Huh? Video of the Day: Deadliest Catch Moonboots

Some things are just too odd to not pass along as today we were sent a new commercial for everyone's favorite crab fishing game Deadliest Catch: Alaskan Storm. And ... well, we aren't sure what to make of it. The video shows two of the show's younger "stars" talking about the game and how cool they are, but something is off. It's almost as if the commercial is supposed to appeal to gamers in a "oh, they're our age and are hip like us, cool!" kind of way, but it's just too darn awkward. Maybe awkward isn't a valid description. Corny? Yeah, corny works. Give the video a watch, prepare for awkward confusion and ~~walk~~ run to your local video game store to slap down a Deadliest Catch pre-order. Also, we feel obligated to tell our younger readers to stay away from tobacco and to refrain from ever using the word "moonboots" to dis someone's mother.

If only Mike Rowe did the Deadliest Catch game commercials they might actually put together a good commercial. Actually, they should just make a Dirty Jobs or MythBusters game and I'd buy it.

Lets see, fishing, getting yelled at by your boss/crewmates, getting knocked into the ocean, losing a limb, pneumonia. Hmm.... sums it it to me.

The show's really great... but a game? what do you do? catch crabs...? yay

or maybe they spiced it up a bit where you can shoot harpoons at other boats. and launch a crab army to fight other crab armies. and maybe you get powerups to control the storms... and you gotta have blue whales too!

As someone who tried the who... move to Alaska and work in the fisheries for a year thing, my advice to someone young who thinks that looks like any kind of fun at all...

Don't...

You underestimate how cold it gets there. So you... work all the time, play cards when you are not working, and everyone smokes crystal meth, and it is horrible, and you risk getting stuck there.

Just don't...
