RSV2's Private First Class achievement problem

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 players who played the original Rainbow Six Vegas have run into an achievement unlocking wall of annoyance. Simply put, the Private First Class achievement is broken.

You see, many gamers who fire up RSV2 and have previously played RSV are experiencing a problem where they cannot unlock the Private First Class achievement. The reason being that their initial rank is bumped up higher than private first class, because of RSV2 using RSV game saves to set the player's rank. So, upon entering multiplayer, the players' rank is greater than private first class and the achievement refuses to unlock. Teh lame! Some have found a way to work around this unlocking annoyance, but it's time consuming, a hassle and is, well ... also annoying. Ubisoft better release a title update quick and get RSV2 players their 10GS achievement. You do not want to mess with Vegas players Ubi ... you just don't.

I wasn't an elite and I already had the rank as well... so I can't unlock it either...

The ubi devs have responded to this on their forums and they are aware of the bug and they stated that they are addressing it.

I wasn't even an officer...somewhere around first sergeant or something in RSV1 and I got skipped right past PFC in RSV2. Kind of annoying, but I'm not too steamed about it..it's only 10 gamerscore.

If you've played any R6V1, you will get the bump up. Rank is not relevant. If you are an elite, then you get the uber boost. A friend of mine got the boost and he was the lowest rank possible in Vegas one because he only played SP.

Wow, I havn't gooten vegas 2 yet and I didn't know that your rank from 1 was carried over thats sweet. My question is, does it work both ways?
If I am almost an elite in the first Vegas, then aquire the elite rank through 2 will I be able to go back to one with that rank and unlock that achievement?

there also seems to be a bug affecting the freedom shall prevail achievement (75pts, beat game on "realistic")

I was going to send this in last week, but I assumed you would have already heard and just decided to ignore it.

It doesn't affect only people who jump past the rank. I jumped to the rank and also didn't get the achievement.

Is ther a bug with 5 kills without dying, I got 7 for 0 deaths and didn't get it. I assumed that you have to play a game with Respawns turned off rather than not respawning, the wording is ambiguous.

I've heard it unlocks once you reach warrant officer... not sure if it's true though.

@honz12 based on people who have unlocked the officer achievement at Mygamercard.net, I'd say that's not true, unfortunately.

Since several of the maps in this so called sequel are refried maps from past years Xbox versions trotting through them should make for quick, rank-advancement effort, with ease. In fact, the advancement is so easy that its a joke to depend on past games in the way Ubi depends on forcing past game version maps as originals in this sequel.

Someone mentioned earlier about the "Freedom Shall Prevail" Achievement (Ditto for me). Neither of those achievements have unlocked for me. The Ubisoft forums say that they are aware of the issue. I hope so. I want my POINTS!!!!

I was just coming to tell ya'll about the Freedom Shall Prevail "cheevo" not unlocking aswell, but it's already been said, twice, and now I've made it thrice. Well I'm a little annoyed by that and if it really is 75gp, then I'm more so, I need more points!!!! and I've earned them.

Anyway I'll shut up now.
