bartons @ Apr 1st 2008 12:09PM
Excellently done, Xav. I look forward to the inevitable (and long) post on showing how to "Kill a million zombies" from Dead Rising.
ZEBRA NINER @ Apr 1st 2008 12:10PM
HAHAHAHA! Oh the sweetness of the Ch33v0z!
Seriously though, this is a great idea. Are you going to be taking requests? I say "Mile High Club" cheevo, should be super easy. ;)
Neuromancer @ Apr 1st 2008 12:14PM
Thanks but playing this game on Regular was brutal enough (not in terms of difficulty but in terms of enjoyment). You couldn't pay me enough to touch Veteran mode.
Lewis @ Apr 1st 2008 1:37PM
Good vid, makes me wanna try it now. I gave up around 4 months ago.
BTW Off-Topic: FINALLY, a Reply button to comments. Did I JUST notice that or is this actually new?
xFenixKnightx @ Apr 1st 2008 12:30PM
Wow X3F, this is awesome. Props to you guys for doing this. Ive been having all 1000gp on this game and the hardest level on Veteran is No fighting in the War Room on the second half of that level. It was frustrating for sure. Mile High Club is very difficult as well. You just have to time and pattern all the enemy movements.
Neuromancer @ Apr 1st 2008 12:33PM
Haha, "No fighting in the War Room," great Dr Strangelove reference!
ArturoRRG @ Apr 1st 2008 12:53PM
Can you please post "No fighting in the War Room"??? Its 2 frustrating!! Im in the middle and cant go fordward, I get kill in the 2 way path by the gas pipes.
PlayHarder @ Apr 2nd 2008 11:27AM
Go prone around the corners and you should be able to kill them without getting killed.
Xav de Matos @ Apr 1st 2008 12:54PM
Thanks for the feedback everyone. In case no one realized this was the achievement related surprise I mentioned in the comments of this week's Fancast.
Next up for Points>Life? Tune in next week to find out!
Also, what does everyone think of the name "Points>Life," (as in Points Greater Than Life)? We kinda just threw it out there and it stuck around the Fanboy towers.
ZEBRA NINER @ Apr 1st 2008 1:18PM
I like the "Points>Life" because it's true. ;)
Neuromancer @ Apr 2nd 2008 10:04AM
Too bad Achievement Junkie is already taken... Points>Life is good but doesn't exactly roll of the tongue...
xFenixKnightx @ Apr 1st 2008 1:07PM
Arturo
The thing is there is no "trick" to that stage. You just have to be veeeeeeery patient and kill everysigle guy. I went left in the first hallway after you go downstairs, I just found it easier. Then you get to that last hallway and I went right and saved my flashbangs and nades until that last stretch. Once you get to that oart where you close off that door with the fire behind it the level is a peice of cake. I was having save point problems for some reason so its also another thing that added to the frustration.
ArturoRRG @ Apr 1st 2008 2:11PM
Thanks for your advise. Im stuck in the last hallway, Ill start trying again because gave up after beeing all the afternoon trying without success.
Ill try to be more patient.
Adorada @ Apr 1st 2008 4:20PM
Nice video for those who have not seen it. The strategy has been out since launch and it is what I used to complete the level on veteran my first playthrough.
Another tip, for those who don't know, is that you can place your claymores/C4s down around the perimeter before you drop the captain (or whatever his name is. Haven't played in since RSV2). When you eventually do drop the captain off, he will give you another set of C4/Claymores to spread around. Very helpful to secure the area.
ivan225 @ Apr 1st 2008 2:08PM
the way i did it is i hid in the little toll booth to the right of the ferris wheel and waited for the chopper to come. I only killed 2 bad guys while hid in their but 4 me thats the easiest way
Jayslacks @ Apr 1st 2008 2:07PM
Yeah, I love this. Just make sure you do a variety of games. It would suck if this became a Halo 3/COD4 cheat vid once a week. Love the site, guys.
ljung8erg @ Apr 1st 2008 2:42PM
Be great to see more vids like this, a very good feature and the name "Points>Life" will do.
That level was harsh on regular but maybe I'll have another go with those tips in mind. Cheers!
Ivan R. @ Apr 1st 2008 2:11PM
ohh and by the right one i meant one u put the captain down and ur looking at the buildings its the one to the far right by the wall.
THE RPG NERD @ Apr 1st 2008 2:56PM
How about "I Heart Cheevos" as a possible name?
ZEBRA NINER @ Apr 1st 2008 3:19PM
Oh yes... NICE. This would be much better.
Lewis @ Apr 1st 2008 4:25PM
It's too cliche.
How bout:
Ch33v0s PLZKTHXBAI
Halwende @ Apr 1st 2008 4:04PM
Great idea for site content, love it - especially if you stick to those "hard to get" achievements or showing neat tips & tricks (standing on the spawn point - heh!)
s.tillings @ Apr 1st 2008 4:26PM
Nice work, Xav. I've been getting killed left on right on Veteran (kind of like running around on N+) so this will give me some unexpected points.
D @ Apr 1st 2008 5:18PM
Nice... unfortunately I can't get past the first part of that level. I just can't seem to get to the building on veteran.
Momer @ Apr 1st 2008 5:05PM
Not sure if this applies to the single-player, but you don't need the C4 detonator out to use it. You can just double tap X.
Digital Limit @ Apr 1st 2008 5:50PM
I'd like the name more if it had a logo to go along with it. At first glance I thought an html tag got dropped into the code, heh.
Hoffer @ Apr 1st 2008 8:00PM
I didn't run behind that building. I just went and hid behind the bumper car ride. I'd stick my head around the corner and kill any dude running toward me. If I'd get shot, I'd duck back behind the ride to recover.
When the helicopter landed, I just grabbed my guy and hauled ot the chopper.
As to beating "War Room", the key for me was going prone when shooting guys down the hall. I read the tip from fourzerotwo from Infinity Ward. Worked for me.
Bluemanrule @ Apr 2nd 2008 2:47AM
Nicely done. I don't have COD4 yet but I'll definitely use this walkthrough. How about somebody doing one for Bioshock. I still haven't finished that darn game.
HazyCloud @ Apr 3rd 2008 9:47AM
Thank you Xav! I was stuck here and haven't touched it in over a week. I think I'll go back and try tonight.
One question. If this vid is for cheevos, why didn't you mention the enemy intel in this level you have to grab right by where you told us to stand behind the building? I think its number 23/30. You can't grab it until the helicopers come, then the doors across from where you are standing will open. The intel is in there.
Xav de Matos @ Apr 3rd 2008 10:20AM
Actually that's a good question.
Since the spawn point you're breaking IS that door being opened, you can stand there all day and night and it won't open!
What I recommend is to load it up again on Normal and grab it then.
HazyCloud @ Apr 3rd 2008 5:00PM
I see. Thanks for the heads up. I'l give it a try tonight and see if that C4 helps. I have a feeling it will.
This couldn't of been a better Points>Life vid. This is what I needed. Thanks again.
Neuromancer @ Apr 4th 2008 10:46AM
Ooh ooh I got a good one: Cheevo Hunter
Flakundenga @ Apr 5th 2008 6:07PM
