GamesIndustry.biz is reporting that most major online retailers in the UK including GAME, Gamestation and Play.com have been waiving their white pre-order flag lately regarding any new
Grand Theft Auto IV pre-orders. The infectious demand for
GTAIV is just too much and they can't guarantee customers ordering after April 7th will get their
GTAIV copy day one. So, to anyone who's looking to cash in on those sweet UK Microsoft points
pre-order deals, you'll probably be out of luck.
GTAIV is teh hawtness right now and, as a result, pre-orders are getting hammered. Which we're certain Rockstar has no problems with.

But the 360 dead in Australia... (rolling eyes)
PerfectStrategy @ Apr 8th 2008 11:22AM
The article is about the UK, not Australia.

Looks like I'll be making a midnight visit to Tesco or Asda 24 hours on Tuesday the 29th.

Servers are getting hammered at the moment though so you may have trouble trying to read it but I can sum it up for you "this game is gonna rock your socks off!"

For those sporting the sockless, sandal look - it will peel the skin off your feet. Yum.

GTA is launched simultaneously throughout the world on April 29th. If anything, the UK will get it first because American time is behind ours.

We have temporarily stopped taking pre orders due to high demand. If you have Pre-Ordered we will dispatch your copy as soon as we receive the product.
This is what it now says on the website I ordered my copy from. Luckily I didn't wait too long to pre-order it.

Not that I don't mind at all but ain't it a bit weird how gta4 is coming out on a tuesday? :S
BananaBoat @ Apr 9th 2008 3:21PM
Tuesday is when shipments make it to big box retailers like Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart etc. If you've noticed, a large portion (I'd say 90% atleast) of games, movies, CD's, etc, come out on tuesday (especially movies, on DVD). The ones that don't, probably arrive by truck on tuesday, and then sit in warehouses until wednesday/thursday/friday etc. So no, it's not weird that it's releasing on a Tuesday.
I'm starting to re-think my Xbox 360 pre-order of the game. With achievements murking up the waters, will I still be able to input a code and receive all the weapons in the game, at once? (like on every previous Grand Theft Auto Game). Since the Playstation 3 has no such achievements to worry about, I'm thinking maybe it will have the weapon unlock codes....if this is true, it's a MAJOR deal breaker for me, because half of the fun I have in GTA is getting out of the pokey, inputting the code for all weapons, and then, you know, going GTA, lol.
I'm SHOCKED that no previewers have commented on this yet, and Rockstar hasn't said a word. You'd think more people would be wondering if they can still use all weapons cheats, and all health cheats, etc.
