As part of the this week's Xbox Live Arcade new release
announcement, Microsoft also mentioned that Atomic Elbow's previously released
Switchball is going to be re-released this Wednesday, March 26th. With the re-release,
Switchball will benefit by receiving a graphical upgrade as well as a smoother gameplay experience that (for whatever reason) can lead to higher scores. Hopefully the graphical tears will disappear as well. We also gather that all current
Switchball owners will be able to get all the new enhancements via a title update. Happy rolling!

Eh, I tried this game and was not impressed. Marble Blast Ultra is much more fun I think, and it's only $5 now.

When I first bought Switchball I thought, "How do games like this get pass cert?" This game has more screen tearing than Lost Planet.
I can't remember when Switchball came out, but the devs have had plenty of time to fix this. It better be right. The game looks great and could be a nice title.
Before, I couldn't even play it as my eyes were bleeding the whole time. I ain't no graphics whore, but c'mon.

:/ I was pretty impressed with the graphics on this game, free update should be good.

An interview on IGN's Red Rings podcast with the dev from Sierra said that the real reason it's being re-released is because of the fuck-up the first time Switchball was released (not showing up on the New Releases), and they feel they lost a lot of the sales that happen within the first 48 hours of most XBLA releases.

Switchball is kinda boring, but my wife and daughter like it. Well, the higher levels are too hard for my daughter.
I never noticed the screen tearing. Can someone describe it to me?

Try rolling while changing the view with the right stick. If you are using an HDTV, you can't miss it. Terrible coding IMO, but I'm not a programmer.
JUICED @ Mar 25th 2008 2:26PM
I could've done better.

You people are so so stupid - someone has to it! Screen tearing! It annoys you so much that you don't buy it! The developers had to make this update to fix something that was so un-noticeable and unimportant... I've been playing away at Switchball and think the graphics are great! Anyone complaining about screen tearing are just being far too fussy!
Neuromancer @ Mar 25th 2008 2:27PM
Timor basically it's like seeing the top half of the screen and the bottom half of the screen going in two different directions, for like a second. It's assy. DiRT does it a little too but I forgive it because DiRT is the greatest racing game on the Xbox 360, not some POSXBLA title.
Tony @ Mar 25th 2008 2:33PM
DiRT is also $60 and Switchball is $10.
This update fixes the screen tearing, by the way.
HazyCloud @ Mar 25th 2008 2:55PM
@ Ciaran
No one said they didn't buy it because of the screen tearing. It's just something that should of been caught in QA.
-1 for you.
@ Tony
Thanks. I haven't tried it yet. Good info.
ccc @ Mar 25th 2008 2:58PM
I will get this game when the price is reduced till then no hurry.
UTWarden @ Mar 25th 2008 2:58PM
screen tearing wasn't all bad, Yes it's there.
Looking forward to this.
