EDGE magazine's 16-page GTAIV feature scanned
In the latest issue of EDGE Magazine Sam Houser sat down and discussed all things Grand Theft Auto, from 2D to Part IV. While the article is light on new details for the upcoming April 29 release of GTAIV, Rockstar president Sam Houser discusses everything from being the industry scapegoat to the occasional trials and tribulations of working with Ray Liotta. The eager community at GTAForums couldn't wait for everyone to get their hands on an issue of EDGE and have released scans of all 16-pages online. The article proves very informative and spans the entire history of Grand Theft Auto. One obvious topic was the Hot Coffee scandal, but interestingly enough Houser describes that his real fear with the infamous situation wasn't a legal issue at all. "One of my fears when the Hot Coffee thing happened," Houser explains, "it was going to take this really beautiful piece of work and it was going to be known for something else."
Some details Houser did share regarding GTAIV included the importance of comedy clubs, which have been incorporated in a manner that is "enough to make your head spin." Also, along with cars aging over time with dirt and dulling rusted paint, bullets will leave permanent visible damage to your ride.
When discussing multiplayer, Houser wasn't able to go into detail but did mention previously rumored features, including meeting friends within Liberty City via Xbox Live or PSN with no other goal other than to use it as a meeting place. "I'll meet you in a car and we'll hang and just drive and listen to music, chilling in the car, with your 3D model sat next to me," Houser concluded.
Grand Theft Auto IV continues to top our most wanted list and is an immediate must-own for gamers (over 17 of course!) when it hits stores on April 29.

I am so pumped for this game!
BobbyBob @ Mar 12th 2008 9:11PM
Quick! Everyone download it before it gets taken down!
In all seriousness, I've never understood why people do this. Yeah it's great in theory, but the scans will always wind up being taken down within three or four hours of their going up. It just seems kind of pointless.

I have no interest in this game at all but I figured I'd say there is is a huge section in the recent EGM for the new GTA game. Apparently I won some contest and got a years worth of issues from that magazine.
Xav de Matos @ Mar 12th 2008 9:14PM
Agreed. I don't like it myself and we would never host those images at X3F. However, the information is out there and we report on what's new to keep everyone informed about their favorite franchises.
JBurton90 @ Mar 12th 2008 9:22PM
Scans are illegal. Nice job posting them.
Xav de Matos @ Mar 12th 2008 9:23PM
LAWL. We didn't post them.
Comment epic fail.

You might as well. We arent going to supply you with the gun, but heres where it is....
Xav de Matos @ Mar 12th 2008 9:40PM
"You might as well."
Meaning we didn't. We're reporting the news is all sir.
richieopera @ Mar 12th 2008 9:44PM
You lot are idiots.
They're reporting news. If you don't want to participate in illegal activity then don't. you can't pretend it doesn't exist or that you're not tempted by the joy it can offer, often with zero consequences.
Basically, throw your pc in the bin.
richieopera @ Mar 12th 2008 9:45PM
I swear my name ain't Richie O. hahaha
Xav de Matos @ Mar 12th 2008 9:48PM
If reporting scans was such an issue I wonder why no one mentioned when we did it earlier with the new SF Character leaks, Tales of Vesperia or basically anything out of Japan and that goes for pretty much any site that does it.
I'm not condoning anything, if I did I would post the link with no text... However, I read through the article purging info readers might want to know so they wouldn't have to look for the scans.
Sorry if you are offended. Thank you for your feedback.
EMOruffino @ Mar 12th 2008 10:16PM
this same article was also in EGM.... jeez...
Mike Jenkins @ Mar 12th 2008 10:16PM
Sounds identical to the EGM article which is already out. Thanks Joystiq!
Xav de Matos @ Mar 12th 2008 10:21PM
While both articles had access to Houser and GTAIV the articles are actually different when you read them.
OBM @ Mar 12th 2008 11:14PM
It's good all X3F readers are such law abiding citizens...hush, back to limewire children.

I wouldn't put too much faith in the words of Houser. Although I'm sure that this time around they'll accomplish things never thought of before, Houser was the one who told us that cars would age over time in San Andreas, which they didn't. He also told us that we could take our dirty rides to the car wash to get cleaned, which didn't exist either. Then there was the whole "you can drive the trolly car" thing...which also didn't happen.
GTAIV is gonna rock the casbah, but I seriously doubt that it's gonna brush my teeth for me.
Matt @ Mar 13th 2008 12:10AM
Well, hopefully the gameplay will be next gen, 'cause the graphics sure ain't.

i wish rockstar pr would go into hiding until a week or so before launch, Im overhyped and cranky.
Boff @ Mar 13th 2008 7:51AM
Good read.
Houser's sheer enthusiasm has rubbed off on me I'm afraid and now I'm all excited like an only child on it's birthday.
My voice is getting high pitched too!
Kop Cat @ Mar 13th 2008 9:27AM
Wow was I really only ten when I played GTA 3. Seems only like yesterday.
Neuromancer @ Mar 13th 2008 11:05AM
Wow, ESRB ratings really do work... ;)
I was a substite teacher back in 2002, some of my third graders were talking about their parents letting them play GTA3... Unbelievable!
