GH: Aerosmith to feature Kinks, Cheap Trick, Jett and more
Guitar Hero fans who are no fans of the Aerosmith will be happy to know that this Summer's Guitar Hero: Aerosmith will not be limited to music from the mouth of Steven Tyler. Praise the music gods!Gameinformer received the scoop straight from Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry's mouth, when he mentioned that bands like The Kinks, Cheap Trick, Mott the Hoople and Joan Jett will also be featured in GH:Aero. These new band announcements, on top of Lenny Kravitz, The White Stripes and Deep Purple all of which Perry confirmed previously, make GH:Aero a more rounded and acceptable purchase. That said, we wonder how gamers' negative sentiment surrounding Activision and how they're handling the GH franchise will play out and how well GH:Aero will sell. Thumbs up to the new band announcements though.

I wasn't too sure before, but Cheap Trick and Mott the Hoople shot this up my wanted list.

Activision can lick my balls if they think I'm ponying up anymore cash for their products.
Their screwing of us over the guitar compatability issues pissed me off, and I'm boycotting their products now. I emailed them telling them as much when it occurred.
I suggest any like-minded gamers do the same. Whatever happened to the customer always being right?
Knight Marquise @ Mar 26th 2008 3:21PM
Jonman,
How are they screwing us over on the guitars? My GH 2 & 3 guitars play fine with Guitar Hero.
My Rockband guitar plays fine with Rockband.
Personally, I'll be picking this up for my GH game.
LiqwidZero @ Mar 26th 2008 3:23PM
This music... sounds... um.... very homosexual.
How about catering to the metal crowd, Activision and Harmonix? Come on!
Dick @ Mar 26th 2008 3:30PM
I thought the only compatibility problems were on PS3.
I know people with two different versions of the original guitar (generic/xbox official with gh II), a wireless (from GHIII) AND the Rockband guitar...
No Issues for teh xboxes.

@jonman -
The Customer Being right is, 9 times out of 10, a figment of the very same customer's imagination. Not a reliable source for data on customer rightness, imho.
@LiqwidZero -
How is any of this music "... um.... very homosexual"?
Apparently you never played GH II or III... A lotta songs on there were pretty metal, my friend. As a matter of fact, wasn't THE song for GH III a seven minute metal ridiculousness festival by some obscure band that wound up being a top song last year due to GH III?
Through the Fire and the Flames, right?
And unless there is a song called "Sex with men, love it live," or, "Homosexuality rules" I dont think any of these songs, or many others for that matter, can be called or classified as "homosexual."
Grow up, listen to something other than... whatever you're listening to now, because it has clearly stunted your emotional and educational growth.
Cian @ Mar 26th 2008 3:39PM
The inclusion of Deep Purple piques my interest a bit. I'll probably still only end up game-flyin' it.
Knight Marquise @ Mar 26th 2008 3:39PM
Interesting,
I'd never heard =anyone= refer to Areosmith, Joan Jett, or Cheap Trick as sounding "homosexual".
Hell, I don't even know what "homosexual" sounds like.
MrMuggs @ Mar 26th 2008 3:40PM
This is the same game with new songs. Why would anyone pay $60 for new songs? If it were Rock Band they would just release an Aerosmith DLC pack along with the other groups. Now that Rock Band is out, anyone who buys GH is an idiot...
Josh @ Mar 26th 2008 4:26PM
guitar hero still poses a better challenge for plastic guitar experts. i'm certainly not one of those, so i'm more than happy with rock band's offerings, and i've honestly touched guitar hero maybe once or twice since buying rock band
they've got some work to do, to pull back people like me to the guitars only games
Jonman @ Mar 26th 2008 4:44PM
I have one GH2 guitar, one Rock Band guitar, and one wife who loves for us to play games on 360 together.
GH2 doesn't (and won't ever) support the Rock Band guitar. Likewise for GH 3. So, despite that fact that I *already* own 2 guitar controllers, I can't play multiplayer on either GH game. Unless I buy a *third* guitar.
Thanks a bunch Activision - for your undying efforts to bleed my wallet, I'll be taking my wallet elsewhere.
Knight Marquise @ Mar 26th 2008 5:15PM
Interesting.
From reading the comments here, evidently the Rock Band Fan Club Train left the station without me. RB was was the biggest dissapointment for 2007 in regards to my game purchases. I rarely touch it, and much prefer the GH 2 & 3 games.
Hell, the drums, which I was plenty excited about, absolutely ruin the game with the ungodly noise they produce while using them.
I will say, however, that the RB guitar is the best "feeling" out of my 3 guitars, it's too bad it broke after a few uses, yet my GH guitars keep on playing.
WTFoxtrot @ Mar 26th 2008 5:51PM
@Knight...
I completely agree with you on the noise issue regarding the drums. It would be nice if the hard plastic surfaces were replaced with rubber so that you could actual hear the real drums playing through your speakers.
Brad @ Mar 27th 2008 8:42AM
Just what I need... more Kinks in the system.
LOL, that is so funny! Wow, I am so clever. Stop talking now? Yeah, you bet.
Brad @ Mar 27th 2008 8:53AM
Aerosmith is ok as a band, and I'll probably pick this up... although definitely not right away, but the band I really want more of (preferably for Rock Band) is AC/DC. Although, I would probably break my drum set if I started rocking out to You Shook Me All Night Long... I nearly break my steering wheel every time I hear it in the car.
AJ @ Mar 27th 2008 8:27PM
Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Nirvana, and The Doors, I dont hear of these bands on GH3, please tell me if its on Rock Band, because this GH:Aerosmith isn't worth $60.00.
