It's expected that tomorrow, Showtime Networks
will be announcing that its hit television series
Dexter will be headed into the gaming world with the announcement of
Dexter the video game. Showtime and Marc Ecko Entertainment are said to be developing
Dexter very closely to keep the game's feeling, content and writing as close to the television series as possible. A release date, how fare in development or which platforms have yet to be announced, but it's safe to say that we could be seeing our complicated friend Dexter on the 360 within the next year. Chop chop!

I fucking love dexter....but in all seriousness this type of game could only be a rental.
Roto13 @ Mar 3rd 2008 4:42PM
Dexter is awesome but I don't think I want to play a game where the point is to kill people because you're too messed up NOT to kill people. xP
dumas420 @ Mar 3rd 2008 4:45PM
Great show, but i think it would suck as a game. They should really start comming up with new stuff instead of using movies, and television shows.
Mark @ Mar 3rd 2008 4:44PM
Yeah, I agree with you guys. I like the show... not sure I want to play through a game of it. We'll see how it turns out first.

The Showtime version of Dexter is one of the best shows on TV. The game could be a total bust, but if they give it some good story, it could be a good time. Fingers crossed that it comes out neat.

Great show. Bad game.
ALH @ Mar 3rd 2008 5:21PM
they really need to start making games which are simply inspired by a license and not sticking strictly to the characters and worlds of said license. Kinda like dead rising.
A game where you play a serial killer hunting down other serial killers while covering up your tracks would be pretty cool, but we all know that this is going to suck.
DeadPlasmaCell @ Mar 3rd 2008 5:23PM
One of the best shows around, Don't see how a video game would work though..
/can't wait for season 3 this fall!

Like most, I think it's a great show, but I'm unsure of how great a game it could be. Intruiged none the less.

Just say noooooooooooo please noooooooooooo....

If done correctly this could be another game with proper use of a license ie Riddick. I find the games i enjoy most are of mounting tension. Not going in and killing everyone. If this game has a insight into a killers mind and his pathology, like the show, count me in. Keep it raw and real like the series. With no clear cut choices and this will indeed be one cross over from TV that may surprise us all.
You need the original Actors Voice Work.
You need a good Engine for the game. Unreal.
You need to keep it as Carnal as the show.
Please do not give us ET the game and rely on the license only. I am pleased Mark Ecko is involved.
Here is some trivia Dexter's Girlfriend played by Julie Benz is also Miranda Keyes in Halo 2.

I agree, and it needs to be quite a long game. Unlike Lost : Via Domus which even though short, I thought was great.
For those in the U.K
Dexter airs on ITV1 on Wednesdays 10:30PM. Watch It. It's the best Drama on TV.
makaveli @ Mar 3rd 2008 10:47PM
Why do you guys think the game will suck? It might be awesome! How many hundreds of games are there out there that require you to kill people. We all know Dexter kills only bad people, that's way better than the games out there that kill people indiscriminately.
THA1icarus @ Mar 4th 2008 1:18AM
Well Lost sucked, and they had Ubisoft creating it.
Sorry movies and series are really hard to translate in to games. before you know it you are taking liberty's with the story and making repetitive gameplay.
stukorn @ Mar 4th 2008 5:23AM
i'm looking forward to seeing them ruin one of my favorite shows...
Jeremy Tucker @ Mar 4th 2008 9:06AM
...Marc Ecko?
Pass.
Chal @ Mar 4th 2008 9:07AM
if this were a point and stab adventure, it would be great.
xenocidic @ Mar 12th 2008 12:14AM
sweet show. reservations about a game.
Riley @ Apr 25th 2008 10:11PM
NOOOOOOO. it's my favorite show. they're gonna butcher it. (no pun intended)
Nate @ Apr 11th 2008 4:55PM
I don't think the unreal engine would be good. Maybe something more along the lines as Splinter Cell crossed with a Grand Theft Auto engine would be best. Give you range freedom (go anywhere you want whenever you want) and that ability to sneak around. I think, with the right developement and engine this game could be a great game. I'm buying it no matter what. Even if it does just become a dust collector next to the DVD box sets.
