Shipping this week: roll them bones edition

It's sort of a lonely week for new releases. It's not that we aren't seeing anything worthwhile, though. Nope, this week we have the much awaited sequel to Rainbow Six Vegas, sagely titled Rainbow Six Vegas 2 to in order to nullify any confusion. Remember, this is the last time you'll be getting your 6 on in Vegas, so get it while the gettin's good (alternately, you could wait until it goes down in price and get it while the gettin's better). Also releasing this week is the latest curiosity from Sega, Sega Superstars Tennis. Alas, it seems Sega has more trouble wedging its beloved characters into the sports genre than Nintendo does, as the game has thus far received only fair to middling reviews.

Tomorrow cannot come soon enough. I wish I lived in an area that had a store open at midnight but have to wait until 10am instead. Of well at least I will be rested and ready to hunt some terrorists.

*Sigh* Whats up with the spam these past few days? ^
Oh and I will TOTALLY be picking up Sega Sonic Superstar Tennis or whatever it is! Better go get pre-order in!
On a more serious note... I think i'll just pick up R6V2! Oh it looks exciting!
Tony @ Mar 17th 2008 2:01PM
Sucky, I had vaguely high hopes for Superstar Tennis... SEGA managed good things with Virtua Tennis and any system could use a game that recalls Mario Tennis.
Guess I'll skip it.
Urza @ Mar 17th 2008 2:01PM
It ships tomorrow, I doubt it'll be in stores tomorrow.
thisguyrighthere @ Mar 17th 2008 2:04PM
I didn't finish Condemned 1 fast enough to be able to get through Condemned 2 before Vegas 2 so I guess I'm going to have to skip Condemned 2 and just keep myself busy until I can grab Vegas 2.
If they really did combine Vegas with COD4 this will be the best damn thing.

"If they really did combine Vegas with COD4 this will be the best damn thing."
No it wouldn't, they share very little in common aside from being FPSs where you generally take only a few shots to kill.
R6V2 is far more tactical and encourages team play, CoD4, unless you are with people you play with often, is more of an 'every man for himself' type game where you run around collecting kills, sort of the middle-ground between tactical teamplay (vegas) and casual run, jump and shoot whilst wearing bright colours (haloverated).
thisguyrighthere @ Mar 17th 2008 2:23PM
@Cal
Vegas is already watered down tactical. I'd like to see a good SWAT come to the Xbox.
What I was talking about was the ability to sprint and the method by which experience is gained certain points for certain accomplishments.
I wish Vegas was as tactical as it (and some players) claims it to be but the truth is that it isn't. And adding sprinting and achievement based experience leveling won't make it less tactical or turn it into a "let's all run around in circles holding the R trigger like a bunch of retards" deathmatch fest either so relax.

@deck,
just use that handy "-" (minus) button and his adverspam will be whited out soon enough
looking forward to renting R6V2 tomorrow at blockbuster and keeping it for 44 days..MUHAHAHA!
Vcize @ Mar 17th 2008 2:49PM
Why do people always call CoD4 run and gun? Anytime I go into a CoD4 game it's 13 people camping in one of the 50 hard-to-see super-camping zones that the devs decided would be useful in there.
It's like counterstrike, except camping is easier and you're not booted from the game for doing it.

If you have a Fry's Electronics close by, they will have it for $39.99 on the 20th

@vcize
Nope...it is a run and gun! I do it all the time and I see everyone else doing it!
@thisguyrightthere
R6V does give you exp, but not as fast. In COD4 you can get to 55 within a week...kinda bad if you ask me.
TORO @ Mar 17th 2008 4:35PM
I was hesitant about RB6V, but for that $39.99 tag it's hard to pass up. Hmm...what to do??? There's always the new maps for COD4, I'll just buy that ;)
And GTA4 next month w00t!
Urza @ Mar 17th 2008 4:37PM
Vcize..
Stop playing Hardcore Death Match you'll realize it's all run and gun. Go a head, sit in a corner in Domination or Search & Destroy and see how long it takes you to lose playing like that.
calvin @ Mar 17th 2008 4:58PM
yes.... here it comes..... going to be one of the best this year!

Yeah I agree with you about Rainbox 6, its very watered down (especially the single player game). A SWAT game would be great- in fact I'm surprised and disappointed Sierra isn't working on one for us.
Right now I'd say the most tactical game out there is GRAW and GRAW2, multiplayer with no respawns and no drones. Hardly anyone plays it that way though, they'd rather just run around and respawn. At that point I think you may as well be playing Halo.
I really hope Operation Flashpoint ends up being good, I never played the others but I heard they were pretty hardcore.
Boff @ Mar 18th 2008 6:45AM
I'll be picking this up, looking forward to some co-op killing in Vegas!
@Vcize: As others have said, have you thought of changing the gametype? Team Tactical maybe?
Player1 @ Mar 18th 2008 10:12AM
I'm quite pissed that the co-op in Vegas has been taken down to 2 player when it was 4 player in the first one. Who downgrades sequels like that? Oh well, I just got my third RRoD so I'm going to have to wait a couple weeks to get it anyways.
mattclarkie @ Mar 18th 2008 11:17AM
Was the LE US exclusive or shop exclusive, as I couldn't get it in the UK and had to settle for Steelbox.
xenocidic @ Mar 18th 2008 1:11PM
got it =)
