Na, I don't think so. I didn't think the last pack was worth 10 bucks (No I didn't buy it, I waited) and with GTA only 2 weeks away, I gotta make sure to get all my studying in before then. Sorry Halo, you could have been better.
Bmurph @ Apr 15th 2008 10:01AM
Agreed - GTA coming out too soon to make this worth it. I did by the last pack and didn't think it was worth it. This one does look better, but $10? Nah. It'll be free.
Homer 918 @ Apr 15th 2008 11:01AM
They have stated on a number of occasions that there are no plans to make this map pack free.
mike @ Apr 15th 2008 12:01PM
because they dont want to lose sales on waiters like the first pack. Trust me it will be free eventually. All the people who buy it will start complaining in a couple months about how thier not added to the matchmaking. Thats the reason I dont buy maps in halo3, cause they are not added. All I enjoy playing is big team battle. And their DLC preview gametype only supports 10 or 12 players max.
I wont be purchasing these maps either, ill wait for them to be free. After getting the heroic map pack for free, and playing the dlc playlist for a couple days before they were integrated into matchmaking, I gotta say Im very glad I didnt make the purchase.
Deezul @ Apr 15th 2008 10:00AM
I think I played the Heroic pack 3-4 times before it went free. I didn't want to play big team battles, over and over. I'll wait until it's free.
What's that? It won't be free? Guess I won't get it at all then, and probably won't be playing much H3 then.
ypod @ Apr 15th 2008 10:14AM
Bungie never said that these maps will never be free. They have only stated that they know of no plans to make the maps free. This is probably because Microsoft Game Studios is in charge of most of these financial matters. I have already bought the new maps. I play lots of custom games with my friends that are also getting the maps, so it's worth it to me.
Hooligunn @ Apr 15th 2008 10:16AM
Sorry to burst your bubble but there are no plans to make this free. Too many people felt cheated at the maps becoming free so quickly and Microsoft don't want people waiting this time.
I can tell you though, these are 3 of the best maps in Halo now. They are absolutely worth every penny - Avalanche has the size and scope of Blood Gulch, and is pure awesome. Ghost Town is frantic and hella fun, and Blackout is good ol' Lockout but improved, thanks to not spawning with an SMG.
Your loss if you don't pick these up, they are three fantastic maps that are not going to be free - Microsoft doesn't want people waiting like last time.
AnOffday @ Apr 15th 2008 11:51AM
"Sorry to burst your bubble but there are no plans to make this free. Too many people felt cheated at the maps becoming free so quickly and Microsoft don't want people waiting this time."
I totally agree with that. I bought them, and I did feel cheated. No ranked matches, and I could only play those 3 maps over and over. Total rip off. The people who waited were the ones rewarded. These maps look cool, but I'm good. Bungie needs to take some lessons from IW on how to implement new maps in playlists.
Swamp Donkey @ Apr 15th 2008 10:17AM
Awesome maps, no brainer to buy em. Plus as I've said before, buying these maps will encourage bungie to bring back more classics. Still need Battle Creek, Hang 'em High, Blood Gulch, and many more.
Rustygherkin @ Apr 15th 2008 10:18AM
10 bucks is nothing, that wouldn't get ya 2 drinks at the weekend. Cant wait to get home and play them.

For 10 dollars you get 411MB worth of data. That data had to be created, designed, tested, and tested again. You don't have to buy it, but gosh its only 10 dollars I eat lunch and spend more then that... Halo 3 fans that like the old maps and love team swat will buy this, cause if you dont you wont get to play them... If you are a ps3 fan you might just be bashing halo to try and play down how awesome it is... In fact I sold all my other games and can enjoy halo by itself most of the day. :)
Deezul @ Apr 15th 2008 11:56AM
$10 is nothing for you? Then pay for my maps.
melloncollie @ Apr 15th 2008 3:00PM
@Deezul
Get a job.
xFenixKnightx @ Apr 15th 2008 10:36AM
So when is this free and who do I have to write an email to so we can get more achievements added to Halo3? From what I know they can still add 250gp more.
I thought the achievements in H3 were awesome but for some reason after I hit 1000gp my H3 play time started getting shorter and shorter. =(
Lewis @ Apr 15th 2008 10:42AM
So when will this become Fanswag? :)
Josh @ Apr 15th 2008 10:44AM
Hell yea! We're having a Halo 3 LAN party this Sunday so I gotta download and practice on these tonight. All 3 maps look awesome.
DarkNightRJ @ Apr 15th 2008 10:46AM
I downloaded them. They are all awesome. But bungie needs to make the DLC Slayer to work with them better.
Gemini Ace @ Apr 15th 2008 10:46AM
I'm trying to resist buying these maps, but it's hard.
The Big Nastee @ Apr 15th 2008 11:05AM
Wow, what a bunch of broke Larrys. Like my man said earlier $10 is what 2 drinks cost at the bar. Brown bag a lunch one day this week you cheap baztards. I used to go to the arcade and drop $20 in 30 minutes, and that was in the early 90s when $20 was a lot of money. $10 for maps that you will get at least a couple hours of play for is a good deal. And besides, I know not everyone played Halo 1 and may not be excited about sidewinder, but if you're not hyped to play the remake of Lockout, why are you on this site anyway?? To take it a step further, why are you clicking on the story about the Halo maps, unless you are just trying to hate.
Josh @ Apr 15th 2008 11:05AM
Man, I can't wait to play them when I get home.
DeadPixel @ Apr 15th 2008 11:43AM
i already got it. blackout is worth every penny
itsburnsie @ Apr 15th 2008 12:25PM
Who am I kidding? I'll be downloading these as soon as I'm done with work.
AVALANCHE!
Sean @ Apr 15th 2008 12:34PM
Anyone else notice the DLC Playlists are totally nerfed. If you have one person playing in the playlist without the Legendary maps you play on one of the heroic maps.
I bought the maps and I have yet to play them in 15 matches.
The DLC playlist needs to be restricted to the legedary maps for a couple of weeks.
Deezul @ Apr 15th 2008 12:42PM
That's how they were when Heroic came out, and why I thought the cost was a waste. No ranked games with the new maps. STOOOOPID.
Digital Limit @ Apr 15th 2008 2:38PM
Deezul, you need to get educated in what you're talking about: the playlists for these maps has not gone live, yet. Legendary-specific playlists are going live soon, and at that point you will be able to specifically play Legendary maps.
Proof: http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=news&cid=13606
In addition, on May 1st additional Legendary-specific playlists are going live, such as Team SWAT.
So yeah, put your foot in your mouth. So tired of reading your nonsense. "Oh lord, ten dollars! Oh lord, no one can play the maps anyway, Bungie is out for blood!"
Just stop.
erivera3 @ Apr 15th 2008 12:50PM
Halo has always had that magical power of bringing everyone together for some 16 player crazy fun. Lockout was one of those special maps that pretty much every halo player couldn't wait to play. I'm beyond glad they brought that back, I can't wait to get some awesome times going on Blackout.
aMp 732 @ Apr 15th 2008 1:03PM
I definately cant wait to get home and play these.. What HALO Player could pass this up I mean seriously $10? ( 400+ MB )
Thats 2 drinks at the bar 1 trip to Mc Donalds.
Im sure your already on a $400 system, a $1500 tv and playing a $60 game.
Quit the whining ya ninnies.
Nintendo is Fail @ Apr 15th 2008 1:19PM
Well theres another point. If you bought the last map pack (like I did) and plan on buying this one, then that's spending a total of $80 on a video game that just has a couple of extra maps. Or for $10 you could buy something on Xbox Live Arcade
And like someone said above, they still have the Heroic DLC playlists just mixed in with the Legendary maps now (so if one person doesn't have the new maps you can't play them)? That sucks balls
Digital Limit @ Apr 15th 2008 2:40PM
Again, that's not actually the case. The DLC playlists are switching to Legendary-only within the day. People need to stop perpetuating these lies.
dylan @ Apr 15th 2008 1:39PM
with Halo 3 being one of the most successful games of all time, I don't think they are hurting for our money, and could easily make these map packs 5 bucks. It is greedy to ask so much for only 3 maps. I bought the last pack and only enjoyed one of the maps, and that was only for about 1/2 an hour. If it was a movie I would have walked out and asked for my money back within the first 10 minutes.
Etchasketchist @ Apr 15th 2008 2:26PM
Which one?
Digital Limit @ Apr 15th 2008 3:01PM
Do you really need to ask? He enjoyed it for a mere 30 minutes, heh.
In truth, the last map pack was amazing. Adding Foundry has lead to a slew of awesome custom maps (and x3f's awesome community content feature, heh), Standoff feels like classic Halo more than any other map, and Rat's Nest is great, too. Nothing gives me more satisfaction than hitting a Warthog off of Rat's Nest with a gravity hammer, or sneaking out a flag on Standoff. It's silly to commit 30 minutes to ONE map and then make your judgment.
Really, I'm resistant to believe this guy as it's just outlandish.
As for pricing, it's standard fare. Look at Call of Duty, and then remember Forge-features. Jeez, how does your foot taste?
/le sigh
dylan @ Apr 15th 2008 3:32PM
@etchasketchist, I liked standoff the best, the others were alright too, I just wasn't thrilled with them and felt ten bucks was a bit steep considering I bought used copies of saints row, earth defense force, and crackdown for 10 bucks each, which was a way better deal.
@Digital Limit, I was going to address your comment, but below you resorted to saying "all these ridiculous whiners" when most on this talkback seemed to me to have good points presented in an adult manner, and don't justify name calling, so I will assume you are just trolling.
Nintendo is Fail @ Apr 15th 2008 4:21PM
Maybe Digital Limit is just an idiot. DLC is like the new way of ripping people off. Remember that Halo 2 map pack they made that was on a disk? That was $20 (still overpriced) but it came with 9 maps, bonus content, and an update. Now all we get now is a total of 6 maps for $20 and we have to wait for them to actually be put in a decent playlist. Gameplay-wise i'm sure they're great (especially the Sidewinder one) but their value sucks.
Digital Limit @ Apr 15th 2008 3:03PM
All of these ridiculous whiners aside, who all from X3F is playing tonight? We should get some custom games together!
I'll definitely be on, so throw me a friend request if you're interested (make sure to add a message that notes you're fro X3F, so I don't ignore the request, of course).
My GT: Digital Limit
Much love!

all the maps are amazing and are a must buy for everyone!!
