Video: Say hello to Call of Duty 4's Chinatown
As most of you know, team Infinity Ward is jumping head first into the DLC pool by bringingtfour new multiplayer maps to the Call of Duty 4 community sometime this Spring. One of the four new CoD4 maps being a remake of the uber popular CoD2 map Carentan, now prettified, set in Chinatown and is called ... Chinatown. Fitting. And Mr. fourzerotwo himself (with the help of Geoff Keeley) has just given us our first glimpse of all the Chinatown action with the release of a teaser video which we've embedded above. Watch, drool, look at the pretty lights and wait patiently for tomorrow. Fourzerotwo promises that new Call of Duty 4 DLC details will hit the news wire and it'll make a gigantic news KABLAAM!
[Thanks, CB]

When I was addicted to CoD4 I was all set and ready to buy and play these maps. But now since the game has gotten old and lost steam I hardly doubt I'll buy these maps.
AfroCelt @ Mar 16th 2008 12:13PM
I loved that map in 2.....hope this hits sometime this month
Messs17 @ Mar 16th 2008 12:20PM
There will actually be four maps in the pack according to Gamespot's preview and your news story.

If there free then yay. If they think about charging a penny for them then bugger off.

I believe the story says 4, I could be wrong because I learned to read years and years ago, but I think four = 4? no?

Im going to have to pass on this map pack. I got bored of COD4 a very long time ago. I got it for christmas and got only about a month of enjoyment out of it. Im just going to get Legendary map pack for Halo 3 and buy R6V2 and ill be set untill Gears 2.
Tib02 @ Mar 16th 2008 1:32PM
Hopefully its not the $10 map pack like MS pulled for Halo 3's DLC. $5 is fine, $10 not so much

Pretty much exactly the same here, after hitting the 55 the game just had nothing left for me, and the small, occasionally nuances began to get at me and getting on my nerves too much for me to go on, so I sold it for £30 =)
PS - How about a bit more R6V2 coverage? I don't think I've seen much, if any, on x360f yet...

Just remember, there is no sniping in Carentan!

Whomever is bored of COD4 already, either plays way too many video games, or is a Galo fanboi just dissin cause their game isn't the shiznit n3more. From what a couple of buddies told me too, R6V2 ain't all it's cracked up to be. And lets be honest, if COD4 had the xtra little features like forge and theater that Galo's got, there wouldn't even be a dispute here.
PS Who the hell thinks that DLC should be free? You're a freaking moron. This stuff costs money to produce, and that cost has to get passed along. Sure, free would be nice, but so would world peace. Unfortunately, the world doesn't work that way. GTFU
BluesmanTLU @ Mar 16th 2008 4:00PM
Yeah, ten bucks is lunch money. Bring a sandwich to work one day and download the pack instead. Problem solved.

Getting a little defensive about Cod loosing steam mojo?
Who Flang Poo @ Mar 16th 2008 5:39PM
I was just gonna say the same thing.
Cal @ Mar 16th 2008 6:04PM
@ Mojo
What makes you think people have to either still like CoD or like Haloverated?
I only played Haloverated for a week and got bored, then when CoD4 came out I traded it in and paid the difference.
It's natural for people to get sick of a game after time, the two exceptions to this rule, personally, are Gears of War and FIFA...

I honestly find it hard to take you seriously but I've looked over your previous posts and it appears you aren't acting.
Christ, i hope you realize you're everything that's wrong with Live. And yes, maps should be free. I find it irritating enough having to pay for Live and before anyone starts about costs PC users get their Live service for FREE and only have to pay if they want to play with 360 members.
How about you give me that option as well microsoft, i don't want to play with PC users anyway so give me my Live for free.
Maps certainly shouldn't be at cost, if developers don't want to support their game and can't spare the man power, don't bloody release maps. Let users submit their own content. As i said Mr vvvMOJOvvv, you're what's wrong with Live. You add to the problem and to top it off, you're an idiot.
vvvMOJOvvv @ Mar 16th 2008 6:41PM
Actually I had no idea COD4 was losing steam. Can you cite a reference for that? And like most other COD4 fans, I do get a little defensive when someone comes on here saying they're bored of this game and are going back to Halo. Fine, stick to the Halo topics. We'd rather not hear what you have to say about this game. THAT game got very old, very fast for me. Not to mention, far more people are playing COD4 now, so apparently you're in the minority. After Halo 3's "Heroic" map pack, I wouldn't spend another penny on DLC for that game. Those are easily some of the worst maps in any game(Rat's Nest is okay). I am also a little defensive about DLC, because most people seem to think that they have a right to get this for free. They should consider it a wonderful gift when it's free, rather than complain when it costs. This is an addon to a product you already purchased. Do you get spinners for free on your car after the fact? Give your head a shake.

The feeling is reciprocated. At least we're on the same page about that.

rainbow six vegas 2 has nothing on cod4, it will continue to be number 1 on xbox live until cod6 comes out.

To those complaining about having to pay for maps or the online service compared to the PC:
You do in fact pay for you online experience for the PC. As you have to pay for your internet connection into the house. Sure it is not an added expense as Live is, but you are paying to play. Not directly for the game but you are. I also admit that you are getting more out of just the internet connection as well (access to all the internet) but... in the end, its still being paid for.
As for free maps on PC. I would guess that these maps released by Infinity Ward, the PC users will have to pay for. For them to produce maps they have to continue to pay them to work on the DLC. So the cost gets passed down the line to the consumer. Understandable to me. PC players do get free maps, through the mod community. Something that unfortunately XBL is missing completely. Not just for the free maps, but the creativity that mod communities put out, but this is XBL and not a PC.
Now for the actual maps. I can't wait! COD4 is great, and a long lasting game of fun for me. Maybe not for everyone, but for me it is. I played COD2 for a long ass time and I loved this map in COD2. To have it remade into Chinatown for COD4 is awesomeness. As for paying for them.. "meh". $10 is lunch money like Blue said in a previous post. Nothing to get all worked up about.
Carlitos Colon @ Mar 16th 2008 11:04PM
Anybody who thinks Live should be free is a fucking idiot. PSN is free. Go play that, use the PSN store interface and then come back and compare it to the polish Live offers. Do you really want a service as shitty as PSN just because it's free? Get the fuck outta here.
potato @ Mar 17th 2008 1:22AM
Good things cost money. I have no problem paying for live - between Halo 3, COD4, and all these other games, I have no trouble getting my $5's worth each month.
Heck, that's like a couple cups of coffee.
And yes, PC users DO pay for multiplayer, indirectly. Even an awesome game like TF2 has a horrible matchmaking experience - servers are either empty or full to stuffing, reserved slots make it hard to tell which servers are FULL or just ALMOST full. You have to put up with lame advertising when you get into the game (hey, servers aren't free)... The list goes on.
Not to mention the matchmaking on Live is miles beyond anything you have on the PC. If you play any PC multiplayer game, there's always the few players owning every single other player, and the poor schmuck who has a K/D ratio of 0.00001 who just isn't having any fun. In Halo 3 at least I get paired up with people who are REASONABLY close to my skill level.
And to all the people who keep screaming about free maps - get over it. Maps cost money to make. Nothing on the original game box ever promised free maps. Now, if they sell it for $10 I'm not buying it, and IW will screw themselves by having made a bunch of maps nobody will play (since nobody has 'em)... I'm hoping for $5, and I'd gladly pay it for 4 more maps.
Boff @ Mar 17th 2008 5:56AM
I'll be downloading the map pack, I'm still loving COD at the mo. And unless the online mulitplayer in R6V2 is something special I can see me going back to COD for my multiplayer fix.
Leobebes @ Mar 17th 2008 3:26PM
I liked Rainbow Six Vegas when it first came out because it was the best tactical shooter on the 360 at the time, the Ghost Recon games felt a little too restrictive in its handling. But Halo 3, Gears of War, and Call of Duty 4 with its COD 2 engine and polished graphics brought it down to fifth on my list.
Here is the problem with Rainbow Six, it has a weird glossy fog to its graphics. They aren't sharp enough compared to other shooters, so seeing enemies in the distance becomes quite cumbersome. I have perfect 20/20 vision but there is something to the compression they use in that game that just doesn't feel right, it's just not sharp. Anyone here ever feel the same way about it? I hope RSV2 gets rid of that "look".
Dux0r @ Mar 17th 2008 3:50PM
Looking forward to these, hopefuly they wont cost stupid amounts of points.
