One handed 360 controller redux
That crazy Ben Heckendorn is at it again. No he's not shoving an Xbox 360 into an even tinier laptop (360book Air, anyone?), but instead making some refinements to his one-handed controller. The new controller is much smaller, and also a little bit easier on the eyes than his previous model. With the right stick on the top, and face buttons, triggers, and bumpers on the bottom, it's got everything you need for some one handed fragging. The right stick, in case you're wondering, is meant to be placed on a leg or available surface, thus manipulating the stick by moving the controller itself. Pretty ingenious if you ask us. Don't go crazy trying to procure one for yourself though, as it wasn't intended for mass consumption. Ben's other one handed controller, called the Access, on the other hand, is soon to be made available to the masses.

Why in the world would anyone, other than maybe someone missing an arm or something, want a one handed controller?
Yuccadude @ Mar 18th 2008 4:47PM
Why would anyone in the world want to play DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball one-handed?
SadisticHam @ Mar 18th 2008 4:47PM
That is pretty cool. Pointless, but cool.
Rufus @ Mar 18th 2008 5:32PM
A good 70% of the nation - nay, world - is right handed. If you play that thing in said hand, what on Earth can you do with your left? He needs to make it left handed, leaving the right free...
...but I have *no* clue why.

This is for you boys to use when playing DOA Volleyball...
robert @ Mar 18th 2008 5:46PM
Sircolby45, Ben gets orders for this kind of thing all the time, from people who've lost hands, or born without them. Gets a lot of inquiries from Gulf War II Vets as well

I saw this guy on AOTS and he is the epitome of the "mad scientiest"
in other news,

The more important part of this controller is that he replaced the d-pad with one that is actually functional.
horngreen @ Mar 18th 2008 6:12PM
Maybe you IDIOTS should look into how many of Americas young men are coming home from iraq missing limbs. I have a better solution that a one handed controller just end this pointless war.
NATO_Duke @ Mar 18th 2008 6:22PM
horngreen - maybe you should point your political rants elsewehere if you have a problem with the war. Last time I checked it wasn't the XBox or the guy who made a one handed controller for an injured vet who caused the damn war.
Maybe the idiot is you today?
kyle @ Mar 18th 2008 7:32PM
i totally would want one of those so i can play with one hand and use the other for computer use or eating food, and not sacrificing half the controller 2 do so
B Tizo @ Mar 18th 2008 7:47PM
I love what Ben Heck does, but does anyone else think that 8 buttons for 4 fingers is too many? I think, at least to me, it would make more sense to keep the right side of the controller the same, thumbstick and 4 buttons, and then have the triggers and bumpers controlled by the other fingers. But that's just me..... Marvelous though that he can do anything with a console.... I REALLY want one of those laptops...
emirabal @ Mar 18th 2008 8:06PM
This guy started this to help out some vets who were missing limbs and here you go guys knocking it, im with ending the war than sending people away for no reason, but i digress.
Kepp it up Ben Heck
Deck @ Mar 18th 2008 8:34PM
That is... so odd. I mean, I don't understand why anyone would ever want to use that.
Can anyway enlighten me?
Wolfster @ Mar 18th 2008 9:04PM
@deck.....
do you not read the previous posts?
eugene @ Mar 18th 2008 9:50PM
Why is it so hard to think that maybe people with only one hand would want to play video games?
Deck @ Mar 18th 2008 10:13PM
@Wolfster One handed for DOA Beach Volleyball? Yea I read it. Not exactly what I assume he had in mind when creating it though :-p
(Then again, who knows!)
Sircolby45 @ Mar 18th 2008 10:45PM
I am not knocking him at all. As I stated in my post I was simply asking why anyone "that is not missing an arm or something" would want one of those. I wasn't trying to bash him for making it at all.
hellvector @ Mar 18th 2008 11:10PM
I personally would, like stated above, rather have the right side of the controller about the same as far as buttons go, with a stick for my pointer finger, and then bumpers and triggers on the under side. maybe the d pad down by the bumpers.
LoyalistRevolt @ Mar 19th 2008 1:11AM
I go to his site all the time I had no Idea that he was working on this!
Boff @ Mar 19th 2008 5:54AM
ANOTHER brilliant piece of work! Well done Ben Heck keep it up!!
