Baja promises to keep things fresh and new
Promising 40 vehicles, 95 tracks, a robust physics system and a helluvah lot of dirt, THQ's Baja (set to release this August) is turning out to be a serious contender in the off-road racing genre. At least on paper. Recently, IGN sat down with the Baja dev team to talk specifics regarding how the team plans on keeping the gameplay fresh, how multiplayer works, if the damage system is forgiving and how in the world a four hour Baja 1000 will play out over Xbox Live. We learn a lot, our questions get answered, but we still have to see this game in action to know if its worth our gaming time. But until then, we'll leave you with their latest teaser trailer to ponder one question. Will Baja be good times?

For no good reason, I've decided to derisively pronounce this game's name "Basia". Who's with me?

I'd hit that! :P

Visually, it looks like Motorstorm 1 still looks better. But I do hope it plays well though, 'cuase I'm dying for a good off-road racing game that isn't Motorstorm.
I still think DiRT was slightly disappointing because the car physics just didn't feel right at all, but it was fun to play nontheless. And Sega Rally was a big time disappointment.
Personally, Motorstorm remains king of off-road racing.

THQ is a cancer

I think it pales compared to Dirt in almost every way...
Maverick Saturn @ Mar 26th 2008 11:50PM
Yup, new and fresh for sure :)

Baja!? I don't own anything in Baja!

Yeah DiRT can't be touched, that said this game may be worth a quick rent.
This trailer is really jarring by the way when it switches from real world to in game. Why highlight how unrealistic your game looks?

@Neuromancer,
Dirt can't be touched?! How about this: maybe they should add the ability to veer more than 2 feet off the track... you know, like in GOOD rally games. Just because Dirt was first to the next gen doesn't mean it's not the same shitty Colin McRae it's always been.
Where is RalliSport Challenge 3 is my question...
Trekster_Gamer @ Apr 5th 2008 4:30PM
While Dirt can be touched you are showing your personal ignorant bias given how many copies of DIRT have sold. STFU if you can't stay on the track, go back to your Mario Cart....
