Another COD4 Double XP Weekend: April 25-27

These things are certainly becoming popular, we guess devs discovered that people like getting twice the reward for normal "work." Last time the event was the release of COD4's first map pack. This time it's the same thing, only for PS3, and since the maps are already out on 360, we get the Double XP Weekend too. The specific start and stop times for North America are from 12:01 AM on Friday, April 25 to 11:59 PM on Sunday, April 27. And for those European gamers the Double XP Weekend is completely different, beginning at 12:01 AM GMT on Friday, May 2 and concluding at 11:59 PM GMT on Sunday, May 4. Mark your calenders gamers!

How is this related to X3F?
joey @ Apr 17th 2008 9:29AM
You just wanted to put COD4 on the title didn't you?
Shame on you.
xFenixKnightx @ Apr 17th 2008 9:50AM
This is how its related......
"and since the maps are already out on 360, we get the Double XP Weekend too."
CB @ Apr 17th 2008 3:18PM
I don't see anything related to the 360 in the original post.
Ben @ Apr 17th 2008 9:31AM
Does this only apply to the new maps, or can you gain double xp on the original maps?
xFenixKnightx @ Apr 17th 2008 9:55AM
I'm pretty sure it will be on all maps now that they are integrated into the normal rotation. Either way...W00t!!! I just wanna get up to Lvl 55 Prestige4 because thats my fav medal. Looks awesome =)

I never bothered going into prestige mode in cod4.
Does doing it in prestige mean you have to unlock all the weapons again?
ZEBRA NINER @ Apr 17th 2008 9:51AM
Yup! Everything is locked back up, challenges, create a classs... all of it. You just get a little icon next to your name. I do it, why waste all that XP? Make the game challenging and fun to start from the bottom again.
They need to do double XP more often.
Merehorseplay @ Apr 17th 2008 9:49AM
"YES" Prestige mode means unlocking everything again. I've done it 5 times myself. Been playing R6V2 for the past month, bought new maps for COD4 and played them all once and realized I was burned out on COD4. HAVE FUN!
nerrrrrrd @ Apr 17th 2008 9:53AM
one last 'HOO-RAH!' before GTA4 comes out and puts my copy of COD4 in the drawer to collect dust.
Magic Whiskey @ Apr 17th 2008 10:00AM
Yeah, it's slick that it just 'happens' to be the weekend right before GTA IV. Good move, Infinity Ward!
(As for me, I'll be deep into GTA IV for a few days then back to COD4 no doubt. I'm too addicted to headshooting guys with my M4 Carbine. )

I don't know where you got that this will be for 360 too, but it's only for ps3. I think this is also the same post you link to. stop getting people excited :P
nerrrrrrd @ Apr 17th 2008 10:35AM
Clarence is right, we need some clarification here.
decapit8 @ Apr 17th 2008 10:21AM
hooray. something to entertain me those last days before gtaIV
drew @ Apr 17th 2008 10:36AM
THIS is what entertains you before gta? why not go back and play some of the old ones. gta3 or san andreas or vice city. or better yet. play the better online game...HALO 3. with 2 new map packs out already and a better matchmaking system. its cool that you can customize guns and stuff. but i mean this game is not even realistic. you can attatch more than just a red dot sight to your gun in real life. you can do a sight and silencer. i mean come on. this shouldnt even be labeled realistic shooter for that fact alone. thats my rant. the end.
decapit8 @ Apr 17th 2008 11:04AM
lol. i grew bored of halo long ago. It was the first game I bought with my 360, I played through the campaign, and about 100 games online, made a map in forge, saved like 2 films... and then lost all interest. But its just not my cup of tea. I am impatient, i hate waiting 5 minutes for each game to start. And I understand a lot of people love the gameplay enough to wait, but once again its not my preference. I liked halo on team swat, that was awesome. But to me it takes to damn long to kill people and it pisses me off. My halo playing today consists of rocket race, jumping off of my mongoose, and assasinating people and ruining their game to piss them off, meanwhile me and my roommate laugh as we hear them cuss.
the reason COD only lets you use one accessory at a time is for balance. it would be unfair to have a fullyautomatic weapon with a grenade launcher, red dot sight, and silencer at once. I admit i am finally beginning to burn out on call of duty, and this will help me reach 55 for the final time. then all that is left is finally finish getting that damn golden AK.
I just spent the past week rebeating san andreas, I went back and beat bioshock, and mass effect as well, right now im playing Gears of War online as a last resort.
And im not about to pay 10 bucks for halo maps that i will play for 11 days. then ditch for gtaIV. by the time i feel the need to play halo again the maps will be free anyway.
but lets not make this a Cod Vs. Halo war. its been done too many times.
ryan @ Apr 17th 2008 10:55AM
@Drew (sorry decapit8, stupid comment system. you understand right?)
I played Halo 3 like last week and was completly bored of it. I went back to CoD4 and realized how much faster and more exhilarating the action is. it's not how "hardcore" or "skilled" the game is, it's if you like it or not.
I happen to like faster paced games. and by faster i do mean sprint button and no shields.
erivera3 @ Apr 17th 2008 10:59AM
Halo 3 owns Cod4.
killploki @ Apr 17th 2008 10:26AM
it would be nice if completed challenges were worth double as well for the weekend.
NukeAssault @ Apr 17th 2008 10:47AM
This would be sweet if i needed the EXP XD. Maybe ill startup another account for fun.
Gemini Ace @ Apr 17th 2008 11:13AM
The only thing that keeps me out of CoD4 is the fact that you can't split screen in online multi like you can in Halo 3. That's a huge oversight on IW's part.
Digital Limit @ Apr 17th 2008 4:06PM
I was just thinking about that the other day. My roommate walked in and was watching me play, and I offered him the bottom half of my screen. It's awesome to have him just jump on with me and play a few matches.
I think that once COD adopts a more Battlefield-like approach and supports simple things like Guests, I could see myself committing to that over Halo. But sadly, not the case as of now.
Here's to COD6! You know, since COD5 won't be turning out...
Josh @ Apr 17th 2008 11:16AM
So they decide to do another double xp to match Halo's, I personally like Halo's double xp because it brings crazy game types and a great variation to the game, this is just the same old same old but you get twice as much xp, Gasp!
Digital Limit @ Apr 17th 2008 4:03PM
Well, it's a tradeoff.
On one hand, the experience gained in COD4 is actually worth something. The experience in Halo 3 is more or less pointless, heh. That said, I agree completely that having new playlists is awesome. It exposes everyone to new map types, new gametypes, and overall changes things up and keeps them exciting. People talk about getting bored with Halo, but if they keep this up it'll be harder and harder to do!
Personally, I doubt I'll ever get bored of Avalanche, so this isn't even necessary. Best map to ever grace the Halo series, in my humble opinion.
Digital Limit @ Apr 17th 2008 4:01PM
Who did Double XP Weekends first; Halo 3 or COD4?
Boff @ Apr 18th 2008 4:45AM
Woah woah woah. Hang on a minute. Which bright spark decided Europe will get the double xp weekend on May 2nd - 4th? Who the fuck thought that one up?
