Having
just seen release earlier in the week, it seems Microsoft is only just now getting around to making sure the demo is online. Major Nelson
posted early this morning that the demo was up and that that it clocked in at almost a gig of memory (965.95 megs). Whether or not the demo's appearance and size will end up making any difference in game sales is doubtful, as the game is yearly and has it's followers. Though some of those followers (like a commenter on Major Nelson's page) aren't altogether happy with the latest iteration. So, if you were on the fence before this, now you've got a chance to give the thing a spin for yourself before laying down that sixty dollars. Queue up that download!

How can this game be sooooo bad?? I bought it yesterday hoping that @k would finally get it right after 3 F-ING years, but NOOOOO!! They screwed this years game up so badly that I may actually go pick up 2K7 again.
Graphic problems : Hit a batter and the pitcher cleats turn to 2 white blocks, runners on base it also happens to. Froze on me 5 times too!! The grpahics load up worse than Mass Effect (which was forgiveable Mass Effect was amazing)
Audio problems too, Morgan and that other D-bag are so off sometimes it sounds like there drinking again!!
I give it a 6.5 out 10. Horrible, 2K should be ashamed of themselves!!!!

this is why exclusivity is bad. with no competition from EA, there's no reason for 2k to push themselves to release an top-line product.
same goes with madden.

oh no - is it really that bad? i loved 2k7 and was gunna DL this after work - is it really as bad as you claim?
is Joba on the Yankees?
evan @ Mar 5th 2008 10:16AM
it's not bad, per se, but there are some minor glitches. they don't affect game play, though.
the new "swing stick" system and "total control" pitching are cool concepts. no more just pushing a button to swing or execute the pitch. with batting, you need to time your step and then time your swing. and with pitching, if you want to throw a perfect curve you've got to execut a hadunken-esque move on the right thumb stick.
fielding is tough, though. i keep hitting buttons to throw to the bases, but it's a right thumbstick thing. just takes some getting used to.
not sure about joba, but once you get the roster update, johan is on the mets. so i'd figure joba would be there.

They need to add a career mode where you create a player and play as them. that was the one thing i was dissapointed that 2k7 had and i really thought they were going to add it in 2k8 but they didnt

This game is a complete waste of your sixty bucks. It's essentially a patched in pitching system and a roster update. I've never seen such bad frame rate issues in a sports game before. It makes Mass Effect's issues look minimal. Don't make the same mistake I did and buy this game. If anything, this game is making me think about getting a PS3.

Blah, where the hell is my Ninja Gaiden 2 and Condemed 2 demo?
dan stabbingworth @ Mar 5th 2008 1:32PM
Even if this was the greatest game ever, Joe Morgan's inclusion is an instant refusal to buy.

MLB 2K8 is a TERRIBLE game - I played two frustrating games and sent it back (via gamefly).
Frame rates are absurdly bad... They have smoother animations on the stop-motion TV show Robot Chicken than this so called "next gen" game. Commentary lines are exactly the same as 2K6, and 2K7... Constant freezing/hiccups between animations and cut-scenes... Not to mention a ton of presentation problems that can only be chalked up to laziness. For instance - the crowd behind home plate all play the exact same animations in sync with one another! WTF? It's 2008, haven't they figured this out yet?
I couldn't even bring myself to fight my way through a few achievements. I'm glad I was smarter this year and only rented it.
Go grab this demo and see exactly what I am talking about...
