Call of Duty 4 GOTY edition releasing in April

Yesterday, Activision announced that they'll be releasing a Call of Duty 4 Game of the Year edition which will feature updated box art as well as an Xbox Live redemption token to download this Spring's upcoming multiplayer map DLC for free. A redemption token worth 800 Microsoft points. Acti didn't mention a firm release date for this special GOTY edition or if it'll be released on any other gaming platforms. And we hope it doesn't. We're greedy fanboys who want everything for ourselves.

They really need to add something more to this value proposition.

So I should trade my Limited Edition copy into GameStop for $4 and THEN go buy the new verion for some *NeW* Art and a code right??
Deck @ Mar 18th 2008 11:50AM
So that means the DLC is going to be 800 points huh?

any idea on the price of the GOTY edition? or if the regular edition is going to drop on price?
Iliad Force @ Mar 18th 2008 12:08PM
Why aren't early adopters--the ones who made COD4 a best-selling game and helped make it the number-one game on Xbox Live--being rewarded with free maps? Bad PR move, Activision.
JakubK666 @ Mar 18th 2008 12:09PM
This game deserves a GOTY!?
joey @ Mar 18th 2008 12:10PM
Lucky me, I bought my copy for $ 50.
Hey, I know where the $ 10 saving is gonna go now.
WTFoxtrot @ Mar 18th 2008 12:14PM
I agree with Iliad Force on this one. Up until now I wouldn't have thought twice about buying the new maps but now that they're giving them away for free to those who HAVEN'T played the game yet? Ridiculous.

Up until this weekend i was going to purchase the new maps when they arrive, but for some reason I this game lost its fun factor. I think those 800 points will be better used elsewhere for now.
Adam @ Mar 18th 2008 12:34PM
Im sick of this game anyway.Theres so much better out there.Frontlines gets all my attention now.
ZEBRA NINER @ Mar 18th 2008 12:44PM
Well, It was just for those people who were on the fence about the game.
Oh, and if you thought that the DLC was going to be less than 10 bucks, you are crazy! That's the new standard for map packs now, started by GOW maps.
SugarDaddy @ Mar 18th 2008 1:04PM
800 pts for 4 freakin maps?! Boo.
George Arauz @ Mar 18th 2008 3:58PM
Who the hell DOESNT have this game already? i mean come on
webster1990 @ Mar 18th 2008 1:08PM
@ Iliad Force
don't feel upset, this is so that more people buy the game, they aren't "rewarding" any body.
Alex R @ Mar 18th 2008 1:17PM
Seriously, it was OK, but RS: Vegas is stil MUCH better online and for story mode. Sorry to break it to you.
SoxFan13 @ Mar 18th 2008 1:50PM
Is this game going to cost $60? If so, why wouldn't I get the regular edition now for $40 (which you can find at some stores on sale) and pay $10 for the DLC?
Extra artwork?
JohnHeist @ Mar 18th 2008 6:00PM
800 points?
Probably no care.
Boff @ Mar 19th 2008 6:29AM
Yeah there can't be THAT many who don't already own it!
Hardeep @ Apr 5th 2008 12:38PM
