GTAIV multiplayer to include 15 different modes and character customization

PSM Spain has the inside scoop on Grand Theft Auto IV's multiplayer and color us turquoise, we're impressed already! According to the PSM Spain article, multiplayer will support sixteen players and consist of fifteen different multiplayer modes including traditional death match variants as well as a racing, cops and robbers and bomb based gametypes. We're also told that all this multiplayer mayhem will be played inside the same "map" as the single player campaign. Equally exciting is the fact that multiplayer characters will be fully customizable, including a player's race, sex, hair style and clothing. Check out the complete list of all fifteen multiplayer game modes posted after the break and ponder what exactly "Deal Breaker" mode entails. Oh and ... w00t! W00t!

Hmmm, one thing noticeably absent is online coop a la the way that Crackdown did it. This will be in the game, right? That's a biiiiiigggggg deal.

Coop would be nice but cops and crooks sounds decent. Free roam will be fun too with a friend. Good job Rockstar!

Multiplayer GTA, interesting, I'm generally not that concerned by multiplayer features, and to be honest this hardly sweetens the deal for me, but then I pre-ordered GTA IV almost a year ago, so I hardly need more incentives, but this could be fun, let's hope it works well.

No surprise to me. I've been playing GTA multiplayer on the PSP and if they could do 8 people on one island on a psp then of course they'd be able to do much more on the 360/PS3...

i do not care nore do i want co-op..if just cops and robbers, deathmatch(and team) and most of all FREEROAM is on there with ALL 16 people...DEAR GOD. move over halo 3!(and look at my NAME. HAH!)

Looking forward to this, but did anyone play the acclaimed multiplayer of Kane & Lynch? Too early until release to put on the rose colored 'anything GTA is great' glasses.

Game is a purchase though because with a name with GTA in the title, it has to be good.

It'll be good with friends but er randoms? The game modes are going to get abused by so many cheap bullshit tactics it'll be annoying over fun IMO.

Like the rocket racers playlist in Halo, the idea is great and it IS a lot of fun when you play it properly but you get dicks that decide they'd rather walk about trying to murder you, pathetic, stupid, but it happens.

Yes this sounds awesome... and to those with CO-OP comments I agree with you. I would definitely like some CO-OP in GTA4... so if you read the joystiq article about the same info...
