Building size GTAIV mural ads take over LA, NY

Gigantic advertisement murals have been popping up on buildings in select cities around the U.S. including LA and New York promoting Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV. And as you can see in the image above, these advertisements are HUGE! We're also told that the one of the NY ads was hand painted on the brick building's exterior. Nice! It's amazing art, it's an amazing advertising campaign and it's amazing to see how deep Take-Two's marketing pockets really are.

That's sweet, all I've seen so far is a few adds in shops but Manchester in the UK is probably not the prime location for GTA IV ad campaigns. London may have some cool stuff, but I'm not there (yet).
Wish I could have one of those for my house.
SadisticHam @ Apr 23rd 2008 4:14PM
Nothing here either from what I've seen, just adverts on tv really, never seen the UK make a big fuss out of a video game though, not to the extremes America does.
RudyHuxtable @ Apr 23rd 2008 2:06PM
I just drove by it! Woot!

qbix @ Apr 23rd 2008 2:07PM
Magnificent. The LA murals are a lot more impressive. I'll have to drive up there and take a picture this weekend.
Chester @ Apr 23rd 2008 2:07PM
Ok, so as long at it's not on a city bus this advertising is ok?
Am I missing the logic in this? I'm sure Faux News will straighten it all out for me!
Zoot Suit Jedi @ Apr 23rd 2008 3:16PM
+1 for you. "Faux News." I don't know if that has been around for a while or not, but that is genius.

ZEBRA NINER @ Apr 23rd 2008 2:11PM

Gotta love that lollipop girl...
Chester @ Apr 23rd 2008 2:13PM
there has to be one here in san francisco, somewhere!
Raheem @ Apr 23rd 2008 2:14PM
They should project a GTA image onto the side of the Houses of Parliament a la FHM (and others) http://images.businessweek.com/ss/07/02/0209_guerrilla/image/fhm.jpg
Delgado @ Apr 23rd 2008 2:23PM
Isn't it funny how here in America, FOX is outraged at simple shots of people fully clothed, not even holding weapons, and in Europe they post something like that on their government HQ?
Imagine Lollipop Girl projected on the side of the Senate, but nude from the back. Heads would explode.
xtremesniper @ Apr 23rd 2008 2:34PM
They have GTA4 ads put up on the sides of hi-rises in Toronto, Canada as well. And a lot of smaller ones in and around the city like on walls, subway ads, etc.
SigEp418 @ Apr 23rd 2008 2:42PM
Saw the ones up in NYC today. Pretty sweet. Can't wait thats for sure!!
Zoot Suit Jedi @ Apr 23rd 2008 3:17PM
Hooray double post.
Deck @ Apr 23rd 2008 4:11PM
That is so, so awesome! What uberness in their advertising. Mad props to them!
Oh and as someone else said, w00tz for the lollipop chick!
Dron @ Apr 23rd 2008 4:16PM
There are soooooo many of them all over NYC. I woke up last week, opened my window and had a GTA IV mugshot staring at me! Was so awesome!
Dustin, you guys should ask readers to send in pics of the ads from around the world and then post the best ones because it looks like a lot of gamers aren't getting the full GTA marketing blitz in their backyard!
Boff @ Apr 24th 2008 6:13AM
Good call
redpill @ Apr 23rd 2008 4:32PM
vey cool but not really sure why they are wasting money on ads the game is gonna sell like crazy.
also with the news channels saying its gonna turn us in to mentally disturbed lunatics thats free advertisment right there, im sure that Jack Thompson is working for take-two lol

Is it just me, or does her belly button look "off"?

Sook @ Apr 23rd 2008 5:09PM
Right by Staples Center in Los Angeles. Just in time for the NBA playoffs!
EmptyEnergy @ Apr 23rd 2008 5:48PM
Thats awesome.
Answer me this. LA and NY can have building sized murals. Soo, why is it Chicago refuse to have bus sized advertisements? Would someone care to explain this paradox?
PWND @ Apr 23rd 2008 6:49PM
Can anyone in Chicago actually afford an Xbox 360 or PS3? LOL
PWND @ Apr 23rd 2008 6:45PM
As if they needed to pi$$ money away on advertising this game.
Why not thank the strong fan base with free DLC instead of this enormous waste of vinyl and ink...
Michael S. T. @ Apr 23rd 2008 6:55PM
I was there the day they put that up, I drove on that very street(was actually trying to find my way around cause a friend and I were lost)..and was shocked..in a good way.
Its amazing in person, I loved it
Om @ Apr 23rd 2008 8:58PM
Well I'd hate to admit it but the campaign is working on me. I never considered buying GTA4 due to the fact my son is just a little too young to play it. But I gotta say I might just have to get it and save it for myself to play in the wee small hours.
