Turok ships 1 million, cheap 5 map DLC tomorrow

At this point, it's pretty much a given. When publishers release new downloadable maps for their shooters, they sell them for 800 MS Points. At least, that's the case when they know that they can. Sure, COD4 and Halo 3 players will pay 800 MS Points for a handful of maps. Both games have so many players that the publishers are bound to sell enough content to make money (it doesn't hurt that gamers have to download maps if they plan on playing with their map owning friends). When your title doesn't even crack the Live top ten, some more strategic planning is required. Thus, the Turok Velociraptor Pack, which contains 5 new maps (more than either of the upcoming packs for COD4 or Halo 3), will debut tomorrow for a mere 400 MS Points.

Touchstone also announced that Turok has shipped over 1 million units worldwide. No easy feat given the competition mentioned above. If you'd like to get your hands on one of those copies, don't forget to enter our Turok giveaway, which runs until Friday afternoon.

Now that's a price that's reasonable, it should be a standard. 800 is day light robbery. Pity Turok is crap though.

I still don't understand how this game has sold so many copies. I guess maybe "Turok" still holds some name recognition. It was fun back on the 64.

gah that game was terrible rented it played it once and then hid it from myself for a week to avoid playing it again. I want my $8 back for renting it.

What a steaming load of garbage. Ton of fun on the N64, but there is no way that it should have sold more than maybe 100k copies. 1 mil is a joke. That eclipses much MUCH better titles >< I guess name recognition is everything

This makes me very sad =/

wow, that almost made me piss myself!

I actually really enjoyed the single player campaign. But Im weird.

I was almost gonna trade this is tonight for Dark Sector, then I reminded myself that Dark Sector was about as fun as taxes.

Shipped or sold 1 million? You know they always spin it to where it sounds best, just like when Sony said it had shipped so many million PS3's, but they were all sitting on store shelves.

Someone's a moron i see.....SHIPPED means that they were sent to stores, and could pssibly be sitting on store shelves doing nothing. SOLD means somebody went to the register (or cart online) and PAID for it. D-o y-o-u u-n-d-e-r-s-t-a-n-d?

Please give us a comic book version of Turok. Someone needs to buy the license from Touchstone (though now the current game with the addition of the impending crummy movie noone will want to buy it).

I don't know why people hate the game. The single player, at least, was fun! I am lead to believe that people just hate the game because it is generally so and it is cool to do so. Even before playing the game, they have it in the back of their minds that the game sucks...and then it will suck. If you give it a proper try, it is actually very fun. Of course it can't compare to other big titles.

Taxes are probably more fun than Dark Sector, at least you usually get a phatty refund at the end of taxes.

Instead of making this crap, they should remake the original N64 Turok with updated graphics. I'd buy it! (BTW that game was $70 when it came out and that was over 10 years ago!)
