Major Nelson offers up 100 Bad Company beta codes

Having problems getting into the Battlefield: Bad Company beta? We mean legitimately of course. Well, Xbox Live's Major Nelson has you covered! For the next 10 days the Major will award 10 fresh beta codes per day, equaling the 100 codes he was able to snag for EA's Battlefield: Bad Company beta test.
The controversial beta of the upcoming first-person shooter went live on March 25 and is set to run until April 25. For details on the giveaway, including how you can be entered to win, visit Major Nelson's blog.

Thanks for making my chances so many times smaller...

I'd like to try before I buy.

Not interested in supporting a game that provides superior weapons for those players who pay extra. This isn't real life, it's a $60 video game that rewards those who pay $65+
Change the DLC and maybe I'll reconsider, but chances are I'll just stick with COD4 and the $10 map pack that I'll gladly pay for since it's NEW content that cost the developers to create and does not create unfair advantages (except if it becomes free, those who bought it are obviously more experienced with the map layout).

They have said that the weapons that you have to pay to get are not an unfair advantage to people who do not pay for them. It serves as an alternative to people who want different weapons, but they will NOT be more powerful than the weapons already included in the game. I am not for these transactions, but just wanted to get the facts straight.

There is no superior advantage in the unlockable weapons, same goes for Vegas 2.
Anticrawl @ Mar 26th 2008 5:42PM
Besides how are you going to pass up supporting a great developer just because it was published by EA?
JakubK666 (Ninja Defence Force) @ Mar 26th 2008 6:04PM
@ Anticrawl
If there wasn't any advantage, what would be the point of paying 800/160 points for it?
PA's new comic sums it all up

Seriously after all they've put us through, does anybody still give a shit about this game?
Anticrawl @ Mar 26th 2008 6:34PM
Whatever dude, be pissed and bitter. I'm going to support a fantastic developer (DICE) with my money.
On another note who is excited for Battlefield Heroes?

Free game from the makers of DICE because they are a fantastic bunch of people who douchebags won't support from time to time.
Zac LaCombe @ Mar 26th 2008 6:36PM
The sniper's a one-shot kill regardless pretty much so I can't see and advantage over that.
Anticrawl @ Mar 26th 2008 6:40PM
Bah, the developer DICE not the makers of DICE. Hahaha...

Some of you guys are getting your undies in a wad for no reason. These "for purchase" weapons are no different than a pink Razr. When Razr phones first came out, they were either in silver or black. OR if you really wanted to be cool, you could pay $50 more and get a pink one. No additional functionality, but dang, doesn't it look cool! (if you like that that kinda thing).
The point is the same. It's a different skin of a weapon, but it's not going to give you any extra advantage, EA has specifically said so. But ooh, you got the BFG of sniper rifles... sweet!
/sarcasm
Besides, you're going to have to get used to this, as other games such as WarRock for the PC have been doing this for quite some time, and the previously mention Battlefield:Heroes will be doing so as well.
As for Bad Company, I played it for a couple of hours today, and honestly, I wasn't really jazzed about it. I've played tons of BF2 and BF2142 for the PC, and I love those games, but it just seemed to not work so well in this console format. It didn't help that I had a hard time figure out how to do things like resupply or use anything other than the standard weapon (I eventually did figure them out). I would have liked to see them be a little more intuitive. As for team player, there's little incentive to work as a unit, but instead to just rambo it in. Maybe with a little more play the teamwork factor will change, but so far I've been a bit diappointed in that aspect.
The explosions are very pretty, though.

I'm kinda bummed they decided to make this game a micro payment based game.

Anyone else notice Major Nelson has Condemned 2 in his list of achievements, the swine.
Big Bird @ Mar 27th 2008 10:48AM
To each their own, but after getting my games to connect last night (server issues the first day). I am buying the game. Sure the parachutes aren’t there but those are minor things that just might not be in the beta. Reminds me of the last 360 Battlefield game but with larger maps and destructible environments.
Those "better" weapons don’t do a lot of good if you get shot in the head from across the map folks.
sp00ks102 @ Mar 27th 2008 11:27AM
I don't think paying for weapons makes them any better and isn't such a bad idea. I won't get a powerful weapon just for paying more. It'll just be like unlocking different armor in H3 (even though that is an achievement) or the infamous gold armored horse in Morrowind (you had to pay for that too, remember). It wasn't a faster horse, but people will still throw down the cash, just to appear different.

As far as I know about BF:Heroes, the micro-payments will focus on clothes and character customization. And the point is it's free so they are FULLY ALLOWED pull this shit off.
We're talking about a retail $60 game here for fuck sake!
Mervin @ Mar 27th 2008 8:46PM
You guys know you can download the beta on the internet and burn iso to dvd and play the beta via dvd on your 360. I dont even have a key, the key is to confirm download. I was playing the beta without a key. It works with unmodded 360s too.
thecosbyreturns @ Apr 8th 2008 7:06PM
COULD SOME ONE PLEASE SEND ME A SPARE BETA KEY? MY GAMERTAG IS thecosbyreturns
