GDC08: Star Wars - The Force Unleashed gameplay videos
Fresh from GDC08 are a few videos for the upcoming, and looking awesome, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed from LucasArts. The first video is a trailer titled Raxus and showcases the beautiful environments and combat that have been touted as the best thing seen from a Star Wars license since Knights of the Old Republic. The second video, embedded after the jump, is a compilation of gameplay from the floor that literally has us picking our jaws up off the ground. Force pushing trees and knocking them down? Chopping trees down with a lightsaber throw? Do want. Check them out and may the force be with you. Yeah that line was really forced. Ha, pun.

This game looks awesome and I think will be one of the best Star Wars games ever.

When you don't notice it is "the new guy" writing, that's a good thing. Xav's writing style definitely fits in with Richard's and Dustin's.

youre absolutely right, i didnt even notice that he was new and he sounded just like the X3F i know and love. great work Xav.

Yeah, I actually figured this was a post from Dustin, heh.

It's strange. Star Wars happened, and influenced BioWare, so there game looked like Star Wars, but I didn't totally notice all the similarities until I saw this gameplay.

ccoooooooooooooooool..

The more I see gameplay involving stormtroopers holding hands as they fly around, or enemies grabbing onto crates, the more ridiculous it looks.
pandlcg @ Feb 22nd 2008 6:33PM
i'm with you. I think they'd grab on to some stuff, but it looks like everyone has a death grip on anything they touch.
c4v3man @ Feb 22nd 2008 7:56PM
Agreed... it should have some randomness thrown into whether or not the person is able to grab onto the object, and a quick fling of the victim should make him let go... that would be much more fun in the long run anyways.

It still looks like an over-glorified tech demo to me. This apprentince guy seems to have way more powerful force powers than any Sith we've seen in the films, which doesn't make sense.
Also isn't Star Wars supposed to have lots of lightsaber battles? Apart from the fact he holds one in his other arm, I don't think I've seen any actual lightsaber footage from this game yet.
Peff @ Feb 23rd 2008 10:56AM
The point of the game is for him to have more force powers than anyone weve ever seen. thats the whole premise and storyline for this glorious game.
