Lost Planet: Colonies, $29.99, More Details
When we discovered that the long-rumored Lost Planet: Colonies would be an expansion-of-sorts to the first game, we weren't exactly thrilled, and exclaimed that it better hit at the right price. Well, we had nothing to worry about, as 1up is reporting that when the game hits in the US it'll be at the price point of $29.99. For the thirty dollars, you'll get even more than we had originally listed, and the scope of the content goes far beyond that of a game such as Ninja Gaiden Black. The new character models include two new females, two new robots, and five other characters. The new infantry guns are Hand Gun, a Revolver, a Flame Launcher, and Hand Cannon, with the new Mech weapons being the Pile Bunker, a VS Rifle, a Rocket Pod and a Laser Lance. There are four new maps are Crossfire City, Area 921, Lost Arena, and a zero-gravity map, Assault Space. As well as all that, there are a half dozen new multiplayer modes includeing Akrid Hunter, VS Annihalator, CounterGrab, Point Snatcher, Akrid Egg Battle, and Egg Bandit. That's a lot. Plus, there's more that we didn't get to. With all this new content and an even lower price point than we suggested, you can be certain we'll be picking this one up.

I actually haven't had the chance to buy Lost Planet, so maybe this'll work out.
ZEBRA NINER @ Mar 12th 2008 6:37PM
Wow. Lets get all games down to this price!

im confused: is this like a game of the year addition? or is it more like an expansion pack...if so do you need Lost Planet to play it? what about multiplayer?
Terrence Stasse @ Mar 12th 2008 6:51PM
It has everything from the original release and more.

awesome. i never picked up Lost Planet. It came out the same time a bought my 360 and it was a choice between this and Gears of War. Gears won. But i'll probably pick this up, as long as the multiplayer gets a decent following.
NukeAssault @ Mar 12th 2008 6:59PM
Hmm might get it... neat.

I like that price! $30 is a good one! I may have to check this out!

Confusing..new weapons? Is this game going to allow play with the old version of lost planet? Are those people going to get to play together? And if so are they having access to these new weapons as well? o.0
Seems like it might create unfair advantages.

I'd buy it if they fix the animation just so I could beat the campaign on hard mode. This game is so close to greatness but the "wow that was close, I better cover my head" the "Ouch, that hurt, I need to flop in the snow" and the "wow the, the ground is shaking, I better stumble" character animations make it almost unplayable on the end levels on hard. You get hammered by enemies (especially bosses) whom seem to know exactly when the animation is going to end. Nothing like constantly yanking control away from the player repetitively to make a great game stumble to its knees. Still a memorable campaign on normal.
PS With the Halo's, CoD 4, GoW - is anyone actually playing Lost Planet multiplayer? I tried it a couple times; long waits and not as fun as any listed above. Still, this might bring new life to the multiplayer mode.

Wow, I can't wait! I played the crap out of if the first time, especially mutliplayer... hopefully this will bring players back in force :)
@EdgeOne, people stoped playing lost planet multiplayer by and large at least, a few months after the game came out. During those first few months though, online play was packed, glorious, and much fun. There were a decent number of players (myself included) who were playing this online instead of GoW, though I'm sure the GoW playing community was larger overall... it still speaks to the quality of the game.
And btw, master the zip-line and the shoulder button quarter-turns for online play, trust me.

Tremendous price, esp. since I never played LP:EC.
joemoemino @ Mar 12th 2008 8:24PM
I have been thinking about it on and off but now it looks like I will be picking this up when it comes out.

Dangit... I *just* bought Lost Planet about 2 weeks ago when Circuit City was having it on sale for $19.99....
flashpoint zero @ Mar 12th 2008 11:39PM
So, do we get another 1000 achieve points?
Jonah Falcon @ Mar 13th 2008 2:17AM
Yes. It's basically a separate product. Also, the PC version has Achievements that go towards your Gamerscore, too hehe
Boff @ Mar 13th 2008 8:12AM
Awww I'm going to have to get this now!
Thought the campaign in the first one was lots of fun! And now we get new weapons, new mechs and new maps!
I hope Wayne is still in this one! Ha ha!! "Wayne". A heroes name if I ever saw it!!!
Gloqwi @ Mar 13th 2008 7:36PM
I didn't find the campaign to be overly fun, but I did LOVE the multiplayer. If anything adds to teh multiplayerz, then I'll buy it.
Liopluerodon @ Mar 13th 2008 11:23AM
They better release a $40 version with a case as cool, if not cooler, than the SE of EC.
Neuromancer @ Mar 13th 2008 11:26AM
I was really disappointed by Lost Planet, I'm definately skipping this one. Wayne was a great character name though. ;)
