Rock Band patch introduces lag [update]
We're receiving reports that the new title update for Rock Band -- the one that introduced the music store -- is creating some unforeseen problems. Specifically, the patch seems to create some on screen lag not present before the patch. We tested it this morning (we also noticed it over the weekend). Sure enough, there was some lag present and many notes were missed.
Essentially, all the patch does is throw Rock Band's calibration settings out of whack. As the video above notes, the Standard CRT setting defaults to a lag of 0ms. For whatever reason, the patch alters this setting.
[Thanks, Mike McD]

Who the fuck is that in the video? They're a whiny bitch.

Does this mean if I have it set for DLP (not standard CRT), the patch didn't affect it? I haven't played since the patch was released.

the top of his screen is cut off.

He says in his comments on the video:
"I set them back to 0/0 and the lag still persisted, worse than before: I went and removed the patch (like at the beginning of this video) and everything played perfectly again, just like it did the day before the patch."
So it looks like changing it back will not fix the problem.

Hmmmm. That's interesting. I changed my settings back and it seemed fine. Granted, I'm no expert drummer. I did feel like a missed a few kick drums I shouldn't have.
We'll keep an eye on it.

so that's why I was missing notes this weekend! ;) I hadn't played in awhile, figured I was just rusty... but it makes sense.

yes, i've done extensive work on this, and harmonix has confirmed there's a problem.
As I said in the info (which someone finally read it seems), 0/0 before the patch is not the same as 0/0 after the patch.
Many expert drummers/guitarists on the 360 and PS3 on all types of TV's have noticed this, and we've all spent tons of time trying to get it close to what it was before.
If you're on a CRT TV, try out -15/-25 to get it as close as possible to what it was before the patch: it's still not going to be exact though. :/ and to whoever said I was whiny, I was pointing out the locking up of the intro so it was clear that I was on the patch and not just faking it: come look at my videos sometime and see why I have to extensively prove everything I do, as so many people call foul.
