to get around in the single player...) which really leaves the multiplayer, and if done right, adding MMO to the Halo formula could work out really well.
xX FearHAVOK Xx @ Feb 20th 2008 3:47PM
halo 4 would be good, but im down for a good old MMO
Rick Mesler @ Feb 20th 2008 3:51PM
Why fix something that is not broken? MMO I think would be a mistake, Halo fans are fraggers at heart.
I would rather play Master Chief in Halo 4, new worlds new challenges....
(queue theme song)
Amber @ Feb 20th 2008 5:31PM
Where's option 3) Shoot myself in the face? That should always be an option.
The Master potty[Taylor is da man] @ Feb 20th 2008 11:23PM
dude play as another Spartan like from the book Ghosts of Onyx, do something new and different dont give us the same old crap. although an MMO would be kinda cool depending on the gameplay maybe KOTOR+OBLIVION+Halo=???
