Rock Band Music Store is live, patch released

According to our iron-fisted rulers over at Joystiq, the Rock Band patch that we were expecting sometime this week was just released earlier this morning and changes it makes are ten kinds of cool.

The Music Store is everything Harmonix promised us and more, allowing easy navigation of Rock Band's entire DLC library from within' the game and song previews and lots more rock and roll. We're also told that the game's new DLC caching system dramatically decreases Rock Band's DLC loading time and after a one time quick caching, subsequent startups have DLC load in a few seconds.

Grab your Rock Band title update by signing into Xbox Live and spend, spend, spend! Our goal is to line the music execs pockets and push that 6 million number to 10 million by Summer's end. Twisted, ain't it?

Well if the game was released in eroupe already. 10 million would have already been passed EA would be looking at 20 million by summers end.

Despite all the other things people want, this was an awesome addition and I'm very glad it's in there. Every time I played it I wished there was an in-game store.

It works very well too, the previews stream very quickly. And, more exciting, there's a section for Albums that says "coming soon".

I hope soon is actually, you know, soon.

I love the new music store. It actually tells you what tracks have been purchased and if you bought the pack.

Gotta love album art and previews. This has to be hands down the best update/patch I've ever seen. Way to go Harmonix!

Oh and I'm with Tony. I sure hope it's soon.

Good thing for that whole preview thing, because it just encouraged me to buy a song.

I was saving my points for 4 songs coming out, since I had like 772 points, then I realized that the song I wanted was 80 points, and so I would still have enough for the other four.

crushcrushcrush is a good song :)

Oh, and just so everybody can know, unlike the dashboard, you have to wait at the download blade, because if you close it, it stops the download.

But it's okay because:

a) it updates the store so you can redownload it without purchasing it again (even though it says through 'account management' you can do it through the music store).

b)It downloads really fast. :)

I have Guitar Hero 2 and 3...is it worth selling back both games and keeping the wired guitar, and buying Rock Band? I'm not looking to buy the entire set (my apartment doesn't have enough room) but I'm thinking of either getting a couple guitars or adding a mic on to the guitar I already have. Seems like RB is getting more DLC than GH, and I've pretty much gotten as far as I can with GH. What do you guys think?

Yeah, this is apparently how every in-game download store works. I guess it might be a limitation of LIVE or some rule of MS's... It makes more sense when you consider that the 360 won't let you download and play online at the same time anyway, but it's still pretty annoying.

Still, like you say, it's fast. Usually I get the songs in a couple of minutes max.

I just sold both of my Guitar Hero's and bought Rock Band. It was soooooooooooo worth it. GH doesnt come even close to Rock Band. It will be one of the best decisions you'll ever make. trust me. just keep the GH controller.

I think I'm gonna do it. So just to be clear, the wired GHII guitar works fine with Rock Band right? Also, would you recommend the microphone or the drums as the next instrument I purchase?

I just buy the rock band set and I update it by the xbox live but when I try to enter the music store it appears a window that say: “your family settings have blocked the premium download, go to the dashboard and change family settings” so I go to family settings and change all settings to allowed but the window is still appearing so please if someone can help me or can give me an advise I will thank you a lot.
