haha not even a free pack of 3 songs is enough to convince me to put away rock band and get out guitar hero. especially a song pack from a band i have never heard of (dropkick murphys)....
Tony @ Mar 6th 2008 3:07PM
The Dropkick Murpheys are not bad. It's worth downloading in case they decide to remove it or charge for it later...
SigEp418 @ Mar 6th 2008 3:09PM
Sweet. They are a great band. You should broaden your musical views. It's good $#!t, thats for sure!
cranium @ Mar 6th 2008 3:10PM
rock band has better/more dlc than guitar hero III. Most can agree on that. but you gotta love activision for releasing so much free stuff.
Michael Remis @ Mar 6th 2008 3:24PM
They have got to start giving the option to purchase single songs. F this song pack bs
mrhammerstein @ Mar 6th 2008 3:26PM
free is always best and for the most part, i've found rock band's dlc boring (gh3 might be worse). and they're master tracks.
gh3 might not be your favorite, but i bet most of you use their guitars over the piece of crap rock band gives you. i sold that almost immediately to some sucker.

free Dropkick Murphys for St. Patties day....drinking and playing guitar hero doesn't really mix but I'm going to do it anyway
Adam @ Mar 6th 2008 3:37PM
"playing guitar hero doesn't really mix but I'm going to do it anyway"
LOL. Yeah, cause Slash played guitar sober every show.
Tony @ Mar 6th 2008 3:42PM
I like the Rock Band guitar a lot more, personally.
Clayton @ Mar 6th 2008 4:02PM
I would much rather have had "I'm Shipping Up to Boston" in that Dropkick Murphys pack. That song kicks after it being used alot in the move 'The Departed'.
Brave @ Mar 6th 2008 5:44PM
That's Not Metal.
David @ Mar 6th 2008 4:11PM
GODDAMN! Dropkick Murphys are the fucking shit! This just smacked all the Rock Band DLC in the face in one single blow. Almost makes me wish I had bought Guitar Hero III instead of Rock Band...
Guy4 @ Mar 6th 2008 4:18PM
David, I used to think the same way you did. Since I listen to alternative, however enjoy the Guitar Hero games that have some older stuff. But my god...playing alternative songs on games like Guitar Hero sucks balls. It's so boring strumming out the same 3 note chords repetitively. I was really looking forward to GH3 because of songs from Senses Fail, Killswitch Engage, The Sleeping, etc.....but what a letdown they are to ACTUALLY PLAY them.
Hey Apples @ Mar 6th 2008 4:42PM
This type of annoucement is just noise as long as Rock Band dominates the DLC space.

That is a really sweet song, but the problem is there is no good guitar part, the tune is being played by an accordian.
toonces @ Mar 6th 2008 5:14PM
I want more Deftones!
Jeramy @ Mar 6th 2008 5:55PM
@ mrhammerstein
i would play with the rock band strat over any red octane guitar any day of the week. hell, i already have both les paul and xplorer guitars and i still plan on buying a rock band strat this summer.
that being said, where the hell did the reply button go off to?
burgerbat @ Mar 6th 2008 6:53PM
Yawn. Does Activision even care anymore? Thrice? Avenged Sevenfold? Fucking Deftones? HA. Back to Rock Band, the ONLY music game worth playing. Sugar magnolia, blossoms bloomin'....
BluesmanTLU @ Mar 6th 2008 8:31PM
The Dropkicks are awesome. I honestly don't recall any of these three songs though...
It'll be enough to get me away from Rock Band to GHIII for a good hour or so, though. Rock band needs to give out some occasional free stuff.
Boff @ Mar 7th 2008 6:41AM
Free = good
LiquidPlague @ Mar 7th 2008 8:30AM
The Murphys pack is awesome, but labelling any of the bands in the other pack Metal in any way reeks of failure.
baby sea tuna @ Mar 7th 2008 9:41AM
Yes! These bands are awesome!
Oh wait, no, they're not.
Decker @ Mar 7th 2008 10:24AM
How could they not put Flogging Molly in there for St. Pats? This is a slap in the face to any Irishman.
NukeAssault @ Mar 7th 2008 1:36PM
Done mind me... pass got messed up fixing. Just a test
Soup @ Mar 7th 2008 4:44PM
Yeah, uhm, as much as i like rock band more than i do GH3... GH3 is now the better game. why you may ask?
A FUCKING DEFTONES TRACK. jesus christ it took long enough. now i just need a deftones track pack with like be quiet and drive, my own summer, the entire white pony cd... actually fuck it, every deftones song.
OTAM @ Mar 7th 2008 6:01PM
This is such a dilemma. Rock Band has more content, but Guitar Hero has more content I actually want like No Doubt and Thrice. Rock Band needs some more modern songs and get over their classic rock/70's kick. Coheed and Cambria,Oasis,The Killers, and Metallica are bands I like on Rock Band. I'm so over the constant stream of stuff like Mountain,Grateful Dead, and Rolling Stones. I'm not saying these are bad bands, but they are way past their time.
