Thanks for the heads up! I just downloaded the song. I was surprised to see that they even had the song on the Rock Band Store with album art.
sam @ Mar 31st 2008 8:46PM
my girlfriend and I just played through it 4 times - it rocks!
soulpopped @ Mar 31st 2008 8:48PM
I think it's just optimism but what if they said that this would be the DLC (and it is, technically), but then tomorrow, "April Fools! Not only GlaDOS but also Who's Next! Enjoy!"
TwistedD00M @ Mar 31st 2008 9:12PM
Add me on XBL if you wanna play: TwistedD00M

Drew @ Mar 31st 2008 10:34PM
Well I have to give EA props for this, giving all us nerds a free song so we stop ranting about how much DLC costs. Smart
Lewis @ Mar 31st 2008 10:36PM
I never played Portal and don't like the song but it's free, so...whatever.
Lewis @ Mar 31st 2008 10:38PM
BTW: Misspelled "Still" in a sentence there.
Deezul @ Mar 31st 2008 10:54PM
I've heard the song twice before downloading it. If you think this is "Teh Best Song Evar" you know nothing about music. It's OK, but honestly, 10 years from now who is going to remember it? More people will associated "Mad, Mad World" with Gears than they will this song. And speaking of "Mad, Mad World," someone has covered it as a rock song. Now THAT should show on Rock Band.
Intentless @ Mar 31st 2008 11:04PM
Deezul... Because "Mad World" was never covered as a rock song... BTW music isn't about how hard it is to write or create its about how well you enjoy and is all subjective...
Anyway. Still Alive is a great tune even it is simplistic by the idealogy of musicality... But it sure beats the hell out of 99% of today's music. Even the historically great bands can't come out with anything worth listening to..... They should look into getting classic 80s tv themes like thundercats, transformers, voltron and GI Joe in there... Now that would be cool...
Shh101890 @ Mar 31st 2008 11:36PM
Downloaded it and played it, like the song, but have not played portal. Little easy on guitar in my opinion.
Tony @ Apr 1st 2008 12:01AM
It's just a funny song with a good sense of melody. I enjoyed playing through it and I certainly can't complain about the price. Everyone can't love everything I guess.
Who cares if anyone remembers it in 10 years? The fact is that it's popular now, it's continued to be popular for several months and it's a fun song for a great, great game. A game that will likely not be forgotten in 10 years whatsoever to begin with, meaning that as time goes on more and more people will be exposed to it.
I doubt anyone is going to be playing Rock Band on their 360 at that point anyway. We'll be on the next system and Rock Band 3 by then.
digitalain @ Apr 1st 2008 1:22AM
This made my day.
digitalain @ Apr 1st 2008 1:27AM
Rock Band FTW
Rell @ Apr 1st 2008 1:57AM
My friend started singing and I almost cried. layed a good 6 times.
Magic Whiskey @ Apr 1st 2008 2:28AM
96%d singing on Medium, and FAILED COMPLETELY on guitar on Medium...I suck! Haha!!
I love the song tho!
Boff @ Apr 1st 2008 6:30AM
Deezul: 'Mad World' (by Tears for fears) was written and released as a pop song long before it was used in a game advert. 'Still Alive' is a song written specifically for a video game. In this case, Portal.
There is a difference.
Deezul @ Apr 1st 2008 7:15AM
I never said there wasn't a difference; I was just commenting on someone saying this is the greatest song ever. Please. If it WAS, then Harmonix would have charged for it. If it wasn't free, I know I wouldn't pay for it, and I'm sure even some fans of it wouldn't pay either.
Scott @ Apr 1st 2008 8:59AM
Even though Still Alive is good and fun, I probably wouldn't have paid for it. If they had Gary Jules' cover of "Mad World" up there though, I would pay for it, cuz that song is slick. Even though I don't *think* there is a guitar at all in that version, let alone two.
LiqwidZero @ Apr 1st 2008 9:36AM
My brother and I played this about 4 or so times last night.
Another thing to add to my "Good Times" list.
kaion @ Apr 1st 2008 1:02PM
we should have got Code Monkey instead, oh well Still Alive is funny too
