Intel acquires Offset Software
Lost in the shuffle during the GDC08 news flood was the announcement that Intel had acquired Offset Software, makers of the upcoming, Project Offset. Currently in development for the Xbox 360 and PC, Project Offset is reminiscent of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion with a third-person perspective that doesn't look broken (first-person is also selectable). The game will also feature a multiplayer component, so it actually might be a little more like Two Worlds. Oh, man. We really hope it doesn't turn out like Two Worlds because the for Project Offset trailer looks pretty promising.

I've been following this for a very long time and it really does look promising, their own built engine and whatnot. I also would like to introduce myself, i've been reading this blog and listening to the podcasts since forever it seems(and mind you that is not a bad thing).
My GT is Kaitou Crimson and my real name is Alex, i really don't know why i haven't gotten around to registering and commenting before. Well now i have, that's all from me.

Hopefully it turns out more like COD4/Halo3 quality than Two Worlds/Dark Messiah... those trailers are gorgeous.

I thought Project Offset was the next F.E.A.R. game. Obviously not!
Xav de Matos @ Feb 25th 2008 4:26PM
You're thinking of Project Origin.
Boff @ Feb 26th 2008 9:32AM
Ah thankyou Sir!

GCD08? Greatest Common Denominator?
SugarDaddy @ Feb 25th 2008 5:18PM
Oh, by the way, that game does look pretty promising.

Does any one else think the flying creatures are heavily "inspired" by Lord of the rings nazgul?
I hadn't seen the trailer for this before, any ideas when it comes out?
SytheMaster @ Feb 25th 2008 5:49PM
BTW lovin' the strong community support your giving Xav. You involve yourself a lot more with the community than Dustin, Terrernce and Richard and features like that keep this the best 360 site on the net!

Thanks man. Glad to see people are enjoying the site.

I have been following offset for a while, so to me, old news is old. It looks better than oblivion and the particle effects and graphics are awesome,(it is supposed to be a very easy engine to use too.) very lord of the rings/elder scrolls. the class system on what can beat what is interesting too. i cant wait for this game to come out.

Seriously. This game combines two of my favorite things FPS/TPS and Fantasy. The graphics look stunning and the story is intriguing. I can't wait for this game to be released.

Haha, I was going to send this in awhile ago but I thought it wouldn't be newsworthy. Also, it says in the news section of their site for other sites to not use the embedded video as it is a leak, lol.
Xav de Matos @ Feb 25th 2008 8:00PM
That was in July 2007.
Since then the video was made available, hence the official GT embed.

Oh thanks. I did not know that. Game looks amazing btw :D
