COD4 has its own Double EXP Weekend

Considering that their game is the most-played game on Live, it seems a bit strange that Call of Duty 4 would be taking cues from its defeated opponent. Yet to celebrate the release of the Variety Map pack, Infinity Ward is doing just that, taking a leaf out of Bungie's book and creating their very own version of the Double EXP Weekend. The COD4 weekend is a bit different than the Halo 3 system however. In Halo 3 the boosted EXP is limited to a specific playlist: Grifball. In Hal- er, we mean COD4, the EXP is doubled any time a match is played on the Variety DLC maps. So while you're effectively paying for the new EXP, it is good to see Infinity Ward taking preemptive steps to match anything that could lead to Halo 3 coming back to the top. Competition breeds excellence right?

We have no info on whether or not the Double EXP Weekend will be a recurring thing with COD4, but the current one ends on Sunday at midnight.

Halo has more replay value. Acti has to come out with a new Call of Duty every year. After all that halo will still be in the top 3. GOW2 @ 1

Isn't it like that for every game? Each game needs it's own DLC to have it survive before it dies.

No...It is not the same for every game. Halo 2 ruled xbox live for 3 years before Halo 3. Halo 3 will still be kicking ass when COD5 comes out!!

Halo 2/3 matchmaking is still the best out there. Get in a lobby, and press "Start matchmaking"... no need to wait for everyone to press "ready" and all that time wasting crap!!

yeah, if only live will accept my pre-paid point code to get this ish happening. apparently the servers are being melted so that you can't redeem your cards... way to go microsoft...not only do you make me give you my money in some wacky round about way, but you can't even do that right...why am I paying for live gold again???

i was wondering what was going on, i kept getting 20 points per kill this morning....i wasnt complaining, i thought it was related to the new maps or something but i assumed it was a mistake.

Wow forgot about all the bad language and bad mouthing on COD 4. I'm almost sorry I bought maps. I'll play during the weekend then back to R6V2.

When i pop in Cod4, a title update trys to download, then before it gets anywhere it says "Test your connection then try again." - of course that doesnt do dick. Im locked out of the game and im going nuts. Anybody else experiencing this undeserving punishment?

Xbox Live is being crippled right now. I assume it is due to the fact that everyone and their mother is downloading the CoD4 map pack. But like this is still absurd. Once in a while is ok but XBL is a pay service and shouldn't die like this. GTA IV will cripple XBL hard.

in one round on search and destroy, i got 4 kills and i defused the bomb. 400 xp right there.... i hope they do this every weekend :D

That doesn't make any kind of mathematical sense under any situation. Under normal circumstances, that would be 300 XP (4 kills x 50xp = 200 + 100 for defusing).

Double XP would then have been 600 XP (unless only the XP for defusing got doubled, but that doesn't make much sense).

I went home during lunch and couldn't get live to download it - UGGGHH - I am sure it's only going to get worse as the night progress - I am west coast...good thing the Lakers are on tonight so I can watch that instead of my cannot connect to Live screen!
