COD4 patch could hit before the weekend

According to a blog post by the Infinity Ward Community Manager, Robert Bowling, the feature patch for COD4 didn't run into any problems in it's encounter with the Microsoft certification demons. He reports that if we're all lucky (and if he gets some work done) the new feature update could go live before the weekend. However like an experienced community manager, he add the caveat that things are never set, and that by no means is the patch "guaranteed" to be online before week's end.
Other than that news, the post contains some talk on COD4's DLC, which is promised to have some "special treat for loyal COD4 players." What that means is anyone's guess at the moment, but Robert also promises that we'll be seeing some screens and a video clip of the new DLC soon. Here's hoping that the Infinity Ward guys can get that patch out before all the weekend players hit the tubes.

So what does the patch fix?
todd @ Feb 27th 2008 8:47PM
Know one thing... When host leaves it puts the game on another host without canceling the game which is a huge issue.
tbmart2 @ Feb 27th 2008 11:53PM
patch will fix the host issues. instead of booting everybody when the host leaves. It will pass the hosting to another player. Also it should fix bandwith issues with ground war; more allocation for less lag. Should also make the sniper weapon more true. So it doesn't take like 4 shots to kill somebody while sniping. It will also make the ACOG scope more acurate. Presently it sucks. Few more fixes as well. No weapons. No maps on this patch. Hope I'm wrong on that.
Intentless @ Feb 28th 2008 8:07AM
By fixing sniping does that mean if they are dead center in the reticle they die just like all the other weapons?
JakubK666 @ Feb 28th 2008 10:17AM
Hopefully it will be a fix not buff. Out of three guys on top of the scoreboard, one is surely a sniper class.
erivera3 @ Feb 27th 2008 6:42PM
This game really is upsetting on many occasions, I really hope they fix a lot of the problems.
CB @ Feb 27th 2008 6:44PM
Can't wait!!
killploki @ Feb 27th 2008 6:57PM
for the dlc maybe they will give some new weapons or the ability to have multiple attachments on a weapon....last time i checked, it was possible to equip a silencer with a scope. you could probably fit a grenade launcher as well.
JangoGod @ Feb 27th 2008 6:59PM
Stuff I hope they fix:
Them random error codes that kick you out of the round
Get points for killing the helicopter
And all them little things, like when the leader leaves, it picks a new guy, party issues, and maybe do some balancing things with the guns.
mcwattersm @ Feb 27th 2008 8:22PM
Am I the only one who noticed the patch on his arm?
Hahah
CB @ Feb 27th 2008 7:29PM
ha I didn't notice that!
Terrence Stasse @ Feb 27th 2008 8:23PM
I'm glad SOMEONE noticed it :)
Van Faulk @ Feb 27th 2008 8:23PM
Maybe this is the patch that makes the game fun!
That's right, internet, I said it. Come get me.
Anticrawl @ Feb 27th 2008 8:20PM
Aww I was gonna say that, you suck.
Seriously though, this game got stale after a while online. Of course it did manage to last me a great deal longer than Halo 3. Atleast Lost Odyssey is awesome and will tide me over til the next good FPS next week.
Etchasketchist @ Feb 27th 2008 8:24PM
Will the DLC be strictly multiplayer stuff? A few new offline missions would be much appreciated.
B Tizo @ Feb 27th 2008 8:24PM
There is no definitive word on what the patch fixes. However, host-migration has been confirmed by IW. It will also address the party situation, I believe. IMO, those are the two things that needed fixing the most. I doubt they will add anything to the SP because, quite frankly, the story is complete. There may be some bugs they address, but other than that there has been no talk of adding any SP story bits.
I hope this patch gets released this weekend. The game is awesome and if they fix the party dropping problem and add host-migration then I'll be happy.

There is "definitive word" on what the patch fixes.

More accurate sniper rifles ftw!
PeterF @ Feb 27th 2008 8:39PM
FTL we already have half of each team sniping its just a pain in the ass if they are better.
Halonut1 @ Feb 28th 2008 2:00AM
This mean that the sniper will actually work now? i mean i'm getting really tired of having the thing dead on someones head and i fire and nothing happens, its like you have to aim up or some shit o.O
Jez @ Feb 28th 2008 4:28AM
Shame they haven't got a fix for the rapid fire controller mod!!
Brucie B @ Feb 28th 2008 6:47AM
Need Patch Now!!!!
Player1 @ Feb 28th 2008 10:18AM
I would take that post with a grain of salt. That same blogger responded to me in his comments saying the patch was at Microsoft for certification, then a month later makes a post saying it was just sent to Microsoft for certification. So yeah, add a month to what he says.
Boff @ Feb 28th 2008 11:17AM
Patch me up baby.
L4MB @ Feb 28th 2008 11:00PM
23: they actually already had sent the patch to certification, and it was rejected, thus they had to rework and resend it.
I'm super stoked on this. hope it hits before saturday.
