Microsoft rolls out 360 HD DVD player update

Even though HD DVD died a slow and painful death, Microsoft is still showing current Xbox 360 HD DVD player owners ongoing love with the release of today's auto update. Once connected to Xbox Live with a HD DVD player firmly integrated into your 360, you'll be prompted to download a new update that's said to help with compatibility issues with some titles and will add additional support for network features. Even though this update won't resurrect Toshiba's commitment to HD DVD, it should make your HD movie experience a tad bit more enjoyable.

On a side note-: how do I contact Microsoft/Toshiba for the 5 free HDDVDs which I was supposed to get with my player? I bought this player but sent the form in a bit late but way before the deadline and its been 2 months and I havent heard anything from these guys regarding my money. Where are my HDDVDs Microsoft??

I don't have a HD-DVD add on, but looking at the pic, is there a recessed section on the back to add the WiFi adapter?
I'm guessing this is because it takes the USB slot the WiFi adapter would? Just thought it would be weird that you could run two of them, on on the system, one on the HD-DVD drive.

Okay first off, the ps3 maybe outsold the 360 for 3 months for these reasons...
1: Ps3 is the cheapest bluray player *meaning 360 is used for gaming;)*
2: The 360 has already sold so much, and it's selling fine. If the ps3 beats it by how many units in 1 month, isn't much at all when you compare how many total...
3: By looking at your post things like "YAAA BOI" Shows how much of a fanboy you are, and redfaction is nothing...Compare that with 20 companies saying the 360 is so much easier, and the ps3 delays titles;)

So what do you have to say now??

Why do i care about what happen in other countries? The 360 is a the best console right now. Period. Your right we lost the format war. Therefore I went into the store to buy a PS3 for the blueray player. But then I realized what am I gonna do when Im not watching movies. Play 360. There was no games in the store on ps3 that wasnt already on 360 that interested me at all.

You keep saying "xbox 360 have the best game TO DATE". At what exact point in time will ps3 have better games? After 2 years? 5? 10? I dont know about you but im not waiting that long.

So who in inferior is anything going to change.The ps3 can sell all it wants to.The ps2 outsold the xbox did that make it the better console.For crying out loud the dreamcast was a better console than the ps2.

Now if you look at the titles for the consoles it explains why i bought them.

tg16 had games you couldnt get anywhere else the genesis covered the bigger titles

the saturn had awesome games you couldnt get on ps1 and kicked ass for arcade 2d game emulations.The n64 covered my 3d needs and 007 etc.While ps1 shoveled disney games and shovelware.

The dreamcast had games that were very arcady too and had alot of exclusive titles and had a killer online service for the time.The xbox brought the harddrive and better online while the ps2 shoveled barbie games and basement bin junk.

That dvd topic goes back to the games scores someone posted previously. At this time there isn't much of a benefit in producing a larger that would therefore take up the space on the bluray disc:

COSTS MORE
Takes longer to produce which will add to the cost. At the same time the graphics will be worse. Because the longer you take to produce a game the worse it will get because the tools are constantly changing.

Secondly the space on a disk does have any relevance for how good the graphics will be. It simply comes down to how fast the rendering engine can render out the frames. Overall it doesn't make much sense to start producing games on blueray when they can run perfectly fine on dvd. I could see bluray being incorporated into the next generation of consoles, that would most likely have better grahics card, processors.

On topic. I was on the fence when the HD-DVD came out and I held off until there was a clear format winner, which is why I bought a PS3, for blu-ray.

I am still puzzled about why everbody gets so worked up over these console/format wars just buy what you like man. I aways wanted a hd dvd player and was on the fence until it drop down to 50 bucks and i ran out and got one I mean there are like 400 movies already out and it upconverts my old dvds and i have been buying hd dvds for 10-15 bucks hd dvd "dying" was a dream come true.
