COD4 DLC confirmed to hit April 3rd/4th

Apparently the guys over at the Infinity Ward studios heard that the internet was up in arms (and we even knew what day it was too) over the news that the Call of Duty 4 Variety DLC might be delayed by a week. In response to the internet craziness, their resident community guy, IAMfourzerotwo, took cahrge and implied directly that the whole thing really was an April Fools day joke and that we can all expect to be seeing the maps go live on the night of the 3rd or early in the morning on the 4th. Despite what any "official sources" might have to say about it, IAMfourtzerotwo notes that the news also goes for those players who had any kind of redemption code (GOTY buyers, etc). Fourtzerotwo mentions as well that the GOTY website will soon be changed to dispel any remaining confusion. Good news all around, and looks like we'll be playing new maps before the weekend gets here!

I was debating between these or the halomaps, but Lockout and sidewinder are too good to pass up. So hopefully they become free, that would be nice.

Says nothing about it being a joke. And the GOTY site still hasn't been updated, even though it's now available in stores. I wonder if 402 really knows what is going on here. Ultimately Activision/Microsoft control the release date... not IW.

I guess I can justify paying $10 for more maps considering I only paid $40 for this game to begin with. Now only if they'll remove the lamest aspect of this game -- martyrdom: when some asshole drops a grenade after I shoot him in the face. So lame.

Eventually you'll get into the habit of moving away from this dead bodies you just plugged in the face. I say let them keep martydom as it's just a waste of a perk slot that will rarely ever kill you when you learn to treat every fresh kill as a potential 3 second threat.

No, you're right. I've definitely gotten used to it, but I still think it's lame. People like to tout the realism of this game, but what's real about pulling a pin and dropping a grenade AFTER you die? Show me one person who can pull the pin with an assault rifle round in his brain.

I mean even with 'Last Stand' you don't always get it. If you get blown up, you don't survive to shoot the gun. The same should go for martyrdom. Headshots, grenades and RPGs should void martyrdom.

And that brings up another point. Why the hell does the guy take so long before he throws a grenade back? It's like he's examining what type of grenade it is. Just throw it, ya dick!

What is really funny is that now when I play halo 3 and I kill a guy I run away from his body. I am also trying to make Master Chief sprint. And lay down on the ground which makes me melee and inopportune moments.

Like I said in another post, this wasn't an April Fools' joke. Activision (apparently) sent out the wrong release date in an email to the press and as you can the GOTY site still says April 10.

If you read his post, 402 doesn't even say it was an April Fools' joke by the way..
