Tomonobu Itagaki's view on game bugs

Master Ninja Tomonobu Itagaki is rather well known for his distinctive attitudes toward both excellence and anything he considers to be inferior. With that in mind, we would have thought that the eccentric leader of Team Ninja would have a much different attitude toward video game bugs. Instead, in keeping with eccentricity, Itagaki surprised us with his rather pragmatic down to earth approach to bugs, programmers, and bosses. Basically stating that bugs are a normal part of the process, and that the focus needs to stay on removing them, with there being no possibility for writing code with no bugs. Plus, the dev-blog format that the piece is written in allows for more of the pure Japan of the thing to shine through in the writing, making the whole that much more interesting to read. Bring on the cyclops flies and the fiend beetles we say. Screw the bugs.

Reminds me of The Good Thief:
- I could leave there a beetle.
- Beetle?
- Sorry. It's the wrong word. A "bug."

Just as I finished reading this article, I got up to get my now finished ramen that I made. I discovered a Bug on the floor >:|

The Japanese calls errors/bugs “golden nuggets” because they are not errors but an opportunity to learn. These Japs are crazy...

He's right. You show me a coder who claims to write bug-free code, and I'll show you a liar.

Sometimes great games maker aside, what is up with this guy? He's the poster child for not doing hard drugs http://images.ampednews.com/news/uploads/itagaki.jpg Look at him. He looks like a crack or meth head,

Itagaki is the most overrated man in gaming. He's also a nutter.
If he made a game, I know it's going to be 75% self-wank nonsense, and 25% striking a pose.

Well he might be mad as a hatter but he's right. It's impossible to write bug free code, and given the time to release vs. complexity of game I would go so far as to say it's impossible to release a bug free game these days.
