Capcom buys rights to MotoGP franchise
Word on the internet street is that our corporate pals over at Capcom have gobbled up the rights to the MotoGP franchise for the next five years. This new franchise agreement will have Capcom releasing a new MotoGP game based on the 2008 season that should makes its way across all consoles (even cell phones) including the Xbox 360. We believe this to be pretty dandy good news for MotoGP fans as we'll see a re-vitalization of sorts, but we have to fear that Capcom may alter whatever recipe MotoGP has followed in years previous. Oh, and the fact that they already have plans to whore the franchise out across every single platform known to man worries us just a touch.[Via Xboxic, Thanks Jonah Falcon]

I wanted to like this series, I just don't find them all that fun (and the graphics have not been stellar). On a related note, I hope EA's working on the next Road Rash.

They were funnnn...but...I'd rather play other things, ya know?

Konami was doing MotoGP for the 360 and other consoles - just a tiny l'il footnote. ;)

Yeah whatever happened to Konami.. They really don't do much for the 360 do they? I'd sell my soul for a 3D-graphics 2D-gameplay remake of Castlevania III...

I bought Moto GP 06 and loved it, despite a lot of flaws. Moto GP 07 really didn't look dramatically different so I laid off of it this year. Hopefully Capcom can give them a bigger budget to work with because from the sound of things from some of their developer blogs, that sounds like an extremely small team that was behind the Moto GP series.

I thought Capcom published the games on Sony platforms while THQ handled publishing duties for the Xbox.

Okay...sure I can deal with this. As long as MotoGP 08 has some better achievements and not the same old shit as 07 and 06. Yes: MotoGp 06 and 07 had essentially exactly the same achievements.
I love MotoGP and if only the game would have rewarded me with more achievements for the time I played it, I would have played it more. Here's to hoping MotoGP has very similar (near-perfect) physics as 06 and 07 (I preferred 07's from the demo) but with new achievements...
Oh yea...and LOL at Pedrosa flying off his whip. Damn he can ride. Not as well as Rossi and Stoner tho... LOL
