I don't buy at Best Buy.
Worst is not the best, and the best should never be the worst, and Best Buy is definately the Worst Buy, so why are they the "Best Buy?" It's confounding.

free is free ... Im getting one...
I ll try to use the casing for an external HDD for my xbox360... the hd-dvd inside is basically junk, I know...
It does become a super huge usb hub come to think of it !

HAHAHA, I had this Jewish friend on anti-psychotic meds for a while and once while in Best Buy he somehow got it into his head that every employee there was anti-semetic and started shouting "Best Buy? More Like Worst Buy!"
We had to grab him and take him to the car to calm down.
Maybe the ADL lists Best Buy as a hate group? Lord knows they list everybody else as one. I think 360Fanboy is on the list.

The date range is actually from Jan 1 2007, not 2008. Check the online page, it's clearly shown. And good luck finding one - your best bet is in less populated areas. Local stores have been out of stock for quite a while. There'll only be a handful left across Canada.
I had to fight for my gift card (purchased Feb 28 or so, right at the price drops). Store didn't want to do it, had to point them to their Retail Zone binder and check for the News Flash which clearly showed that the 360 drive DOES qualify for this.
Since then I've been grabbing clearance movies for $8-12 each. Some are combo which are great, but most are cheaper than even the regular DVD pricing. Can't beat it for now.

You'll still be paying the taxes, but for $6.50, you can't go wrong =)

@Viridium, where have you been finding deals on HD DVDs ? I need to build my library.

When HD-DVD makes a comeback, you all will be HATING YOURSELVES!!!! Muhahahahaha!!!1!
xenocidic @ Apr 1st 2008 11:05AM
@Loon err? why? This is a rebate, you don't have to return your HD DVD player to take advantage of it.
P.S. Thanks for posting my story, Dusty.

xenocidic - you've probably missed out by now with Walmart, Best Buy, and HMV who have had clearances recently. Predominantly on Universal titles, but a number of others as well. Unfortunately, those stores have generally been pretty picked over. Again, if you can find a more remote location you may be able to get lucky.
Hopefully some more stores will get in on the act. Amazon.ca's prices are still pretty poor if they really want to get rid of their stock.
At the time I bought my drive, I pricematched at BB to The Source, who were selling it for $39.99. End result was that I paid $38.99 plus Ontario taxes, or $44.06. With the gift card promo, Best Buy actually paid ME almost $6 to buy the drive. In the end I just turned around and spent that gift card on clearance HD flicks from them last Thursday.

This kind of sucks. I bought my player at the end of '06 so I don't qualify. The deal should just include anyone who has bought the player regardless of year.

oOo, reply button is back!
Thanks for the tips V, I'll take a look.

I have my hd dvd player add on and i hate it now. Why get a regular player?
xenocidic @ Apr 1st 2008 6:58PM
The rebate applies also to the add-on.
