Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack finally free [update]
We're sure all the fanboys out there were awake late last night, waiting for the Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack to become free at 2AM Pacific last night. Those who did were greeted with sour news: the maps remained at their original price of 800 Microsoft Points. As of this post, the content still isn't free. We're not sure what the problem is, but Bungie.net members are (understandably) miffed. At any rate, the maps should be free sometime soon. Keep an eye out on this post; we'll update once the maps are available free of charge.

Great pic.
I bought mine when they came out, but they don't make the DLC playlist more robust for the upcoming map pack... I may wait till they're free.
I just never felt like I got to play much of the Heroic pack... Now I finally will.
Neuromancer @ Mar 25th 2008 11:52AM
Haha nice pic! How long did it take you to make that, Richard?

This is so annoying that I can't stand it. I have just about given up on waiting for this free DLC so I will probably concentrate on the Battlefield BETA
Lewis @ Mar 25th 2008 11:56AM
*Dances* woo hoo, I found the image on a Bungie forum.
thanks for putting it up, Richard.

As long as it's free when I get home.

I second that itsburnsie. I think I played the DLC hopper twice, and it was VIP half the time, which I never play. I'm going to pass on the new maps as well, unless they immediately set up a hopper with the new maps, not just one with the 3 maps.

Ha HA! That's good for us stuck at work. That way we don't have to hear "oh joy I downloaded my FREE Heroic maps and they're FTW!". Wait for me guys!!!
Jason Magio @ Mar 25th 2008 12:17PM

DaMan09 @ Mar 25th 2008 12:20PM

Perhaps the article can be updated when Halo 3 is fun too. ;)
Lewis @ Mar 25th 2008 12:24PM

Your download is 100% complete.

I love downloading free stuff even though I dont have the game. For example, the Tiger Woods '08 Turnberry Resort... the free Ghost Recon Map Packs, and now the Halo 3 Map Packs. If I ever decided to go retro and play these dated games I can enjoy free content too. With the COD4 maps and GTA4 dropping it appears unlikely that I'll ever use them but oh well.

Can't wait to get home from work.
Download the map pack if the server isn't down yet.
Pop in Halo 3 for the first time in months.
Play it for half an hour.
Get bored and play COD 4 for the rest of the evening.
THE RPG NERD @ Mar 25th 2008 12:59PM
I was up at 2 AM Pacific time last night but it wasn't free so I kept checking every half hour until I got tired and fell asleep. Downloading now.
AnOffday @ Mar 25th 2008 1:08PM
I agree with a lot of the people here. I probably won't even buy the new map pack. Bungie gives us like two modes to play the maps with, and they aren't even ranked. I know they do this for the people who don't have the maps, but in reality they're only hurting the people who actually payed for them. 10 bucks down the drain. It's crap, therefore I won't be buying the new maps.
Neuromancer @ Mar 25th 2008 1:20PM
Yeah I'm mostly looking forward to these free maps just so's I can screw around in Forge with a buddy. The one with the big satellite dishs looks cool to drive around on.
HazyCloud @ Mar 25th 2008 1:41PM
Im with # 1 & 6. I may hold out on the Legendary pack since I only played the DLC playlist about 4 times. With the new maps dropping exactly 2 weeks before GTA IV, I may be waiting for them to be free.
Vcize @ Mar 25th 2008 2:42PM
@itburnsie and anoffday...
My thoughts exactly. They should've just split up the community into those with DLC and those without it (the community is plenty big for that) and let us use the maps in all playlists.
baseball-expert @ Mar 25th 2008 8:33PM
i've only played them once and it kept on going to vip and i was so ticked. besides i probably won't even play them that much. but i will download them anyways.
Ric4ngor1lla @ Mar 27th 2008 2:23PM
anyone having problems downloding the heroic maps, ive been able to muster a 1% download before i get an error message.
