Ubisoft finally announces Tom Clancy's HAWX
After a morning of frustrating countdowns we realize why our questions about the upcoming Ubisoft announcement went unanswered as IGN exclusively revealed the first title to be announced since the acquisition of the Tom Clancy name. Introducing the flight-combat title, Tom Clancy's HAWX. That's right spelling and grammar police it's called HAWX.
Developed by Ubisoft's Bucharest Studio, HAWX lets players control over 50 planes in dogfights across the sky. Set in 2012, HAWX includes your standard political storyline where private military companies are becoming increasingly more important in the fight for ... freedom, we guess.
Featuring an Enhanced Reality System (ERS) HAWX features in-game assists made to keep the experience as fun and intuitive as possible. The innovative ERS allows gamers to turn on tactical maps, read damage control systems and do pretty much everything else a heads-up display (HUD) has been doing since the dawn of the gaming age it seems. OK, it actually does cooler things like weapons trajectory control too.
HAWX supports four-player jump in and jump out co-op throughout the entire campaign and also includes a Vs. mode for up to 16 players. Tom Clancy's HAWX releases this fall on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Lame
webster1990 @ Apr 2nd 2008 7:36PM
agreed. never really like flight based games, i wanted GRAW3, or another new game to go along side in a similar vein to rainbow 6 and GR
DiscoGhost @ Apr 3rd 2008 7:58AM
agreed, flight based games are weak.
EDW @ Apr 2nd 2008 7:33PM
don't think it looks that great, but i could be wrong. well ace combat 6 will probably have a price drop by the time this comes out anyway
BowserUSC @ Apr 2nd 2008 7:53PM
It'd be dope if you could use the AC6 special controller with this game.
Parsnipzilla @ Apr 3rd 2008 1:13AM
And Ace Combat's been through more of a "refining" process than this game.
And BowserUSC, do you use dope in every sentence?
Digital Limit @ Apr 2nd 2008 7:29PM
Whoa, the graphics are insane!
BowserUSC @ Apr 2nd 2008 7:31PM
This game looks dope. You don't know what you're talking about xithos.
xenocidic @ Apr 2nd 2008 7:32PM
Is this the official title of Firehawk?
ZEBRA NINER @ Apr 2nd 2008 7:32PM
neato.
I like the title. It saves me so much time typing HAWX instead of HAWKS. w00t for less letters.
Project Ekim @ Apr 2nd 2008 7:32PM
Looks really sweet!
Josh @ Apr 2nd 2008 7:35PM
looks pretty nice, hopefully they put a demo out for it when they are ready to release it.
Patrick @ Apr 2nd 2008 8:04PM
the graphics aren't anything special a lot of straight lines. Plus its not gameplay its all cutscenes. All games nowadays have decent cut scenes even vegas (laughs).
victor360hd @ Apr 2nd 2008 7:43PM
awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
NitroFrost @ Apr 2nd 2008 7:48PM
BAD ASS
Cal @ Apr 2nd 2008 7:56PM
Didn't take them long to get to work on the milking...
Erik @ Apr 2nd 2008 8:48PM
Didn't they announce this earlier, just under a different name? They could have at least announced a new game instead of announcing the same game again.
SovietSpartan @ Apr 2nd 2008 9:00PM
What I think is amazing is that they finally are making an action flight game on the PC. You flight simmers out there, who like me, bought a Saitek x52, know this is what we been waiting for. The acecombat 6 stick is very similar in looks but i haven't used it.
I love how the stories are all being integrated in the Tom Clancy series, it feels like an episode of 24 when all the random events start coming together. I wonder if end war takes place at the end of this game. Plus missions in this game may also act as leads towards the next GRAW sort like those flash forwards in LOST!
This could trump Ace Combat, I mean who really gives a crap about GRACEMERIA/San Francisco.
BowserUSC @ Apr 2nd 2008 11:36PM
It's a lot like Tom Clancy's books and the Jack Ryan character.
Insomnious @ Apr 2nd 2008 8:05PM
Cool, the end of that video was the same opening sequence from GRAW2, with Mitchell calling in the strike on the tanks. Nice to see things from a different perspective. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
rTwelve @ Apr 2nd 2008 8:07PM
wow this game RAWX
Boff @ Apr 3rd 2008 9:12AM
Nice one
Ryan @ Apr 2nd 2008 8:13PM
I am actually disappointed. I really wanted another Ghost Recon. :(
David W. @ Apr 2nd 2008 9:35PM
uhhh...it's in production, but don't get too excited, it's a different production team, the one that made the earlier version
DemonGSides @ Apr 3rd 2008 2:44AM
Thank god for that. The earlier games were so much better.
The first Ghost Recon was my first Live game....
Josh @ Apr 2nd 2008 8:14PM
I think it looks pretty tight the graphics are amazing and pretty much all of the other flight games are garbage, so i hope this one will be better!!
NukeAssault @ Apr 2nd 2008 8:27PM
Pretty cool. Cant wait for some gameplay vids.
RacrSoldr @ Apr 2nd 2008 8:38PM
Come on I wanted GRAW 3 I already played top gun in 1987
gk128 @ Apr 2nd 2008 8:58PM
Is it just me or have the Tom Clancy games gotten boring and stale? I mean I have barely played R6V2 since buying it and GRAW2 had a short shelf life as well.
This could be a refreshing change, but Ubi also did Blazing Angels so I'm not holding my breath.
Also to the dude who keeps saying "dope" about everything, I think I speak for us all when I say stop calling things "dope".
SovietSpartan @ Apr 2nd 2008 9:10PM

I can see what your saying but in the long run, I'm really interested in seeing where all the series are going. I personally see each game as a chapter of a story, a love the gameplay style in these games.
Could a R6/GRAW/SC/HAWX/ENDWAR crossover MMO game come out in the future? Ala Planetside but not suck? (I realize I'm dreaming).
Tony Bowman @ Apr 2nd 2008 9:00PM
finally something different than another damn tactical shooter from the Tom Clancy name.
excited about this one.
Deck @ Apr 2nd 2008 9:09PM
This actually has potential and sparked my interest. Think I will be keeping my eye on this one!
THE RPG NERD @ Apr 3rd 2008 1:02AM
wait a minute.... somone thought that was gameplay? Every Tom Clancy game premieres with a CG trailer. Anyways, if it controls like Crimson Skies and is at least half as good it'll be worth a buy.
Anticrawl @ Apr 3rd 2008 2:44AM
I can't believe anyone thought this was something other than a flight game. I thought the videos/audio clips were more than a slap in the fucking face. They were screaming, "FLIGHT GAME FLIGHT GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH YOU'RE A FUCKING MORON ITS NOT GRAW3!!!!!!!!!!!."
Anticrawl @ Apr 3rd 2008 2:45AM
Anyway I'm realy excited for this game. I passed up Ace Combat because of the lame anime-like story and the shitty ground textures that seem like mostly low-res 1-d pictures.
webster1990 @ Apr 3rd 2008 7:41AM
i thought it WAS going to be a flight game, i just hoped it wasn't
Boff @ Apr 3rd 2008 9:14AM
They already have two sequels in the works:
Tom Clancy's HAWX Underground and HAWX American Wasteland!
I'll get my coat.
Neuromancer @ Apr 3rd 2008 10:14AM
SovietSpartan, don't make me sing the Gracemarian anthem for you.
Go dance with the angels, Mister!
SovietSpartan @ Apr 3rd 2008 11:47PM
Do it. lol
I don't care for the story in that game, but I love just flying and blowing things up no matter how unrealistic my "back" button weapons are.
Fa22Dragon @ Apr 3rd 2008 2:13PM
looks insane i love flight games and if you dont why are you looking at this????????????? but i really hope they dont mess this one up like they did blazing angels coz that was really really bad tho i thought ace combat 6 was immense so i hope they follow that route
