Grand Theft Auto IV pre-orders are teh hawtness right now in the retail channel as big box retailers are fighting tooth and nail to lure you into their stores to slap down your pre-order cash. And the UK retailer battle has been kicked up a notch with
HMV announcing that they'll give customers 1000 Microsoft points with any
GTAIV pre-order. For those of you keeping track, that's double the Microsoft points over rival
GAME's pre-order offer. HMV will also be throwing in vouchers worth an additional £130 off of their other products. We just pray that this retailer fueled
GTAIV pre-order battle wages on with hopes that we'll see free cars or condos being given out with pre-orders.

Subtle difference is I'll get GTA4 on launch day with GAME, I trust them with my business for a game I want badly.
I wouldn't trust HMV with an empty can of coke.
Ample Salty @ Mar 19th 2008 4:40PM
It's getting tiresome switching my pre-order around all the time.
II Heretic II @ Mar 19th 2008 5:03PM
I pre-ordered mine on Gamestop's site, any word on the free gamer pics that you guys announced awhile back?
SadisticHam @ Mar 19th 2008 5:08PM

diamondxp @ Mar 19th 2008 5:20PM

Adam @ Mar 19th 2008 5:28PM
Congratulations you officially have hmv.Tho there is no cure there is hope and millions upon millions of dollars funding it.Yet there is still no cure.
cancer anyone?
Dustin Burg @ Mar 19th 2008 5:35PM
@diamondxp - hilarious good sir, hilarious!
webster1990 @ Mar 19th 2008 5:40PM
deffinately gonna put my pre-order in there then.
they are miles cheaper than Game usually in the first place. an extra 500mspoints on top of Game's offer is just more reason to buy from HMV.
stukorn @ Mar 19th 2008 5:57PM
that £130 booklet is like, get £2 off a cd when you buy 8 cd's. vouchers which really add up to NOTHING, but the 1000 points does sound nice.
ZeroCorpse @ Mar 19th 2008 6:12PM
GameStop didn't offer me ANYTHING. I feel so ripped off.
Raheem @ Mar 19th 2008 6:15PM
Webster what are you smoking? (Hmmm, never thought I'd say that sentence!) HMV are always £49.99 straight up. They don't even try to act bothered about it either. Also when it comes to launches, they rarely fulfil preorders.
Sean @ Mar 19th 2008 7:17PM
@Raheem
HMV are selling GTAIV for £39.99 delivered. Same price as game, with more points. Better deal, end of. Everything I've pre-ordered through them in the past (albeit DVDs and CDs) have arrived on time.
Raheem @ Mar 19th 2008 7:32PM
Sean, I'll use my £20 GAME Reward Points plus all the Gift Cards I've got from returning old games. HMV does NOT offer the same value. End of.
Ample Salty @ Mar 19th 2008 7:35PM
I got my pre-order at GAME for £36.99, so that's a saving of £3. Those extra 500 points are worth £4.25 so that's a better deal. But like John, i'm not too trusting of HMV's delivery and I am eager to play this ASAP. >_>
Anaris82 @ Mar 19th 2008 7:58PM
Cool deal, but what is HMV?
Deck @ Mar 19th 2008 8:04PM
@Anaris82: Its a Video game, music, DVD store in the UK. So.. if you live in the UK, that is a mighty fine deal! 1000 MS points for a pre-order is pretty damn sweet.
Boff @ Mar 20th 2008 6:46AM
I'll probably stick with Gameplay.co.uk, they've always been good to me with preorders. I've had a couple the day before release day aswell.
I'd rather be sure I was getting the game than be unsure and have some extra MSP's, but that's just me!
Boff @ Mar 20th 2008 6:48AM
Nice going on the pic & caption Dustin!! Made me laugh anyway!
Ysleiro @ Mar 20th 2008 3:09PM
Can people from U.S. order from HMV ?
