X3F TV -- Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack video tour
Giving gamers four more reasons to go online with Xbox Live's most popular shooter, Infinity Ward has released the first downloadable content for their 2007 smash-hit Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. For 800 MS points the map pack adds familiar environments from the single-player experience as well as a modernized revision of a classic Call of Duty 2 map.
Jump in for a brief description of the four maps included in the Variety Map Pack for Call of Duty 4 and find out if the maps are worth your hard-earned MS Points.

Broadcast
With it's size and alternate routes, Broadcast is a must for large team games. The multi-floored media facility overlooks a collection of buildings, perfect for sniper fire. With it's multiple vantage points, tightly wound office spaces and roof-top access, Broadcast is sure to become a fan favorite.
Chinatown
A revision of the classic Call of Duty 2 map Carentan, Chinatown brings players into the foggy night life where the full moon lights the battle below. With multiple interiors, windows overlooking the courtyard and an intricate rooftop design, Chinatown is perfect for any size party and gametype.
Creek
A secluded village getaway doesn't mean this creek is a nice vacation spot. With sniper friendly foliage, a deep ravine perfect for ambushes and an underground cave, Creek is an extensive map for large scale operations. Creek is a dream for an ambush plan, just hope you aren't walking into one of your own.
Killhouse
An enclosed warehouse made up of plywood structures primarily used for S.A.S. speed tests, Killhouse is ground level carnage waiting to happen. You'd better enjoy respawning because in Killhouse you'll always be coming back for more.
Overall the maps are four solid additions to the title and fans of the series have undoubtedly picked them up by now. While directly ripping the environments from the single-player campaign may rub some the wrong way, there is enough new material to warrant the purchase. If you're still heavily into Call of Duty 4's multiplayer experience, you can't miss the variety map pack.

n00b tube!!! I hope they ban them from S&D.
Xav de Matos @ Apr 7th 2008 12:14PM
Oh jeez. Let the stupidness about that begin..... NOW!
OBM @ Apr 7th 2008 12:28PM
I'm all for them in deathmatch, but on S&D there's 2 set spawn points, lots of people can kill you from spawn, which I don't see the point in, it sucks and wrecks the game for everyone.
Ozyman666 @ Apr 7th 2008 12:14PM
noob tuber
Zoot Suit Jedi @ Apr 7th 2008 12:17PM
Your tubes...they're so...so...n00b. *sobs*
killploki @ Apr 7th 2008 12:18PM
While we are at it, lets ban random grenade tosses from across the map.
The new maps are good, i spent the weekend with them, but there was a lot of lag making some games unplayable.
Xav de Matos @ Apr 7th 2008 12:23PM
The n00b tube thing, sure I'll cop to it. But that toss wasn't random.
That sniper and I were going at it for a while and I wanted to cloud his view while I set up to get the kill.
ZEBRA NINER @ Apr 7th 2008 12:43PM
SPAM GRENADES!!! 3x grenade perk, all day long. It's so, so... SO NICE. It makes me happy knowing that the guy I killed just said, "WTF was that?! That's total BS!"
Good times, good times.
joey @ Apr 7th 2008 12:23PM
Killhouse is not in team death match play list.
I guess it's too small.
Creek is a sniper heaven.
Broadcast is good.
Chinatown is hands down the best map.
IW better have a new play list integrating these maps into the old ones.
All in all, not a bad purchase.
But definitely for hardcore fans only.
Ozyman666 @ Apr 7th 2008 12:29PM
Killhouse looks like it'll be good for Domination.
Magic Whiskey @ Apr 7th 2008 12:29PM
It's funny how EVERYONE already flocks to the rooftop of Broadcast. (And how I seem to be able to peg EVERYONE up there with my M4 Carbine....:) )
I love all of the maps (yes, even Creek despite the fact I don't snipe all that much). Spent close to twelve hours playing Friday overnight and about 5 hours on Sunday night just in the Variety Map Team Deathmatch hopper.
I really, REALLY hope IW puts on Double XD weekends again!
D Boy Flex @ Apr 7th 2008 12:31PM
I liked the maps. The double xp was cool and all. I really liked broadcast and creek. I by far played them the most. I only got a few games in on Chinatown. The only thing I found was that Chinatown was a bit dark for my liking. I guess I just need to up the brightness for it. All in all a good buy. I hope they intergrate them into the standard playlists as I enjoy many of the old maps as well and playing combo would be awesome.
mcwattersm @ Apr 7th 2008 12:44PM
They said they would in one of the in game menus. Haven't been on today so I dont know if they have yet.
Louis @ Apr 7th 2008 12:33PM
I thought I was going to hate Creek because I'm not that great of a sniper, but it is even better for people who just want to run along the ridge and pick off snipers who are too busy looking through their scopes.
I played a lot this weekend.
Demolition Elmo @ Apr 7th 2008 12:35PM
what happened to commentary in the x3f videos?
Xav de Matos @ Apr 7th 2008 12:42PM
I had recorded it. What I said was pretty much the descriptions of each map, but there was some audio syncing hiccups in the process of editing the video so we just opted to release it sans commentary.
Digital Limit @ Apr 7th 2008 4:34PM
I'd just like to add my two cents in on this and say that I was happy there wasn't any commentary, actually. It felt more professional (but who cares about that) and I was able to get into the snippets of the matches more. Might not be a terrible idea to release two versions of these features in the future, one with commentary and one without.
Anywho, really glad you put this together Xav. Taught me some new tactics, too, heh. Noob tube.
Robert @ Apr 7th 2008 12:37PM
why hasn't there been an X3F COD4 night? i mean come on...it is the most played game on XBL.
Xav de Matos @ Apr 7th 2008 12:43PM
Soon.
Very, very soon :)
mcwattersm @ Apr 7th 2008 12:43PM
I don't see why one complains about ones gun of choice... does it really make you that mad to die?
...babies.
decapit8 @ Apr 7th 2008 12:58PM
you got owned a lot in that...
Xav de Matos @ Apr 7th 2008 12:59PM
Uh... you didn't notice that's how every map clip ended?
That's how it was edited.
John McPoop @ Apr 7th 2008 10:01PM
Don't worry Xav he is probably one of those homophobic racist 12 year olds always yelling obscenities ... I thought it was a nice vid
decapit8 @ Apr 7th 2008 10:12PM
nope. It was a joke. but apparently you enjoy being an internet troll more than reading all the posts from the convo and getting a fair opinion. In the next post i said that i was joking.
btw Gamertag is Decapit8 if youre wanting some 1on1 fun :)
have fun creeping all the day's posts.
Xav de Matos @ Apr 7th 2008 10:14PM
No no, I think this was a misunderstanding. I knew it was a joke, I'm sure that was just missed is all.
Also, I'm sure you've had your fair share of being owned. But no one was recording that at the time I guess :)
decapit8 @ Apr 7th 2008 10:59PM
Xav, i was talking to John McPoop or whoever. I was being sarcastic when i said you got owned a lot. You have fair skills and yes, ive been owned plenty of times.
cheers
Xav de Matos @ Apr 7th 2008 11:08PM
Oh I know you were talking to him, I was just trying to defuse the situation before it turned into a flame war or something. But it's all good.
BTW, awesome Gamertag.
John McPoop @ Apr 7th 2008 11:51PM
Yeah now I am a troll ... riiiight ... get a grip dude whether you were joking or not you were being a total dick head ... Then you call me the troll
John McPoop @ Apr 7th 2008 11:53PM
Besides I must have struck a nerve with my comment ... I guess it hit a little to close to home, eh? ... If your not a homophobic racist twelve year old then why so defensive?
decapit8 @ Apr 7th 2008 1:12PM
but it would be better if you NEVER got owned.
like me :)
no im just kidding
Doug @ Apr 7th 2008 1:45PM
Very cool montage. And the noob tube, awesome.
s.tillings @ Apr 7th 2008 2:37PM
Xav -- nice work on the video. Gives a good feel for the new maps and shows me lots of places where I'll eat a grenade, rocket, bullet(s) or just get stabbed in the back. Looking forward to it.
srt4rider @ Apr 7th 2008 2:51PM
I would love a X3F COD4 night. Also great tour thru the maps.
Demolition Elmo @ Apr 7th 2008 2:57PM
x3f live on killhouse would be insane!
Xav de Matos @ Apr 7th 2008 10:14PM
Interesting Elmo.
Very, interesting.
:)
stinger503 @ Apr 7th 2008 3:29PM
I love sniping from the building across the parking lot. Random story ahead: While I was sniping from there, I was getting tired of being stabbed in the back, so I set a trap. Placed some C4 by the stairs and walked back and continued sniping. I noticed the radar shows a red dot approaching so I get into a position and get ready to hold down the X button (Quick Detonation for C4). He pops up and I press X and...I reload. NO!
Eddy @ Apr 7th 2008 3:58PM
Man I'm, REALLY on the fence about these maps.
I just recently got back into COD4 on Saturday after having left at a 4th prestige to play Gears more competitively. Thankfully I'm still the beast I use to be lol. I have a little over 800 MS points and I'm wondering what I should do. These maps look amazing, but I don't know how much time I'm going to be spending on COD4 due to gears and GTA IV.
Does anyone think i should go for it? (i honestly don't know what to do with the points)
And I really agree with the community, X3F should really consider doing a COD4 night. i haven't had the chance to play with you cool kids, and I would love to do it via COD4.
Thanks guys, keep up the good work.
bonzai @ Apr 7th 2008 4:28PM
NOOB TUBE!
Your craps freakin WEAK dude! Learn how to shoot.
Xav de Matos @ Apr 7th 2008 4:38PM
And because you opinion matter so much to me I'll be sure to do that...
John McPoop @ Apr 7th 2008 10:04PM
what is with these idiots and their noob tube
Xav de Matos @ Apr 7th 2008 10:06PM
I guess it is a pretty cheesy weapon because it works well but I wasn't aware it had it's own name and hate fan club. Otherwise I would have stuck to my other load outs.
Jayslacks @ Apr 7th 2008 7:53PM
The Noob-Tub, Xav? Really? You most know that everyone was cussing you when they saw you using that...
Jayslacks @ Apr 7th 2008 7:54PM
But I mean that in a loving, friendly way.
Xav de Matos @ Apr 7th 2008 10:07PM
I wasn't aware of the hatred behind the combo really. Oh well. The point of this vid is to show off the MAPS, not my skillz or lack thereof.
John @ Apr 7th 2008 9:48PM
Waiting for it to download... I can't stand it! 75%...
Xav de Matos @ Apr 7th 2008 10:15PM
For some reason this file ended up being CRAZY huge.
Sorry about that one.
neoark @ Apr 8th 2008 7:03AM
Well, as for 3 grenades, there is actually certain places and timing to be thrown, if you avoid that place and timing, you won't die so easily.
only n00bs dies on 3 grenades, when they don't know what hit them, and n00bs use 3 grenades >.>
John @ Apr 8th 2008 8:55AM
Very Coool Maps !!
rabidsqurl @ Apr 9th 2008 7:47PM
WoW the player in that really sucks...a total noob tube whore..the clumsy movements of the controller just make me even more of a proud PC player....Killhouse looks like a lame map...its gonna have TONS of nade spam
