In celebration of the fact that the
Best RPGs are on Xbox 360, Xbox.com is holding yet another
Play & Win giveaway where Microsoft points can be won, a
Mass Effect themed 360 can be earned and a trip to this year's Comic-con can be secured. But you'll have to get your DLC download on. To enter this Play & Win, you'll have to
register here or download the Best RPGs gamer picture off of the XBLM. Then, once registered, you'll get one entry for every piece of DLC you download for either
Mass Effect,
Blue Dragon or
Oblivion. And yes, you will earn an entry for downloading
horse armor. This RPG themed Play & Win kicks off tomorrow March 7th and runs through March 11th, so be prepared to download and be prepared to select your favorite blogger when you win the grand prize trip to Comic-con and have to choose someone to bring with.

Um what if you have already downloaded most of the content for these games?
nerrrrrrd @ Mar 6th 2008 1:09PM
yea, where's the 'no purchase necessary' part where I can enter for free? isn't that the law? hehe.
ccc @ Mar 6th 2008 1:12PM
Well I'll definatley be getting Mass Effects content on the 10 so I guess I'm on board.
Tony @ Mar 6th 2008 1:13PM

Jason @ Mar 6th 2008 1:27PM
Well I entered, but I'd rather win a copy of Lost Odyssey than any of those prizes.
Critter3 @ Mar 6th 2008 1:36PM
Surprise, Surprise...If you are Canadian you are not welcome!
VanIslePimp @ Mar 6th 2008 2:18PM
Critter3... no suprise really. What is a suprise is that Mass Effect was made in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Besides, I already own all of the content for those games (except the ones not released yet).
Anticrawl @ Mar 6th 2008 2:25PM
Yeah I'd rather own a second copy of Lost Odyssey. That game is the best RPG I've played since Chrono Cross.
The Mass Effect console would be sweet though.
Mark @ Mar 6th 2008 2:38PM
Limit of 5 entries people, so don't go overboard buying stuff to enter. Or don't buy and enter for free.
Matt @ Mar 6th 2008 6:15PM
best rpg's my ass. they won't even get final fantasy
Leonidas @ Mar 6th 2008 8:35PM
FF can suck my left nut.
Anticrawl @ Mar 6th 2008 10:25PM
AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Final Fantasy. Are you fucking nuts? The dream team left Square a long time ago and only their severly outdated templete remains which Square uses to stamp out shitty sequals. The only RPG that is worth a damn Square Enix still has is Dragon Quest and that's because most of the original creaters are still on board. Now some of the new stuff might be good, but yeah not Final Fantasy.
ZeroCorpse @ Mar 6th 2008 10:49PM
Yeah. Final Fantasy sucks. You don't play it. You WATCH it play itself.
They said "Best RPGs", not "Best anime wankfest JRPGs for tossers who find 'Choose your own adventure' books to be a challenge."

On a lighter note, I find it ironic that they're running this promotion the week E. Gary Gygax died.
Kabapu @ Mar 7th 2008 2:49AM
No offense ZeroCorpse, but .. you're kind of an idiot. There are different types of RPGs and people have different tastes.
And of course, that's all besides the fact that this promotion of theirs is advertising four games (two of which happen to be the type of JRPGs you're complaining about [Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey] and another which isn't even out yet [Fable 2]).
So really, by your definition ... they really only have the best RPG (singular [Mass Effect]).
And like I said, seeing as people have different tastes in story telling and production value, I'll take Final Fantasy, White Knight Story and Valkyrie of the Battlefield over what Microsoft is offering any day.
Mass Effect was fun and semi-unique for the first five hours or so (much of the play style being taken from older games like Fallout). But once you start going to more of the side missions and begin to realize *every* single base throughout the entire universe was designed by the same architect (seriously, the guy must have made a bajillion space-bucks), with a different layout for the random assortment of boxes ... the game got really old, really quick.
I say, to each his own. You like a certain type of game, other people like a different kind. That's all there really is to it. What Microsoft is doing here is trying to win over the RPG crowd before the games I mentioned previously see the light of day.
James @ Mar 7th 2008 3:32PM
Hooray, the 360 has the least shitty assortment of RPGs -- the Wii has none at all, and the PS3 has like 4 of 'em. Be still my beating damn heart.
mikelhend @ Mar 7th 2008 7:50PM
Surprise... you HAVE to be a "Xbox Live Gold member in good standing" -- Silvers need not apply. I agree with nerrrrd: where's the 'no purchase necessary' part?!?
